Also known as the River Province, the mid-east of Creation is notable by the civilization that formed around the Yanaze River. The Confederacy of Rivers is a trade organization involving the cities of Lookshy , Sijan , Great Forks , and Nexus , formed as a means of protecting the East against Realm incursions. With the sheer manpower behind Lookshy, and it's fortified position at the mouth on the Yanaze, the Dragonblooded of Lookshy have held the East free from the Realm's control. Further south is Thorns , former Realm satrap, turned into home to the Deathlord, the Mask of Winters . To the west, edging on the forests of the Halta and against Linowan raid is the Hundred Kingdoms , a set of principalities. Lookshy is a city of Dragonblooded who do not serve the Realm, but rather were established in age before the Realm. They are the last remnants of the Seventh Legion of the Shogunate Era, established during the Great Contagion on the ruined plaguecity of Deheleshen. It has since grown to become it's own city-state, on the mouth of Yanaze River. The breakwaters of Lookshy, and it's great steel chains allow or deny all trade into Yanaze, and without the Seventh Legion, could starve the River Province of all trade. Lookshy is a city of harsh restrictions; visitors are treated lower than the serf caste, and are not allowed out of the Lower City. Lookshy also possesses a vault of dangerous First Age weapons; artifacts that could save Lookshy if it were threatened with great danger. Lookshy is the foremost defense of the River Province, and has always been established as such. Nexus , found at the junction between the Yellow and Gray Rivers, which feed into the Yanaze, is a a wonder of both the past and modern ages. The city, which is built through the ruins of a First Age civilization is the most advanced city in the Scavenger Lands. It is a city grown fat by merchants, and it's ability to hunt out lore from bygone times. It is a city of industry, born on the backs of cheap labour. It is a city of two faces. The face of industry, where it's inhabitants live amongst soot and ash, and potentially never see the light of day, housed in underground tunnels. And the face of the merchant class, where the wealthy live in hilltop districts, the filth of their business kept at arm's length. Nexus, however, is the center of trade and commerce in the Scavenger Lands. There is no rule in Nexus, save that of the Council of Entities and the masked Emissary, who have no true law. Only edicts. Merchants truly rule Nexus. Not with soldiers, but with thugs and blades in the night. Sijan Great Forks Thorns Hundred Kingdoms
