Goody and map generating software?

So I'm a couple of games into running my first Roll20 campaign (Hoard of the Dragon Queen, 5E) and am looking to up my game. I was wondering if there were any good programs out there for making good looking handouts? I'm thinking mostly about making scrolls, tablets, burnt maps ect. and any suggestions for making good original maps would be great. Thanks all! Loving the program, my old gaming group is spread out all over the map and it's great to be playing again!

I generally use The GIMP for graphic handouts I do. It really depenD's on what you're doing with them though. There are a ton of tutorials out there for various effects. Just search You Tube for something you want to make: "gimp scroll paper tutorial" and go to town. :)
The Aaron said: I generally use The GIMP .. Same, I also use a sprinkling of Krita for some hand painted illustrations when I need to put my wacom to work.

Ooh.. I'll have to try that. I have a Wacom and want to use it more...
Building Krita on Linux for cats You can also just download the one from your distributions PPA. If you run M$ or Crapple, there's downloads for those as well. The latest things are on Linux though.

OMG. That is the greatest software build guide I've ever seen. =D (worth the look even if you weren't going to install it!)
