First things first, this post specificly addresses changes/updates made to the Lost Mine of Phandelver module by Wizards of the Coast. Some of these changes apply to other WotC modules as well. The Lost Mine of Phandelver was one of the first WotC modules I've purchased on Roll20 for what at the time was the full price. It has been updated multiple times since and I've noticed that some of the content was removed with those updates. Here is a short list of the things I've noticed so far: Cover art was removed from the game cover art (as in the picture you see in the "my games" tab) and is now only available as the games landing page. It cannot be added manually unless downloaded and reuploaded. This change was applied to many of the WotC modules and to me it's pretty significant. Why have cover art, if it isn't used as cover art? The artwork for the NPC Sildar Hallwinter was removed and replaced with a generic token of his name. As far as I can tell that token artowrk isn't available at all anymore, not in the module or elsewhere. It was part of the content I bought and now was essentially stolen from me. The character sheets for all of the Phandalin townsfolk have been removed. Funny enough I think they are still linked on the handouts but those links lead nowhere. Another weird change with no obvious reason. These changes are small, but they leave me puzzled. Why? Why update a product in a way that makes it worse? Why take away things that were included and which I've purchased? I feel cheated and disappointed! I had expected updates to improve the content, especially to convert older modules to 2024 content and rules and integrate new functionalities like map pins, but now I wish it would have been left as it was when I bought it.
