Looking for Player for Call of Cthulhu - Tuesdays, 6 PM EST

Hey guys, I'm looking for a player for a Call of Cthulhu game we play on Tuesdays at 6 PM EST. We play with stock CoC rules, but with some house rule changes to fit the style of game the players want. Rather than a game of throwing your characters into the jaws of the beast and rerolling every week, we're trying to create a game where the characters have a bit of longevity and your choices matter. Rather than walking into a room and throwing dice at the wall to find evidence, your choices and actions as a player matter just as much as the dice roll. We try to bring some traditional tabletop aspects to the game, but respecting the lore of the universe Lovecraft created. We'd love to get another player who wants their character to have a meaning and longevity, fighting for preservation, being cautious and examining the evidence presented, and values decision making over being a victim of the dice. Be cautious, do your research, think about your options, and you can survive with at least a shred of sanity intact. Looking forward to hearing from some people and getting a new investigator into the game. If you have questions about what is changed regarding the base rules, I'd be more than happy to answer and always have open ears. Peace
Hey! I've been looking for a Cthulhu game online forever. I'm an experienced Call of Cthulhu GM and player, both Chaosium and d20 versions. I've been a big fan of Lovecraft and the mythos ever since I read Call of Cthulhu for the first time about 10 years ago. I've been looking for a group where roleplaying and investigation are more important than dice rolling, and I've never one to be much of a power-gamer. The story and the inter-party relationships are much more important to me, both as a GM and as a player. Are you running a specific module, or is this something of your own creation? I only ask because I've played in a good chunk of Chaosium's printed adventures, and wouldn't want to already know how it plays out. I'll PM you my contact info if you'd like to talk about this further. Thanks!
No problem, Brandon. I've replied to your PM with an exhaustively long bit of information about the questions you asked. We started out with the book/supplement modules, but I'm essentially trying to craft a storyline for the characters and using the supplements as a base for reference -- stealing stuff from them and reskinning it to pertain to what the characters are dealing with. The modules are a bunch of one-shot campaigns loosely tied together, and we're trying to create more of an over-arching storyline where the investigators are more important and have a stake in what's going on, rather than just being another cut-out from the local cloning facility that can be plugged into the game. Like I said, responded in length to you in PM. Feel free to ask any more questions and if there's any other interested players, feel free to get in touch. As a group we're mostly looking for someone who has the same ideas in mind about what we want the game to do for us and who fits with the group dynamic. Cheers and looking forward to hearing from you guys.
