Gauging interest for a Digimon Based, Mutants and Masterminds game, date/time undetermined

So I had this idea the other day. I personally used to love Digimon and would love to RP in the digital world. That said I am thinking of running a game on roll20 for it. I have some rules I think I have settled on: 1) People in the game will have to make several characters: their human trainer (PL1 or 2), their base child digimon (PL 4), and their digivolutions 2) Probably not going to allow homebrew digimon this time around, sorry, feel free to offer up any digimon you want to use however, I will give the final say on it for sure 3) The game is probably going to take place in season 2 or tamers era (haven't decided), also I haven't seen the new season yet so I can't comment on it 4) There might be times for mega digivolving, DNA digivolving and even fusion if the game goes long enough 5) The game will be run using MnM 3e, I think it translates pretty well into what I have in mind 6) There are a couple house rules for some of the powers, advantages, and rules for MnM I have in mind for the game, but we can discuss those later Otherwise feel free to comment with interest. I haven't decided the day but it will probably be on the weekends or late weekdays. Also feel free to PM me with questions.

Hopefully you decide on Tamers. If it's season 2 does that mean only digimon introduced before then are allowed? I had hoped to use a character with Impmon as their partner. Only less angst. I've never played MnM but I'm eager to learn. :D I've had experience with pathfinder if that means anything.

oh? a digimon game? i am up to it but i will need the date and time because they are the dealbreakers. Btw soo going Andromon.

I am like 99% sure it's going to be tamers era (my favorite). No matter what you can use digimon from any era. Time is looking like Friday nights or weekends (EST). I want to hear times from you guys and we can decide on something. I think it's going to be an alternate reality after the digiworld reset from the D Reaper attack.

Hm, Fridays and weekends might not be so good for me. I have my Pathfinder games then. I'm PST and work during the week so any time after 6 PM works for me.

Hmmm how does Monday nights work for people? Btw both those guys seem fine, just remember that it will probably be a new Impmon and not the one from the series (or if it is the same one the D Reaper reset has caused him to lose all conciousness of his former self)

Nope,i am ok from tuesday to thursday night (monday night i play iron kingdoms and friday night is megaman homebrew game)

Tuesday works for me! I think Wednesday I'll be having another game set up, but it's not set in stone yet. And yeah, it's not the same Impmon. Just AN Impmon.

Tuesday is the only night I cannot do it. Maybe we can consider Thurs as an alternative. I am going to have the game ad set up soon, as I was hoping for at least 3 players for the start of the game. I will definetely have it set up by next week when I get back to an area with a stable internet connection.

oh? on a business trip? Anywho...ermmm...which edition we will be using and can we use any digimon gimmick from entire series? by gimmick i mean....cross fusions,transformations and such. Weird idea....can we gather digimon dna data?

Basically your digimon has a wide choice of evolutions BUT its is important to choose the right starter digimon(and we will need to adjust the input on each form it evolves to).

Yea so here is how it is going to work out initially (it might change). You need to have 3 things at this point. 1) A PL 2 digimon trainer 2) A PL 6 rookie digimon 3) An idea of what Champion/Ultimate/Mega forms you want (since this is based off the tv show pick ONE form from the tree and go with it) As far as specialty evolutions (DNA digivolving, fusions, transformations, etc.) go, that might come later, but currently as it is, there will be only rookie to champion (since there isn't going to be PP rewards like a traditional 3e game)

Hmmm well i see why we can only pick one and roll with it but there should be a system to unlock other champion forms on the tree and so on.....oh poop i just though "well dood what would be if it is dark heresy system?"......and then my brain went "fuck no,that is our last resort,be happy that nobody figures simple applications on rank advancement"....and then he wanted to see funny cat videos.....anywho i did snoop around 3e but i still didnt figure it out what PL means (i read PL as player).

PL I'm guessing is Player Level? It's the only thing I can think of and it makes sense the Digimon is stronger than the normal human who trains it.

PL is power level. Since you guys aren't familiar with mutants and masterminds 3e system you can check out the d20hero srd online at <a href="http://www.d20herosrd.com" rel="nofollow">http://www.d20herosrd.com</a> and find out the basic rules. I will be modifying them some for the game. And don't worry too much about character creation in terms of game rules, just work on basic backgrounds now. I will be working with you guys on the first session to begin making the characters you envision. Also Frosty, this game will be more like the show where they only had one champion form, one ultimate form, etc. But don't worry, as the game progresses you will get access to cool things like fusion, DNA digivolving, and such.

Hm....seems pretty close to Pathfinder....I think I can make this work. We just need to think of the day to meet up. I'm currently playing a PF game that takes up multiple days but I'll ask about taking one of the days off to join you all.

I would like to add my interest, with the intention of using Guilmon. I have a few others in mind if that doesn't jive, but I -really- want to play with Growlmon / Gallantmon. Do you have any issues with someone that isn't familiar with the game system? I've been roleplaying for several years, but tabletops are still new to me. I have some pathfinder experience and a little bit more DnD 4E.

I have used the system a little but i would not call myself experienced, as for Digimon i would love to use Wizardmon, though i probably would need to start as Candlemon, i also have a friend who would like to join as well! :)

Btw i will use Terriermon because its evolution tree covers huge range of favored evolutions.

This game is probably more free form then most other games you will find on roll20, it even allows players to edit the scene as needed. You can run Guilmon, just warning you now, running the digimon of one of the past tamers MAY have some concequences. Plus it might be a while before you get Gallantmon. Also my friend, you only get one digivolved form currently, and you may not be able to get a different one for a long time if at all. So I would pick 1 digimon with 1 champion form you are content with first, then worry about what other forms it has later.

Well DUHHH! Ya said that before about having only one form per evolution and to be patient about unlocking others. Btw why would we get penalties of using a digimon same of last tamers? There are villages made up of one specie entirely as shown in the shows and you said you dont want homebrew digimon.

The fact that there are terriermon in the world isn't much of a problem to the evil forces at work. The fact that a terriermon shows up with a human as it's digimon trainer, that might cause some unwanted attention (even if they aren't the same digimon from before). Currently 3 digimon (and a couple others) hold extreme reverence/hatred in the digital world: Guilmon Terriermon Renamon For their role in the destruction of the D Reaper and subsequent collapse of the digital world.

XD ya just don't wanna cannon digimon and WTH, D-Reaper's only purpose was to purge the Digital World once the number of lifeforms within it surpasses a certain number and if you watched the series,ya know it is really reallllllllly BAD. Should i really post and link of what happened after its destruction?(growed up watching pokemons,digimons and cartoon network 90-is so just stop playin at the card that i am "maybe" a noob at digimon lore)

I do not need you to post what happened after it's destruction, that is the whole point of my campaign. I am running an alternative timeline of my take on what happened after the series in leiu of the "technically non canon" movies (since the creater of the show did not actually approve of them). I also never stated you were "maybe a noob", I am literally just divulging the information about what is going to happen in my campaign.

If it's any consolation, Impmon and I have no qualms against the three since another Impmon decided Leomon needed a good "rekting" because of his inferiority complex, which kinda triggered the whole D-Reaper thing. :x I'm building the characters as being semi experienced, sort of like Renamon and her tamer. But without the cannibalizing digidata and being a hard ass. My Impmon would still be snarky and quick to a sarcastic quip but a lot easier-going and less prone to prank people. Is that alright?

Yea but should we do char creation before the play or?

I don't think anyone here besides OP has had experienced with MnM so I think we should do the creation during the game.
