Lost progress

I was building a small campaign to run, and it seems to have lost a few hours of work. I had imported in a map and set it's fog of war, and that was all fine. I then imported in a handout, and another map. I spent forever fiddling with the scaling on the map. Then I fiddled with the cards a little bit, and started to make an NPC character. I was in the character editor screen, and dragged an image from one tab in Chrome onto that tab. I was curious to see if it would let me upload a file that way, or if I had to always drag from my desktop. It didn't work, and instead just opened up the image in the tab I was using for roll20. No biggie, hit the back button... and everything was gone. I still have the first map, and it's fog of war/visibility set. But everything else is gone. the city map I added, the handout, all nuked. Luckily it still has the files saved in my library and starred, so I can recreate it fairly quickly. But was very odd that it completely nuked everything. It was kinda like it didn't save all the work I had done. Is there a way to force-save our work periodically? I had assumed it was being saved instantly as I work.
Normally, changes you make are saved instantly. If I had to guess, you somehow lost connection to the servers, so any changes you made were only saved locally. As to how you could lose connection without the warning banner showing up, I'm not sure, but I think that it happened to someone in the past as well.
I spent several hours working on a new page. The connection was good, no lag. Then I left the game, re-entered and the page was gone. My work on another page was also lost. Kind of discouraging. I'm not sure if I want to bother putting a lot of work into maps until these bugs are worked out.
I have lost a map. Funny, but it is not one I was currently working on. It was from a test campaign I had begun when I discovered Roll20, so nothing really important. I just opened it after some times and the map was still there, but the background I had placed on it was gone and there was some funky colors on the map. Rather strange. Now, this is still beta with all the risks associated with it, so, we must accept that we are experimenting and that kind of things can happen.
This same thing has happened to me multiple times. I have had to remake this one map at least three times because large chunks keep disappearing between sessions. I have studied which tokens and map pieces are missing and they don't appear to be the ones most recently placed (like a saving issue of some sort). I'll keep experimenting to see if I can give you more details rather than this very vague complaint. :)
Hmmm...I would be very interested in any more information you guys can give me on this. Sorry that you are having issues!
The GM in the game I played yesterday had a similar issue. His map progress would not be saved, he would not receive our chat messages, and we could not receive his. There was no visible indicator of disconnection. He seemed to think it happened every time he used the "to front" option. I also lost connection at least twice with no visible indicator, the only indication was that I was not receiving any chat messages and nothing was happening. There seemed to be no trigger for that. We were not using voice/video. I was using chrome, I believe my GM was using firefox as it kept crashing on his chrome installation.
Bumping this thread. We haven't had many reports of this, and obviously this is a gamebreaking problem if it is happening. We want to know EVERYTHING we can know about this if at all possible.
I keep having a similar issue. It seems to randomly lose parts of my work. There isn't always a clear "this is where it stopped" thing to it either. I may have on an entire section of it, and one random part in the middle is missing or is the only part left. Sometimes the part(s) left is something that I had deleted. Edit: After a bit more testing, I discovered that my issue seems to be related only to the drawing tool. Any text I enter or tokens I place, regardless of layer, are unaffected. Likewise, drawing I do on any layer is often affected. Edit (again): After more work on my game, I noticed that my issue was consistently with lines that used the straight line key and were 1 side of a square (1 in).
Billy -- Thanks so much for doing some more research into this and helping us track down the issue. I will take a hard look at that functionality and determine if I can see what the trouble is... Also: When you lose parts of it, do you lose the whole thing you drew? Or just the last line?
I seem to lose most of the 1 in lines I draw. Everything else remains (circles, larger lines, and free-hands). Sometimes a few of the 1 in lines will remain while others disappear.
