I'm currently in the early brainstorming phase of a D&D 5e campaign I want to run set on an a island continent populated by humanoids but also by a large variety of dinosaurs. I haven't yet begun to actually design the setting yet but I wanted run some of my thoughts by this forum and see if this would be a campaign that people would want to play in. This is what I've thought of so far. The island continent would be about the size of Australia or a little bit bigger. The island would be separated from the rest of the world by thousands of miles of ocean as well as being surrounded on all sides by mountain peaks as high as the Himalayas. It will be obvious to everyone that lives there, and likely there will be stories passed down from ancient times, that the continent and the mountains surrounding it were created by either powerful ancient magics or long dead gods. The climate of the entire island is unnaturally hot and wet, as rain clouds constantly come down from the mountains as a regular pace. It's also obvious that the weather patterns themselves are also caused by magic that even the most powerful wizards have been unable to pinpoint the source. Given the climate of the continent, it is no surprise it's covered completely by tropical rain forests which contain a huge variety of life. The most prominent of which are the dinosaurs of which there are hundreds of species if not thousands. Along with the dinosaurs, various factions of humans have started to build primitive civilizations. Along with the humans are small amount of half elves, most of which are assimilated into the human communities. There are no pure elves or halflings on the continent. There lives very small populations of dwarves and gnomes in the mountains caves surrounding the continent. As far as factions go... I'm looking at a dominant human empire that uses magically controlled dinosaurs in it's wars of conquest. They will likely be the main villain of the setting. I'm also looking at a faction of half-elven (and some human) matriarchal amazons. Also a faction of raiders similar to mongols except they ride specially trained dinosaurs in battle. I'm also thinking about a cult that worships dinosaur gods and uses dark magics to create zombie dinosaurs and rumors of sentient dinosaurs as well. Right now I'm only in the brainstorming phase, so I'd like to know if this is a type of campaign that you would be interested in playing in. I could also use some feedback and advice on the worldbuilding, so any ideas you might have would be welcome!
