Last Session

How did you guys like last night session?
Absolutely loved it. The constant switching between Vetari, Marit, Darvin, and then Orryn, Tarnach, and belanor was frantic and action packed. The way that everyone was still doing relevant things was awesome. I would like to do another session like this sometime, but definitely sparingly. We do it too much and it just becomes normal.
I liked it. I think more of this sort of play will allow everyone to continue to do things that are relevant to their interests and to how they are best able to contribute in the moment. For example, Vetari was able to learn a new spell, prep a cake, and begin the search for our missing weapon, all things that may have taken us as a group an hour to do.
I have been very busy but wanted to drop a note here. I remember when Marco told the group he preferred combat because he's new at role playing and not very good at it ... well the session started off, If I recall, of a very cool and sincere scene of Marco (Tarnach) speaking in character and beseeching his god to allow his creature companion to rejoin him in the living as his familiar - /mindblown Well done Marco!
Thanks trace. I appreciate that.
Killed 2 cultists, and a hook horror. By the skin of your teeth you pressed onward past a talking rug and a dead priestess of Hel to the main prayer chamber where Quiezart (now dishonored) and Scarchin awaited...an epic battle ensues. The dragon, Darlonza'la returns for her daughter's murderer. And a wizard named Vetari has a cake and the answer -- it was Quiezart! We have him trapped! We are badly injured and in need of assistance. in a tense moment, you await the dragon's response (will she kill us? will she help us) Then she says "You've done well, human..." ------------------------------------------------------------------ Thoughts? Reactions? Also --- inspiration votes for last session??
I thought it was awesome. I knew that you wouldn't have us face a full grown dragon cause that's just beyond us right now, but you still had to resolve the situation somehow. The solution: let us cast the blame and let the chips fall where they may. Love it. As for inspiration, I gotta nominate Darvin or Orryn for combat. They were all over it last session. Whichever one doesn't have inspiration yet. Roleplaying I would say had vetari shine again this session, but he didn't use his last inspiration. I'll look to whatever the party thinks in this regard.
I had a family emergency when I got home and couldn't get to my pc. (Everything is okay now) What did I miss? Tell me we didn't finish this story!
Yeah we totally did. We found out who caused all the problems with the portal and ended them. You missed the last session Chris lol. On a serious note, no we waited to continue major parts of the story for next week.

The solution: let us cast the blame and let the chips fall where they may. Love it. Thanks, but I had no idea Trace was going to place the blame on Queizart! I just knew that with the right words, cake, and mentioning Ipsilus' name, he could really persuda Darlonza'la and then use the dragon to his advantage in some way... As of now I'll say Darvin and Orryn get inspiration (since Vetari still has his). Chris Garrett said: I had a family emergency when I got home and couldn't get to my pc. (Everything is okay now) What did I miss? Tell me we didn't finish this story! No worries Chris. Currently you just missed part of the big boss battle with Quiezart and Scarchin. Poisa will be obliterated in a sacrafice to Hel if the party can't stop it in the next few rounds. Everyone is pretty injured/low on resources and its still in the middle of the fight with a lot of fun left for you when we start up again next session.
So last session we discovered the murders of Tula were scarchin and Queizart. Those were the people we were following all along. When we confronted them, a battle ensued, throughout which an elaborate sigil was being filled with blood to complete a sacrifice to the goddess Hel. On the sacrifice alter was Poisa, bound and beaten. We continued combat, with some of the more memorable moments being: A shatter spell I cast through marit on the organ that Queizart was playing, forcing him to be struck by shatter and shrapnel. Queizart casting evard's black tentacles on belanor and marit, only to be interupted before anything major could happen thanks to a failed concentration check by darvin's attack. A powerful crossbow bolt loosed by orrin that devastated queizart. Tarnach using shocking grasp twice on scarchin, with advantage since scarchin was in a pool of blood. Marit using shatter again on an area that destroyed part of the blood sigil, making it take longer to complete, one of the totem poles, and part of the pentagram on the floor. Orrin one shotting a demon summoned by queizart, all by himself. Vetari offering his cake up to the dragon, causing her to swing in our favor. Then as of this session: The dragon roared to terrify the entire room, except Vetari, but belanor saved with a badass roll. Belanor proceeded to down Queizart with a flurry of blows, then he launched him 15 feet away into the middle of the burrning remains of the organ. Darvin took down queizart by jumping over his prone body and slamming his sword down into the ground, pinning him there. Scarchin proceeded to tangle with marit and tarnach, though belanor and orryn jumped in to help. It was at this point that I had Marit use Tasha's hiddeous laughter(NEVER GET RID OF THAT lol), and belanor and orryn proceeded to wail on him. Scarchin tried to command belanor to stand in front of poisa but he saved. After that, Tarnach stabbed Scarchin in the throat and drowned him in the pool of blood. The dragon ate Queizart during the fight, but regurgitated him after wards so we could grab a wand of magic missile that does not recharge, and the midding voidbrella. She also told us to meet her in the town square tomorrow for more treasure. We slept at the castle, then went to Hash'loz's shop in the morning to pick up our commissioned goods. The party members got various items of material wealth, marit getting a chalice and 100 year old brandy, and one magic item, the gauntlets. That's where you came in. Darvin also got a locket that belonged to his sister, with a picture of her beloved inside. It was loot from a city that the dragon had assaulted. You were with us for the rest of the session after that, though I should also add that belanor finished crafting his final healing potion, and I created some sling bullets made of pepper, crushed glass, and other irritating materials to blind enemies with. I believe that covers everything that happened between last session and this one, though anyone feel free to jump in and add something.
Thank you for that great recap Marco! I would add that yes we did level up to 5, So Marit will need to choose a few spells and perhaps another option or two.
What do you all think about the Green Lady?
I think it's fun to see creatures of more than a material nature. Granted, they still have a physical form, but fae, celestials, and other types of creatures are just flowing with so much more power and magic. It's cool.
BTW Rob, I was wondering if there was a reason the stones split last session when I threw one. Remember two more popped up? I was wondering if there was some criteria for that. And for the remaining stones changing color to mine. What was the criteria for that?
The middle stone was a splitting stone that sprouted more and could have continuously done so The other stone was a changing stone and swapped all colors to the opposite. It just so happened that all the remaining stones swapped to your color, red. There are some tweaks to the game that I may make and bring it back later on... Also have to think of a name for that mini game
Yeah I don't know about everyone else but I loved the game. If it's alright with you, I might bring it up in my own game. It was a great deal of fun.
Tons of fun tonight all. Hilarious and wonderful combat. Welcome Timber to the group and I can't wait to see the results of our Bard Off! Thanks for the back up!
Hey Rob, I was wondering if we could get together and go over some of the things that happened last session to singing shadow. I know Belanor told me that it is a +1 shortsword and it can cast the snuff shadows cantrip, You also mentioned that it can telepathically speak with me. I just wanted to go over more details. Also, I could use some help with my alternate game. I can't seem to keep tokens locked on a character, and have to keep assigning them to each player repeatedly. I'd appreciate some help with that if we can meet up on teamspeak.
Also, here's a picture of singing shadow so you can add it into the game.

She doesn't speak to you telepathically, the sword vibrates as she speaks and only in ancient Dragonborn that is even sometimes hard for you to understand. She hasn't said much yet as you haven't tried to speak to her yet. It's kind of like Vetari's master's soul that is trapped in his spellbook, but different purposes. I don't know why your tokens wouldn't be assigned unless you're moving from one page to another page. Anytime you move from one page to another make sure to copy all tokens and paste them to the new page. I find that is the easiest way. Also I did show everyone your sword image when it was finished being created.
Speaking of last session, What were memorable moments for you guys? How scared were you of the Hezrou demon?
Okay I just wanted to be sure. Cause I know magic items and stuff have a bunch of properties that are available to them, minor, major, quirks, flaws, and sentient items even get senses. That's the kind of stuff I was referring to. And I will definitely try copy and pasting. That's exactly the reason that kept happening. I was changing pages. Never occurred to copy them.

DM Rob said: Speaking of last session, What were memorable moments for you guys? How scared were you of the Hezrou demon? Not as much as the "beasts of burden" or the quicksand from last game. Any respectable enemy can 3-4 shot us; it's the fact that our options are limited by the terrain/encounter that makes things exciting.
I feel like it was the first just straight heavy duty damage tank that you haven't seen yet
For me, every fight we get in is scary, I mean, even outnumbered by goblins we could get wrecked. So the demon wasn't any more scary to me than anything that could potentially kill me in 2 or 3 hits. I did think that fight was really interesting though, and the one with the Drow and Yuan-ti in the forest and the one earlier with the dragon wyrmling in the wind because you continually have us fighting not just creatures, but the environment, which I really like.
I'm so bummed we're not playing this week. I need more game time with y'all!
While I do agree, I'm grateful for the time off cause my alternate game is crazy fun. I literally haven't even planned tomorrow's session, but procrastination has gifted me again.

Chris Garrett said: I'm so bummed we're not playing this week. I need more game time with y'all! Now that you've all completed the first quest given by General Cassian, you know what's next... a long travel north to even more dangerous territory.
This is the only game I'm in, though I do have a weekly board game night with my co-workers. Just played an awesome game called 'Colt Express'
Well as I said, my session is later today. I believe this is our sixth or seventh session. So far, my players have traveled from our world into a fantasy world that is tied into our own. In the fantasy world there are 6 Archons, elementals that saved the world and grew in power after everyone started worshipping them. The archon of darkness is spreading his influence and the evil is leaking out into our world, which is why everything's going to crap. They've been training for a year now, and have come under attack of an evil cult dedicated to the spread of darkness. They're tracking this cult down to stop them, but last session, they were sidetracked by a request to save the dwarven city of gem rubble from an apparent plague that was killing everyone. They traveled to the ethereal plane so that they can track down the culprit, which turned out to be some shadows, a specter, and a ghost all using their powers to sap the strength of the living. This session is going to be more role play, as I'm going to introduce a drow female that is on the verge of being transformed into a shadow, but her own willpower is keeping her human for now. They'll have to find a way to stabilize her. Once they do, she'll be a foothold into meeting with the drow themselves, which nobody has done before.
June 14 Last night's session was fun! I rather enjoyed the mass combat and think the introduction of new mechanics which we may presumably use more during this campaign more than makes up for combat starting a little slow, plus Marit and Vetari will hopefully be around to see what they've done.
Thanks Rob, it did take a little getting used to as it is a different, larger scale style of play. When you imagine the amount of lives in your hands, and the faceless swarming the skies and the soldiers and fey shouting into the night, I think it makes for a pretty epic scene.
