Looking for side view fantasy tokens

Does anyone know where I can get side view tokens for adventurers and common monsters? thanks

Haven't seen a set of those, unfortunately. It sounds very cool. I certainly know some web tools to generate side-view dungeon maps that look great. It would be fun to populate them with side-view characters & monsters.
Depending on exactly what you're after a good option could be computer game sprites, for example: http://www.spriters-resource.com/pc_computer/adndbeholder/ could work as a starting point.

https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/search/Pixel... Might be what you are looking for? In my experience side view sets sell very poorly compared to top down.
My issue with the top down tokens is that they are hard to decipher when you have the map scrolled out to show a wide area view.

I always use portrait tokens, as top-down is too easily lost in the fray.

Fair warning: zoomed out, those Pixel Panic tokens won't look very good either. They're very distinctive at 70x70, and not so great below that. (With that said: thanks to Alan for linking to them! There are a few free ones, which you can play around with here .) If you're looking for tokens that work better with condensed maps...yeah, I'd resize roll20's grid and turn to video game sprites. Roll20 doesn't really have anything that's built to work well at 16x16 or 32x32, which sounds like what you want. My guess is that turn-based strategy is the genre most likely to have lots of little map-view sprites. You could probably also take those little Pokemon icons and turn them into monsters if you're feeling artsy. You can use xBRZ to scale small sprites up so they still look passable when zoomed in. It's not vector art, but it's the next best thing.
Thanks for all the replies. Simon S, can you recommend a site to download portrait tokens?

The marketplace has portrait tokens and there is http://www.rptools.net/index.php?page=tokentool that will allow you to make your own tokens to upload here also.

Pat S beat me to it, I use TokenTool almost exclusively for creating tokens. Over the years of using Maptool and Roll20, I've made a few thousand tokens using the program, and a few token borders.

I use simple paint/photo editing programs to make my own, start with a circle with a reasonable width, add some colour depending on the content (i use blue for PC, White for NPC, Red for Enemies and Yellow for 'other'; companions/familiars and such). Make the centre and background transparent and ensure to save this as a template in png format to preserve the transparency. Then either google or otherwise find images to use in the 'centre' of the circles, a bit of tweaking is required but with practice you can easily make the token of your dreams in seconds, each one takes me less time than finding the image does now. Obviously if you are wanting full body images without borders you can disregard this entire message lol... but the find an image and cut it out with a transparent background still applies ;)
