Currently, text boxes created by text tools only snap to square corners and hex centers. Ideally they should snap to both corners and centers regardless of whether it's in squares or hex mode.
The way text boxes snap to grids is always inconsistent. It often depends not only on the grid square but also on the size of the text box. When alignment is important, I just hold down the ALT key and override the snap. Also, if the text doesn't need to be editable, I create it outside the VTTT and convert it to an image that I can the upload.
From my testing, text boxes consistently snap to square corners and hex centers. It may look inconsistent because it snaps with the textbox's center point, which changes when the textbox size changes.
The text box's center point - that explains it. Totally useless behavior unless one is a fan of center-justified text. :/ Uneasy K. said: From my testing, text boxes consistently snap to square corners and hex centers. +1, regardless of the cause, text positioning ought to be more controllable. I can't count the number of times I've had a room number disappear into a wall because I put it too close to the edge.
