Pretty much what the title says... I tried the "Looking for Group" tool but felt a little too impersonal to me and most of the things I saw were full, or very advanced, or the next session was within a month... Also felt like it was hard to find there people that were about to start something new, just ongoing things, so I rather post here and see. Some info about me: - Male, 31, Spain. - I'm fine with Spanish or English (also French but I would prefer the others two). However I'm not used to speaking English (used to hearing it) and I may prefer typing what my character says/does rather than speaking it (if English). But if we are going full voice or full text I would adapt. - Right now I'm available 24/7 as I don't do anything with my life, so I guess anytime is good for me, just let me know. - Related to the previous one, I wouldn't mind playing 3 or more days a week, but I guess most games here are played once a week, again, let me know. - I have played D&D, Pathfinder and some other RPGs in the past with IRL friends, but to be honest we never played them for too long (with the exception of Hero Quest, but that game, if you follow the rules, is almost like playing parcheesi), so even if I have quite a good idea of what I'm doing and how to play no problem, I'm not a real advanced player by any means and, for example, I never checked prestige classes or anything beyond the dozen basic ones. - I don't mind if its a 1-time session or a long-term campaign, but I would like to know whats the idea to make my mind up for it, and in the rare case I get to choose between a 1-time session, a short-campaign or a long-campaign I would go with the middle one, not too long, not too short. - 95% of the time I have been DM, I even DMed a little here on Roll20 (still with IRL friends), and I personally love/prefer DMing, but it feels like its a lot of work to get it prepared here in Roll20 (specially when I was trying to adapt Rise of the Runelords from an English book to Spanish notes so I wouldn't have to translate-read things in the go), and I also feel like I would need polishing my DMing skills, so right now I'm looking for a group to be a player on so I can see other GMs in action and learn, something I pretty much the chance to do IRL. - I don't really mind what class to play or if I get good base stats or not. I would say my preferred classes would be Barbarian, Warrior, Mage (Necromancer) or Monk; but I'm fine with whatever if the group needs something specific. - I mostly want to learn/improve/get-used to Roll20 so I can improve my DMing and maybe someday try to play again with my IRL friends or maybe get a spanish group of Roll20 people going. - As a GM my biggest flaw (imo) was not being comfortable (feeling shy I guess?) about roleplaying the NPCs; not used to that (spoken with IRL friends, no problem if its written), so my games would be mostly about dungeon crawling and puzzles. - Overall I prefer the game to be sightly more combat/dungeon oriented than focused on roleplaying; but I'm not picky and I also never tried the later, so who knows? I'm up for whatever. - I'm mostly familiar with old D&D (but could never play those a lot) and Pathfinder (I read a lot of it while trying to prepare my friends to play it), but again, I'm not really an advanced player and I have from little to no experience with other players from other places. My experience goes from reading the rules myself and then teaching IRL friends. Discussed a little on forums and even got some house rules, but unlike most people around here (I guess? may be wrong) I'm not used to having played with many different players/GMs. - I'm not a min-maxer but I would try to optimize my character/build I guess, choosing usually what seems more effective but without trying to break the game. - I don't have problems with house rules or GM decisions, even if they are thrown at me in the middle of a situation and I'm like "WTF? I didn't know I could/couldn't do that!" :-P - Something I never really liked about my IRL friends playing was how they would discuss everything (except one of them) as themselves, and not the characters. I can kinda respect/allow that, but when in a fight they are deciding what each player should do for max efficiency, not a big fan of that as I feel it removes an important pat of the game. They should learn to play together from their mistakes, not decide what everyone does as if they were a hive-mind playing a single character. But again, I'm up for whatever, and if the group prefers to speak out loud what we are going to do each round, I'm up for that no problem. - Oh, and I would rather start a campaign (or join one) at Lv1-3, not really advanced; but if you want me in your Lv5+ campaign let me know, but you may need to hold my hand a little more as, with my IRL friends never playing for a long time, I don't really have any experience with higher levels. And that's it I guess. I will probably check this several times a day for at least the next week. Hope to find a nice group. Again, Spanish or English (I'm used to speaking French, but not in RPG context, so I may not recognize so many names of creatures/spells/medieval-words, etc). TL;DR: Player (not GM), English/Spanish (maybe French), prefer typing than speaking if English, available 24/7, Pathfinder or similar, good player but not super experienced/advanced, I'm usually a GM (not this time), can play any class if necessary, would rather join a low level short campaign than a long or high level one, but if you want me in, let me know whatever the case and I will adapt. So, let me know. Thanks for reading (if you did!) and hope to find a group to play some!
