However, my players would prefer to use a token which features their character portrait. So is there a way to cut part of the art they've chosen - the face obviously - and place it in a moveable token that looks like this: Hi David. Token Tool is a free program that you could use to make your own tokens similar to the one you posted. You could also use a program like GIMP , depending on your skill/experience with a graphics editor. Perfect! Thanks Vince

Hey all I'm having trouble with macros. I entered a 5e D&D character's stats into the character sheet. I then dragged the attack and damage buttons into the macro quickbar. However, when I select an attack macro it gives me two numbers: So X and Y vs. AC? (in the example above, 20 and 21). I don't understand why there are two values? The character sheet has been done correctly, I think:

Hello David, The sheet is setup to follow the rules in 5E that state if you are at an advantage you uses the highest roll and if you are at a disadvantage use the lowest. For more detail your gm can point you to the relevant rules in the system.

So if your character doesn't have advantage or disadvantage do you just use the number on the left?

Yes, you use the number on the left if neither ad/disadvantage applies.
Hi Everyone and rambomustard, I finally got back on line and can't wait to play
In talking to a friend on instagram, I was told about this site. Told them I was interested in the concept of the gaming thing, so on so forth. And literally this is the greatest website I've ever seen? I know 0 about any of this, but you guys have some serious great reading material. I guess I just wanted to say thanks for making a cool website that is newbie friendly?

Welcome Eli C. As Ziechael has shown we are a very friendly site that tries to encourage the pass it forward mentality. If you need any help, be it getting your campaign setup, having a problem using the site, or any other question involving the use of roll20, please make a post. We have specific sections for certain posts. If you have a problem then the bug and & technical forum is for that, if you have a specific question then the specific use forum is there, and the most commonly used forum is the Looking for Groups forum . There are other forum sections but those are the main three that most people usually use. Now don't forget our Looking for Group search engine found up top in the blue banner. It has a filter in it that filters out all non newbie games, called welcomes new players, so that you only see the games that are beginner friendly. Just a brief note about finding games, do not get discouraged if you don't get in your first game. There is a high ratio of players to a low number of GM's so you will have to give a good introductory post to encourage the GM to pick you. I would recommend you read some peoples posts (including the GM's) to get a feel what is expected and accepted because each GM has different ideas of what is expected for their games. Good luck and happy gaming.

That was another thing that kind of sold me on the site? That I wasn't like, alone in being new. I wasn't going to be weird and sitting on the outskirts because I knew nothing. Because there are plenty of people who are new too. It's comforting. Not so much like being the new kid in class. Well it is! And it's great to know it's such a welcoming community. I'm one of those fun social anxiety people, so I always dread any sort of 'meeting new people' and this, being online and seeming not only really accepting but totally non-intimidating? It's great. I hovered for a few weeks, checking out a lot of things, I was grossly paranoid but I'm real glad I signed up, everyone seems so sweet, and helpful. It's just. Lovely.
