Hi folks, so this is something of an older game system that has fallen by the wayside over the years. Published by Arcdream (and Hobgoblin before that) However with Summer fast approaching I'd like to see if I could run a campaign over the summer. Specifically I'd like to run the official campaign The Black Devil's Brigade. This features a joint America/Canadian military invasion of Italy. The Basic concept behind Godlike is a mixture between Saving Private Ryan meets Captain America. You play as Allied soldiers during WWII in the military service trying to make it through your tour of duty. The catch is, this is a world where a certain few of you have acquired super powers due to the traumas of warfare (as well as the enemy). Super powers also tend to be good at one thing and one thing only. For example you can only be Quicksilver or Ironman. (Both completely viable character concepts as well). You cannot put both into one Superman style, there just aren't enough points. The combat works on a one roll system of trying to match d10's where it tells you how successful you were, how quickly it was done, and where with one roll of your dice pool. The deadly combat emphasizes the idea that even though you have super powers it doesn't really matter in the long run because the war industry is much bigger than that. You can run like the flash but still be killed by artillery, you have super strength and size like the Hulk but Panzers will kill you dead. etc. Superpowers are run through sheer force of will and morale. Having a poor morale means your powers might actually fizzle out and vice versa. Combat between different super powered people is half using their powers against each other and half fighting each other mentally through a psychic contest of wills. The game itself is incredibly flexible and encourages making up your own super powers with a ruleset that can more or less encompass any super power you want outside of Cosmic or Quantum levels. So I'd like to gauge and see what the interest levels are out there. There would be player applications with a character concept we could mesh out more if I like the idea. Although the game strives for realism I would be willing to bend it a little and allow things like mixed race companies (unlike the racial segregation of armed force of our reality), and mixed genders. I'm also currently toying with the idea that if you die in the campaign, you'd have to resubmit a new character concept (You wouldn't be kicked out of the campaign though). To represent new reinforcements coming in and a sense of permanent stakes since it is quite easy to die if you're not careful. I should also note it's possible to power game to the extreme in this game but still get killed due to poor situations. If you're a power gamer or you get frustrated easily with player death please do not apply. The last time I ran this game a player threw a fit due to his character being killed by an enemy talent despite breaking the system through his power gaming. It more or less killed the game dead and I would not recommend it to people who feel that they have to have their character survive everything. Sometimes war isn't fair. -------- So right now if you're interested I'd like to know 3 things. 1: What time would work best for you? 2: Any prior experience with (ORE) or Godlike in general? (Mention Books if you have them)/ General RPG experience 3: Character concept (This is just for fun to get you thinking, no need to stick with it).
