Wednesday March 11, 2:05PM Central USA time. Player meet-up (optional, for anyone-everyone who can make it), and character creation introduction session (scheduled with new recruits Chris C. and Battalia + also Patrick is planning to attend, I think Gray may be absent as we agreed last week to give a week for recruitment). Tuesday March 17, St. Patrick's Day, 2:05PM Central USA time (day/time subject to change according to Player feedback) A special quest available for the full party. Players please RSVP / Reply and let me know if you can attend at this time and confirm when it is penciled on your calendar. If you wouldn't be able to join that time, please re-state your availability for Monday 16, Tuesday 17, Wednesday 18, and I'll run a session at the best matching times, or possibly meet with each person with an individual session on whatever day you can play. Note that I can't play at the 2:05PM slot on Wednesday 18. I have a one-time conflict on that day. Could play earlier or later on that day, possibly, but would rather set the game for Tuesday 17 if that's okay with Players. Looking ahead, full party should adventure in earnest into one of 3 classic modules waiting and baited for your interest. Let's set a date. Monday March 23? Second-most likely day. Tuesday 24. Maybe. Wednesday 25. The #1 most likely day. Pending attendance, availability, feedback from the Players. Thursday 26. Maybe. More News from the GM and Roll20: I am working on recruiting more Player-Characters . There are a couple applicants who seem pretty cool, and compatible. I'm still open for others. Ideally we would have 4-6 people, with minimum 3-4 attending on any given week if 2-3 people need to miss occasionally. Roll20 came out with a massive new "Update Of Holding". Some of the new features include opening your character sheet in a pop-out window, and putting Bold or Italics in the chat, or Pictures or Links in the chat!
I'd be happy to play on Tuesday next week, as an exception - I happen to be free that day. Looking forward to meeting Chris tomorrow!
Hi Gold, I will definitely attempt to make it tomorrow/today (March 11). I am not seeing a problem with it. We can discuss ideas then if you wish since I will most likely have a few questions. I am extremely familiar with 2E so I see no problems there. I am guessing you are planning on meeting in Skype. You should be able to find me by looking for battalia66 or Battalia.

Good shape! Yes, at game time, be "on" Skype and go ahead and enter the game table by clicking Join Game. For Monday 11 we should have Patrick (plays Mithros the Elf Archer Ranger PC, I'll let him tell you more in-game), Chris C (new on Roll20 and interested in a few types of classes), Battalia (interested in making some kind of Rogue type probably, this can change). Gray may be absent this session and back for next session. He played last week's session (Kenku Transmuter, quite interesting) and we agreed to devote this week to player recruitment. Jack is MIA. The door is still open. His character idea was going to be so cool. I'm sad I've lost contact with him and hope he comes back around to play. Reply if you see this, my friend. @Battalia I sent you Skype request. Name is gold.freedom and has a picture of a car license plate says GOLD.
Welcome new recruits, it's very cool to have you join us. Well done Gold for getting the ball rolling again. I will definitely not be able to attend today, Mar 11. Either 24th or 25th look good. I'm not sure about St Patrick's Day though - I am Irish and in Ireland, after all ... although I don't have anything planned right now, there may well be other demands on my time that day ... However, either 16th or 18th should work.

@Gray, Hmm, bit of a misunderstanding on my part then, because last time we played, I wrote down that you said Monday Tuesday or Wednesday would work for that next week, if we skipped this week.
Gold -- yes, you're absolutely right, I did say that. I hadn't realized at the time that the Tuesday was St Pat's Day. But you know what, it's 80%-90% likely I can do the Tuesday anyway if that's the night that works best for others. And can def do the Mon or Wed.

After-session update! Whew. DM getting a bit sleepy, but I want to go ahead and post this update. We had a good time & a long 4-way talk today. Battalia and Chris created new Characters. Patrick joined in the banter and had 3 little tidbits of minor encounters for Mithros -- the petite elf archer remains a formative character in the foundation of this adventure set-up, knowing some Lore & contacts around the town of Portlandio already. Battalia will be playing Jade a black-cat-lady (species called a Rakasta, more like a kitty-cat humanoid than a tiger). She has black fur & is a Rogue Ninja. Chris is making Airen a Bullywug (frog-man from the Northern Swamps near Portlandio peninsula), he's a mage specialist in Conjuration & Summoning. He is a rare sample of a literate Bullywug with maximum 14 Intelligence in his frog brain, and he actually speaks Elvish and Lizardman as well as Common and Froggish languages. I've added a short Cast-profile sentence about each PC, on the Campaign main-page (just above the Player avatars). Gray , that's understandable, we are not going to hold you to the fire for attending D&D on Saint Patrick's Tuesday, if you're celebrating heavily in Northern Ireland. Of course if you're able to spare the freetime, it could be a fun adventure for that particular day, a celebration in our own way. The upcoming sessions remain scheduled as follows (subject to change but please pencil these on your calendar): Tuesday March 17 (St. Pat's, side quest) , and looking ahead to Wednesday 25 (should be Full Party prepared for adventuring!) . @Battalia & Chris please try to steadily answer the various Player & PC question threads on the campaign forum, between now and the next game session if you can. We can dialog in those threads to help finish your character sheets and any questions.

Read the post above for the after session update from today. https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1698940/#post-17... One of these kind of cat-people is in the party now ^ (Rakasta pic)
So is the plan to play 17th and 25th? I'm checking just because I've just found out the the US has already moved the clocks forward an hour, whereas this doesn't happen for a few weeks here in the UK. So I'll have to start playing an hour earlier than usual. Shouldn't be a problem, but I need to let the wife know which nights it will be happening.

Status is: Game on. March 17 St Patrick's Day side quest (Gray, Chris, Battalia), March 25 adventures to wherever you guys want to go next (full party). The time that's displayed on the campaign main-page should show correctly for your computer's time zone, if that helps in confirming.

Looking forward to tonight guys. And then the 25th. Just looking ahead a bit, the week following that I don't think I'll be able to do the Wednesday (April 1), so I'm hoping we can do the Tue or Mon (March 30/31) instead.

Me too! Thanks for the heads up regarding the upcoming scheduling. I will take that into account and look at my calendar for that week too. DM update... I'm just about all set up for today (St. Pat's adventure). It's a combination of home-made adventure, plus a "one page adventure" from a D&D module, on theme for the holiday. The main mystery of the adventure is purely problem-solving and role play. I've added in some bits that could make for some combat, and a puzzle-like element, for fun too. See you guys later today!
All good, but just one problem -- that's a four-leaf clover, not a shamrock!
Greetings Gentlemen! My apologies for being so silent since last week. All hell broke loose over in my little part of the world and I've been busy as sin trying to get things taken care of before my final classes start tomorrow. I still have a lot to do but am setting some time aside today to play Jade before I start my last 9 weeks of insanity tomorrow. I'm not sure if I can get any of those posts done for you Gold beforehand, but I will do my best after my errands are finished. See you in a few hours!

Gray F. said: All good, but just one problem -- that's a four-leaf clover, not a shamrock! Is that a boo boo? We'll ask you to explain the distinction to us in the game. Over here (Southern USA) we think that a 4-leaf clover is like a lucky find, and it's positively associated with the 3-leaf shamrock, and the holiday. I've dropped a few lucky 4-leaf clovers into the adventure (your PC's are supposed to find them), so forgive me if I've over-generalized. It's a fantasy nod to St. Patrick's Day, and may not be entirely culturally correct.

For now, just Save your Backstory, Journal, and-or Notes on today's session... in your text editor or someplace you save text. (On your character sheet in-game is fine too). In due time, I'll make a public thread in the Campaign forum to share your backstory. I wanted people to see the tone of the world & adjust your origins before you completely finalize your backstory up to this point. Backstory... Post later. Journal about St Patrick's Day session... Prepare to post sooner. Very soon (later today) I'll make a Journal thread about the party adventures that have begun in earnest today , for everyone to post whatever-you-want in retrospect of the St. Patrick's adventure. Your post could range from a 1-liner, to an encounters list, or a diary/journal written like a story. I'll provide some digital images. You can add Google pictures or your own drawings if you want. For now just get ready & watch for the Journal thread to be posted. In the meantime, any Out-Of-Character comments / feedback / or questions from today's session -- you can reply here. Did you like it? Thanks for playing Gray, Chris, and Battalia. I think it was a fun side-quest offbeat session for the holiday. It was supposed to be kind of weird and, well, hopefully kind of magical... Visual component, theater of the mind, problem-solving, 1/3 combat, some roleplay, high fantasy and high magic, starting weak and working your way up in power gradually. Themes of the campaign that were woven in today. I felt you 3 all played it great, in the style, and employed some narrative, descriptions, thoughtfulness, and role-playing. We'll plan to play on TUESDAY next week March 24 (changed from Wednesday) & the week following Tuesday March 31. XP was given in-game. Everyone should add the given "line of XP" on your Character Bio tab in-game. (Click on your character sheet > Bio Tab > click EDIT > paste in the XP line of text > click SAVE). Next Tuesday we start to explore the area of the Abandoned Mansion on a seaside cliff, across the bay inlet from Portlandio village. When the Kenku PC flew over it, this was the only area that had a Thunderhead and lightning strike. The mansion had a foreboding appearance.
I thought it was a fun, nicely light-hearted session, both for St Patrick's Day and for our first session together. Nice way to get The Zoo going. The different personalities of the PC's came out really nicely. Looking forward to something quite different next week ...

Working on next week's adventure possibilities. It's going to be good. There are monsters, mystery, sound effects, top-down maps, 3D visual pictures of some of the scenes. There are NPC's, allies, henchmen, neutrals, extras, red herrings (false leads, distractions), and enemies. It's a mystery-based adventure to an abandoned mansion / rumored haunted house. I expect this Mansion will take 3-4 sessions/weeks to play through (a month of weekly play), and along the way we will make connections to additional adventure hooks in the world. Also still working on more Player recruitment, on the side. New Players might come, or, you might wish to recruit a few NPC's / Hirelings to help. The next adventure is designed for 5-8 characters so we are a bit short with 3. Henchmen are defined here as your friends (found in the game world) whom you charm or recruit to your cause, and the Players control them. Hirelings are defined as NPC's who you pay to serve the party, and the Players share control with the DM (so their loyalty is less secure). In the event of Hirelings, your PC's would remain the central leaders of the party, and controllers of the action, and the extras would be a side-show to help at your command (though they might disagree occasionally if the DM is playing them). Journal Request: Gray , Chris , and Battalia -- Each Player please respond in the Journal thread about last week's game, preferably before the start of next session. Your response can range from 1 paragraph, up to unlimited story length. 250 to 500 words is the recommended wordcount but you can go above or below, as you like. Short is OK. Please don't skip this because you wanted to write a long story and need more time. Just write a short paragraph for now. You can add more later if you want to. If anyone has not written a journal by the start time of next session, we will take a break before gameplay picks up, and ask you to write your journal right then, at the start of the session. If it comes down to that, you'll just need to write a single paragraph extemporaneously, and this should take 5 minutes or less. The key is full participation of all the Players, in the Journaling process. This is where we keep a record of what's happened in the game, and enhance the gameplay to include text interaction outside the game-session times. It helps with character development and character expression, and should be a fun part of the campaign. We are not concerned about having the perfect story and publication-quality writing. Just a few sentences expressing the perspective of your PC in relation to last week's Leprechaun adventures, will be sufficient. Drawings are also good, even very amateur art like a cartoon or a sketch, if you want to draw instead of writing. New players will look at the Journal threads to catch up and get the feel of the adventures, encounters, opponents, fellow PC's, and campaign history. To help jump-start your Journal, I'm going to Assign the following 3 pictures, to the existing 3 Players. You are each responsible for writing a caption for just 1 picture. The caption you write is to-be a short story expressing your character's memories of the encounter that happened in the scene depicted in the picture. 1 paragraph minimum for each caption / story / Player, or a drawing instead. Note: You can write a story about the whole day's adventure, or you can write a story about only the picture that I'm assigning to you. You can go beyond the assigned picture if you choose. I want to assign 1 picture each because some Players may find it easier to take a bite-size memory of last week, rather than trying to tackle journaling the entire adventure so far at once. Post your Journal paragraph here: https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1724663/post-jou... Your journal could start with something as simple as "Remember that one time when ______" Or "a scene that my character made an impact was _____" Gray , respond to this image: (Write something short about how Kryikh was flying before this across the sheep-pasture, but you landed as the trees got more dense, and to help the party look for a shamrock and lucky clovers. Then a leprechaun ninja dropped out of a tree, and tell how you charmed him and what his name is.) Chris , respond to this image: (Tell about the spell or spells Airen casted in this scene.) Battalia , respond to this image: (Please tell a sentence each about the old-lady-leprechaun who was so exhausted from dancing that she teetered and fell into the lily-pond. Tell another sentence about how Jade noticed a Dryad woman who passed-out and hit her head on a rock, and how you recruited the party to help carry her back to her soul-tree where she made a full recovery). After you post this, I will give you a reward that the Dryads gave to Jade, which I forgot to mention during the session. (!) Be sure to post your response in the Journal thread for March , not in the current Status thread.

Dear Players: Gray , Battalia , Chris . The game is prepared for you today! *The sound of rolling thunder* Adventure to the grounds of an old abandoned-looking mansion on a seaside cliff, several miles across the bay from Portlandio. The house is on the other side of the large swath of swamplands (where Airen the bullywug came from). Kryikh has flown near the house before, and he spotted some kind of movement, possibly flying creatures perched on the rooflines and rafters of the place. The Kenku also thought he saw a black cat there. (It wasn't the Rakasta cat, but might perk Jade's interest to meet a cat of the same color stock). Session time starts in about 11 hours from now. The countdown time is displayed on the campaign main page.

Game On tomorrow / Tuesday, don't forget! Journaling the campaign. I have enjoyed the posted Journals about last session from Gray and Chris . I will reply to the substance of those posts (I'll reply with something for you to learn or obtain in-the-game-world, and I will answer Kryikh's question about his weather sense and if the lightning strike appeared natural or unnatural), as well giving as an XP bonus to everyone who gets their Journal posted before the next game session begins. Battalia if you have time, toss up at least a sentence of Jade's impressions from breaking into the mansion. I'll respond directly in the Journal thread, and haven't done it yet because I have been working daily on an illustration to add to the thread myself (it is a picture of all your characters and NPC's from the first adventure to the abandoned mansion). Also have spent time recruiting new Player-Characters. Don't think that I ignored your Journals, I read them on the day you posted them and they are fun. The new players have also been reading the journals. Replies forthcoming. Speaking of new players! We have 2 people working on new characters who could be ready this week, Hans with Sandoval the mindful but brainless Elf Warrior, and SolidHybrid making a Dwarf Axe For Hire. Welcome newest members! This has several advantages. We can reduce the reliance on henchmen/hirelings (but still keep some NPC's around occasionally for their knowledge and expendability). The new folks seem cool, imaginative and interesting, so they should be fun members of the group and expand our roleplaying interaction. As "normal" demi-humans they will balance our party (that's currently got a bird-man, frog-man, and cat-woman). Now we can get more insider-friendly hints from the Elf tribes, and the Dwarf clans we might encounter later. As both Fighter-types, this will help our survivability and front-lines (up to now the party was basically Mage, Mage, Ninja, plus supporting NPC's). Group size thoughts: My goal all-along from the planning of this campaign is to have 6 PC's in the party, and be flexible to tolerate 1-2 people missing a session when necessary, still having minimum 4 PC's in attendance every session. The current adventure is designed for 6-8 PC's but I never wanted 8 people in this. Imagine 6 PC's and 2-4 NPC's backing you up, now that would be a survivable group for hefty adventuring. We have already had a lot of fun starting with 3 PC's. I like it with 3, and the Players do too, because each Player gets spotlighted. When there are more PC's, each person gets a little less time, as we share the spotlight and pass the mic. I'm very big on everyone participating, no one gets sidelined, ignored, or left out. As DM I will do my best effort to call on every Player, frequently and with regularity, and to protect your time-slot to speak. Everyone should get that feeling of being involved and participate, change the game, express your actions, convey your PC's personality. When 1 person is talking, everyone else will listen. Think of a "talking feather" that gets passed around the room, whoever has the feather is the person who "has the floor" and does the talking for a minute until they are finished expressing what they want. Let us proceed efficiently and dive into the game together. The 3 original PC's will take the lead, and get slightly longer actions and talking times, because they know the current plot of the adventure, they have connections in the world, and they are the party leaders so far. The 2 new players will be gradually integrated in the RP and given time to describe their characters to the group. I'm still recruiting and interviewing Players for the 6th slot. DM Note: I've had a sore throat the last few days, recovering presently. If my voice is still hurting tomorrow at game time, I will need to talk quietly and talk less, I'll do a bit more typing and shift the mic to the Players for longer periods. I'll probably be fine and acting normal, just eating cough drops like a Fighter eats healing potions. RSVP Regrets Only: Post here in advance if anyone thinks they can't attend Tuesday this week. Expecting Gray , Chris , Battalia , Hans , and SolidHybrid , tomorrow at the time listed on the Campaign Details homepage.
Again, welcome to the new players~
Yes, welcome to you both ... Looking forward to gaming with you ...
