LFG for Ongoing New World of Darkness - Wed/Thurs Nights - New Players Very Welcome

Hi, 20-Rollers! I am starting a New World of Darkness game titled Far From Any Road (also listed in the LFG system, look it up!). I ran a R20 nWoD game several months ago that went great. I'm looking at something a little more ambitious this time. Unlike most WoD games, which are focused on a single city, I propose to give my players more or less free run of the entire US Gulf Coast, essentially from Houston, TX to Pensacola, FL. The game will begin with a contained scenario (probably a murder mystery). After that, the players will probably want to have their characters establish some kind of hideout or home-base, and begin exploring what hides in the deepest shadows of the swamps and streets. Maybe they'll even become an ultra-discreet private investigation company for odd cases. This should allow me to introduce some variety: perhaps Houston will be run by a Changeling court, while New Orleans hosts Vampires fending off infrequent Werewolf raids. And who knows what's going on out in the hills and bayous. As you can probably tell, "True Detective" is a good guide to the tone I'm looking for. Interested so far? Read on: The game WILL BE: Focused on exploring mysterious places, uncovering forgotten secrets, and intrigue. Combat should be infrequent but risky. There are no casual, easy encounters in the World of Darkness. Sandbox style. The game will begin with a specific scenario designed to get the ball rolling. After that, I will present story hooks where I can, but what happens will be up to the players. True to the noir-gothic flavor suggested by the World of Darkness setting. That means, in this version of the world: it really is dangerous to go to the old abandoned house on the anniversary of the owner's suicide; the things that go bump in the night are much less dangerous than the things you never see coming; there very well may be a monster under your bed. Set in a version of the US Gulf Coast that has been altered to match the above bullet. Potentially, appropriate for any type of supernatural player-character. I always encourage mortals, and the ideas I have could work very well for a cell of Hunters, but I think it would be interesting to have a group with diverse abilities and needs. Can you make a Werewolf and a Sin-Eater get along? GREAT FOR FIRST-TIME OR NEW PLAYERS! This is the ideal game for you if you've read through the books, maybe built a few characters on paper, but never had the chance to actually play. Likely played over audio chat. I would be open to video, and my last game on R20 was played with all text. It has its advantages. Played on Wednesday or Thursday nights at 7:00 pm, US Central Time (which is UTC-6). This is to be negotiated once we have a group, of course. The game WILL NOT BE: Focused on dungeon crawling, though players my occasionally find themselves in something very much like a dungeon. A swashbuckling adventure. Unlike D&D, the World of Darkness setting does not mean that the PCs are exceptional souls capable of far more than ordinary people. As stated above, I will always do my best to present a dangerous world. After all, it's always going to be dangerous for a mere mortal to get in a fight with a two-thousand-year-old vampire lord (just an example). Designed to kill off PCs. The above bullet point does not mean that your characters will die left and right. It just means you will never find yourselves fighting level 1 rats. Railroaded, if I can help it! I know I have a writerly Storytelling (or GMing) style, but I will always do my best to present problems with multiple possible solutions. Ideally, the players will want to explore the sandbox enough to have their own goals. Totally open immediately. Look, I'm proposing a pretty massive setting here. If I foreshadow a place that sounds awesome to you, let me know, but understand that I probably can't let your players head to it immediately, with no prep-time for me. A democracy. Yes, the players always will have the freedom to choose what their characters do, whether that's open the door on the left or seek to overthrow the Summer King. However, I will have essential control over the game world. That doesn't mean I don't want suggestions and feedback! All GMs love suggestions and feedback! Please post a reply to this topic if you have any questions at all. If you are interested in playing, please send me a private message with a concept for a character. This can be as basic as: "I want to play a Changeling obsessed with hoarding magic items" or, "My character will be a disgraced but driven former police detective." If you consider yourself new to the World of Darkness (or RPGs in general), mention that, too. You're especially welcome! With the large scope I'm proposing, I expect four players will be the most I can handle. I ran five in the previous game, though, so I'd be willing to try it if a fifth person is very interested.
I'm curious about how often you plan on playing and how long each session would estimated to be?
I could potentially be interested in this......Though I prefer text to other forms of RP and would be completely unable to do video However, The main problem's with nwod crossovers are power balance(Mummy utterances and Demon exploits make changeling contracts look like parlor tricks) and theme balance(some, like mummy and promethean, do not mesh together at all) So I'd think there would have to be some sort of restriction.

Thank you, Cody: I forgot to say. I expect this to be a weekly game, with sessions lasting something like three hours, though that will vary in both directions, of course. As for Ninjasanta's concerns, I have a long answer and a short answer. The long version is about the tone of the game I'm trying to set. Raw combat power is not going to be the standard by which all characters should be judged. Of course, it probably wouldn't hurt to have a Werewolf around for the smashing and the slashing, but being a particular type of supernatural is going to matter more in terms of what knowledge and social structures you have access to than in how much pure pain you can dish out. The short version is that my last game had mixed splats, and I didn't mind managing that. Just part of my job as the ST. Ninjasanta does remind me to mention my experience level with different splats. I know my way around Vampire: the Requiem and Changeling: the Lost, plus the basic mortal rules, quite well. Mage: the Awakening, Werewolf: the Forsaken, and Geist: The Sin-Eaters, I can handle with a little bit of brushing up. However, I would be starting from near-scratch with some of the later splats, like Promethean, Demon, and Mummy. I don't mind doing my homework on them if you want to play one, but consider whether it might annoy you to put up with a ST who knows less about your particular supernatural's rules than you do.
I sent you a private message, but I'd like to also post it here that I am thoroughly enthusiastic about this idea and would love to join.
I'm glad this sounds like fun to you, too, Cody! Further information will be on its way to you by private message. Three slots still open. Anyone else up?

Sounds cool, the only gamelines that really don't work for crossovers are demon, mummy, and promethian. Because being around a promethian for a long bit of time will inevitably make you want to kill them, mummies start off as the most powerful splats in the game but weaken quickly, and Demons are actively being hunted by the God-Machine all the time I'll send you a pm with char ideas
Please count me in Skype: Randy_Beat
Not sure if you saw the post on the game's page, but I'm interested as well.
I am absolutely interested in playing. I love nWoD and if you don't already have one would love to play the werewolf but am more than willing to play whatever is needed
Is that full, or is there room for one more?

If there is room, I am quite interested. I have no issue playing any splat, or even a mortal, tossed in with supernaturals, anything works for me, but a slight preference towards Prometheans and Demons for me (I know, I am that guy, sorry. They just have such interesting stories for me.) (Let me express this again, I am VERY VERY INTERESTED!) In that vein, Demon is probably the better choice though, for fitting in with others. Prometheans tend to make people angry (Disquiet.)
I have not played WoD but i am very interested
I'm interested in joining. I have not played a Tabletop game, but have RP'd before. I'm more than willing to learn though. :)
Also very interested in this. It looks like your full but I'd love to be considered if a spot opens up. But I'm curious how your going to handle the difference between the Splats that have been updated (Mornal, hunter, Vampire, demon,) and the ones that haven't?
