LFG Pathfinder Jade Regent Campaign. EST ( reserves needed, main slots filled)

After trying fruitlessly to join a game over the past month, I decided to take matters into my own hands and run a game despite still largely unfamiliar with the RollD20 system. Time: Honestly, I am pretty darn adaptable to times. I PREFER to play earlier in the day on weekdays, and later at night pretty much all week, but for the most part I am willing to try and adapt to what is best with the players. Timezone: I am on EST, so it is easiest to match up schedules if you are EST or close to it. Campaign: I will be running a prebuilt Pathfinder Adventure Path, Jade Regent. I try my best to add to the campaign and expand on the personality of the characters. In short the campaign focuses on being a part of a trade caravan. One could even go as far as to say it is the Pathfinder version of Oregon Trail! Character Gen Tips: 1st level. I would appreciate if people took one of their traits as a campaign trait. <a href="http://www.d20pfsrd.com/traits/campaign-traits/jade-regent-traits" rel="nofollow">http://www.d20pfsrd.com/traits/campaign-traits/jade-regent-traits</a> This is not a requirement, only recommended for the purposes of roleplay and background building. I also highly recommend downloading and reading the FREE Player Handbook for jade Regent from Paizo's site. <a href="http://paizo.com/store/games/roleplayingGames/p/pathfinderRPG/paizo/pathfinderAdventurePath/jadeRegent/v5748btpy8mh3" rel="nofollow">http://paizo.com/store/games/roleplayingGames/p/pathfinderRPG/paizo/pathfinderAdventurePath/jadeRegent/v5748btpy8mh3</a> As for stats, You can roll them out. I always did prefer the randomness of it. Just be warned that I do try to scale things if several players get too lucky with their rolls :P I would like around six players, I already got 2 people on board. I also will be honest and say I will not be working solely under the first come first serve rule. If the first person presents to me a subpar character design in my opinion, then I will be more likely to hold onto it to see what else is presented to me first. I like players being enthusiastic about this, if I fear you will be likely to drop out, then you are less likely to get on board. Just make sure to send me character sheets or something similar Main List: 6/6 Tori Ian Tekki Zach Dylan Andrew Reserves 1/4 Liam Currently Gameplay will be occuring on Fridays most likely around 7-8 pm EST Also, make sure to download mumble if I accept you. We will be using a mumble server for the roleplaying, and I will PM the server info to those accepted. I think that is all the information, I will add more here should I remember things I forgot... Races are open to the advanced race guide, but be warned that the more outlandish you are, the more I expect in return for dedication to roleplaying the character. A good way to convince me is background, talking about personality and quirks and other such things. Heck make a sample story of him interracting if you want! Whatever you feel will best convince me. The same thing applies to the 'exotic' classes, these are Ninja, Samurai, and Gunslinger and any gun using class archetype.
Hi, I'd like to play. I'm able to play late night every night but Friday. My charcter would be a Dhampir Cruoroancer (Wizard) with "Dayborn" and "Vampiric Empathy", just so you know. Send me a message if I can join. I am in England.
Heya! I'm the bard up there, and also the guy providing the Mumble server. Little bit of info on it: It's got 8 slots, so we'll all fit and have room for 1 more person if we need it for whatever reason. It also only has 1 room at the moment, but I can add more if we need to. I and the Rogue player are available at these times: Sunday - Thursday: 8:00PM - 1:00AM Friday - Saturday: 8:00PM - 3:00AM Saturday Preferred All those are EST. I'll also be writing up in-character journals on our sessions and posting them at <a href="http://dndcharacterjournals.tumblr.com" rel="nofollow">http://dndcharacterjournals.tumblr.com</a> Like I said, these are in-character, so anything my Bard doesn't see or know about won't be described in these journals. If anyone who participates would rather I didn't post these for some reason, then I won't, but you have to tell me that, because I'm not psychic. Last but not least, for our European Brethren, EST is GMT -5:00, so plan accordingly. Thanks! ~Ian
I'm interested, I'm reading through the Jade Regent book now.
Ok, looking at it, I think I'll be able to play on the Saturday 8pm ->3am game as I'm awake that time.
Something I forgot to clarify, I would like to see character sheets, or something similar, before I can decide to accept you.
Those times I posted are just times the Rogue player and I are available, btw. Not definite game times or anything. EDIT: Here's my character sheet if you want an example. <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=430514" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=430514</a>
Right, my character sheet is below now.
I have a couple of questions, how long do you expect this campaign to run in terms of levels and time? If schedules abide, are two sessions a week possible?
I might be able to do two sessions a week just not Friday nights or Saturday Mornings (for me).
I could do two a week, but I don't think our party Rogue could. She has classes :P (She's a friend of mine IRL, by the way, so if you're wondering why I know this, there ya' go.)
I am interested. I will work out a character sheet, and post it later today or tomorrow. In terms of time Mon-Thurs 9pm-2am CST, Fri/Sat 8pm-3am CST. Saturday would be fine with me. In terms of character, I might want to use the campaign trait Caravan Guard, and be some sort of warrior.
If enough people are up for it and I feel I have the time too, then I can do two sessions a week, but at this point I would not know for sure till I got a solid idea on who my players are and how much time I am spending for session prep. I personally would LOVE to run through the entire Path, this will take upwards around level 16-18. I BELEIVE six months is the average for a full adventure path. However schedules can change by that time that makes it impossible to continue. In short I am going to keep this alive as long as I can till the end is reached. My long term goal is that depending on the confidence I get from using the roll20 system, I want to run Kingmaker after this. Kingmaker is my personal favorite, if I were to describe it in just one short phrase, Kingmaker is Oblivion/Skyrim meets the British colonization of America. It was designed to be a sandbox campaign that lasts six books of content, with the players exploring untamed wilds and settling/colonizing the land on top of running the colony they establish, and is extremely easy for the GM to turn the campaign into something that plays differently for every group. So you can see why I did not start with Kingmaker immediately, it is not a easy thing to get into if you are not confident in GMing. Especially when GMing online for the first time like this. If you guys want to return with me when this is over for Kingmaker then be my guest, but that is my personal goal and has little impact on this campaign.
I'm rolling up a summoner, I'll have a sheet for you by the end of the night. Also as far as times go, I can't do tuesdays or most mornings. I'm also on EST. Edit: By morning I mean pre-noon. After 2pm is best for me, but I can go on as early as 3 or 4am in the evening.
So far as times go it seems late night, especialy saturday seems to be the most liekly, but I will hold off on promises for now
My Character sheet is in the following link: <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=434860" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=434860</a> He is a Dhampir Cruoromancer (Wizard), and I roll-stated him. As I have stated previously, I can currently do any time other than Friday night-Saturday Morning.
Liam, your character sheet is set to private.
Liam your character sheet is set to private :P Make it public or we can't see it. EDIT: And of course I forget to click refresh before posting, and post to see that Zach beat me to it xD
I've set it to public
I'd love to play if there's still a spot open, but my weekends are generally booked so I could only make it if you go with a weekday. On the plus side though I don't have any recurring weekday evening commitments so I'm very flexible, anything after 7pm CDT would work. Looks like the party's a little light on healing, so I'd probably go with either a Druid or Witch.
I'd be interested in playing too--this would be the first time I've played Pathfinder, though I have some experience with 3.0/3.5. My times are somewhat flexible, though I prefer a time on friday or saturday night. I work early mornings so weekdays can't go too late for me. I'm on mountain time, so the EST people are a good 2 hours ahead of me.
I will let my friends know about this. Id like to join as an inquisitor, but i will only be playing if my buds are too
Liam, How new are you to pathfinder? Not trying to sound mean here but just to let you know, all characters get 2 Traits. You can never choose them both out of the same category though. Now I looked over your sheet and something irks me, not sure why you did this, maybe you did it by mistake or maybe you have some build plan. You do realize that Wizards use Int as spellcasting and not Cha, right? with your current Stat allocation your Wizard will only be able to learn 2nd level spells. Also consider being Chaotic Good and the class archetype. It can be hard to remain good with this if you make use of all the necromantic options it comes with like the undead creation, which are Evil spells. Please note casting an evil spell does not equal instant alignment change but it still counts as an evil act. If this is somehow part of your roleplaying that he is purposefully trying to control some evil power and temptaions he has, then that is cool. and all the more reason to use a class tailor suited for evil characters Finally, where are you from? I could almost swear you mentioned Europe or something before. EST = Eastern Standard Time, or the East coast of North America. If you are in Eurpope then this could be a problem for you. It is still possible to play with us at the same time as us, but you are giving times and I have no idea if your times are the same times everyone else is mentioning once you consider time zones.
Also you need BAB+1 for the caravan guard trait.
Zach, I honestly forgot to even check the requirements of what he has taken, thank you for catching that.
Here's the basis of my character sheet, I don't have any sort of story or anything written for him because I dont want to get too far in-depth with it and not make it into the group. Due to the trait I took (Foster Child) my character has strong ties with Koya and Sandru. I also haven't made a character sheet for my eidolon yet, but that wont take long at all. <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=434882" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=434882</a> Also, as far as stats go, I absolutely hate rolling for them so I just calculated the equivalent point-buy of everyone else's character sheet I've seen and averaged it. ((It's really high, like 31))
Not to pile on the corrections, but cruoromancers don't get familiars. They replace the Arcane Bond class feature with the archetype's Blood Infusion
I was actually coming back to post just that Tori after noticing it. I will be honest Liam, that's was too many issues, if you want a crazy race AND class, you got to prove you can handle it. Not having made sure things were all ironed out mechanically does not convince me. My opinion is tone it down to a normal wizard. You don't seem to got a good grasp on pathfinder so go basic for now. Rethink your character, feel the personality and be enthusiastic about him/her. And while I don't want to give your hopes up, don't forget I still want clarification on what your timezone is, that is something that has me worried. I mean I don't want to be accepting you only to find out you will never be able to play.
Zach, so far I am intrigued by what I am seeing. A summoner with a heavy duty melee weapon like a glaive? and a rather high strength too. I know Summoners are usually expected to hold their own alongside their Eidolon, similar to a Druid, but not often I see one focus on melee as heavily as you did. Heck you even took the feat in order to take a glaive. Got any backstories? personalties? I am actually curious about why you designed the summoner this way.
Well in the Jade Regent book where it says that Koya provides the best schooling she can for her foster child, I took the liberty to assume that meant martial training as well since one should be able to protect themselves in this day and age. Also, from what I've gathered, this campaign is going to take place surrounding a caravan, and Koya my characters foster mother and Sandru his foster brother do a lot of travelling by caravan it would only be natural for my character to pick up a good weapon to defend the caravan with. It's probably not an "optimal" summoner build but if I wanted a cookie cutter build I'd google a guide for one. As far as personalities and stuff go, Roade is a go-getter, intuitive, and maybe a little bit reckless. I imagine him to have a brotherly rivalry with Sandru, trying to one-up or surpass him in order to impress him which may lead to getting in over his head. Out of character-wise I have years of roleplaying experience in play by post and text media (IRC, forums, etc) but I've never done voice roleplay, the in-person groups I played with thought it was awkward and didn't get into it. Also on a personal note, I tend to spell my name Zac, I was lazy in kindergarten and didn't like writing a fourth letter for the same sound as three, haha.
Get that Eidolon sheet up, there is a decent chase I want to accept you as a player. You did some good research on the NPCs, especially when I will be my own effort into bringing them to life beyond what scripts the books give. But the best part is your cookie cutter remark, it made me smile.
Alright here's my eidolon's character sheet. Just your basic quadruped direwolf/panther hybrid. <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=435029" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=435029</a>
Here's my character. He is the basic Half-Orc Fighter, and I took the Caravan Guard Trait because that's how Grozni proves his worth to himself, by protecting others and upholding his personal code of honor. I chose Lawful Neutral instead of Lawful Good because while Grozni wants to do the right thing, his number one rule is protect himself above all. Anyways, here is the character sheet. <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=434940" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=434940</a>
It's getting late so I'm not going to get my sheet finished until tomorrow, but I think I'm going to take the Younger Sibling trait with Ameiko. The write-up for her mentions that her parents and older siblings are all dead, does that mean the stuff with her father and half-brother from Rise of the Runelords is canon for this game?
It's also late here so I'm going to call it quits until tomorrow. Here's what I've put together so far: <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=434962" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=434962</a> I'll post again when I've updated it.
Right, I'm going to change some of my character, I want him to use Necromancy and be good as a Role-Playing thing. I've updated my sheet, link's the same but I'll put it here to make sure: <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=434860" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=434860</a> The only reason it wasn't fully ironed out was that I was much more tired than usual, Please tell me if anything's wrong, but the traits should be correct. Sorry for not updating, I had gone to sleep much earlier than I normally do. I live in England, but I'm normally awake at nights rather than days so it should be fine.
I didnt look too closely Liam as I am about to leave and was just checking this thread, but at first glance it appears you just need to redo your skills, you only have three points placed and your class skills aren't marked.
He also still suffers from way too much charisma and too little intelligence, plus the whole "Chaotic Good" plus necromancy problem.
I think the CG + Necromancy is a Role Play choice. Constantly having to fight off the urges to do evil acts, while sometimes falling to temptation can make for quite a good character, personality wise. But yeah, you may want to switch your CHA and INT scores. You'll need at least 19 INT eventually to cast all the spells available to a Wizard. As it is, you can only cast up to level 5 spells. And besides, I'm a bard. Purely from a stat standpoint, you won't need Charisma. I'll have us covered in that department. Another thing of note is that your stats are all REALLY high. If you just got lucky, that's cool, but keep in mind that David may ask you to reroll them for balance. OH! One more thing, that I'm editing in. You'll have to provide a very good reason for your character to have been a Dhampir. They are usually VERY disliked due to their half-undead nature, so while you leaving with a caravan makes sense, why you're there in the first place might not. Personally, I'd take the wandering traveler approach. You happen to be there as part of your travels. Alternatively, you played a part in the Rise of the Runelords bit, in which case you'd A) be trusted more, and B) need to get in touch with me, because I think my friend and I are going to do that to explain our presence in Sandpoint. EDIT to avoid double post. So far the classes that have posted Character Sheets or been confirmed early are: Bard (Me) Rogue (My Friend) Wizard (Specialized, Liam) Sorceror (Andrew) Summoner (Zac) Fighter (Dylan) We also have the four major NPCs that will be in and out of the party sorta. Their classes are: Rogue (Sandru) Ranger (Shalelu) Cleric (Koya) Bard (Ameiko)
I think his intelligence is fine where it's at, if he takes his ability-ups in INT at 4 and 8 and getting an intelligence item along the road will give him enough to cast all his spells if he's content with them having a lower DC. In regards to his stats being high: Liam if you set your wisdom down to 10 from 16 you'll be "good."
I could see a good roleplay point in him being a wizard who's only sort of cut out to be a wizard :P EDIT: I've updated my previous post, so as to keep all the important stuff in one, easy to find place.
Minor note for Dylan: You forgot to add your con modifier to your HP :P So it should be 12, instead of 10.
Thanks! Is there anything else I did wrong? I've only done a couple Pathfinder characters.
Thanks! Is there anything else I did wrong? I've only done a couple Pathfinder characters. Not that I can see! I've done the con thing a bunch, myself xD Ezzran is actually my first PF character, but the rules for modifiers are the same as 3.5e :P
I don't have time to read over all the sign ups right now, but I am going to get some quick words in. Ian, I will say this, he can go ahead with dhampir if he really wishes. Right now it is not impressing me, but I am still interested to see how he handles roleplaying being an outcast and hated by NPCs at first glance in the game should I accept. Tori, those issues you ask about are addressed in the beginning of the Path for GM's eyes. Events in Rise of the Runelords is assumed to be for the most part, inconsequential towards this adventure path should it be a 'fresh start' in other words, the GM has not run Rise of the Runelords with the group before. And it is assumed the players won't be familiar with RotR either, but you seem to have either run in RotR before or you are very familiar with it. Because this is a 'fresh start', events you know to 'should' have happened according to RotR, are the canonical events for the purpose of starting Jade Regent. I tried to answer your question with as few spoilers as possible, so if this does not satisfy you, let me know and I will send you a PM with GM notes listed at the very beginning of this book regarding how to deal with any of those changes in the fates of some of the characters. Everyone else, I will read your sheets when I return, so far only Ian and his friend are confirmed to be in this.
Heh, my intention wasn't to say he can't be a dhampir. Just that he'd have to explain stuff in RP, and I gave a few suggestions as to how he could do that. He's free to manage it however he wants, of course :P
Yeah I'm playing Burnt Offerings, the first chapter of the RotR adventure path. As far as I know we've taken care of everything involving the Kaijitsu family. The exact details of what happened aren't particularly important, mostly I was trying to puzzle out Cho's personality and relationships based on what I know of the family from Runelords. If it overly complicates things I'm fine with swapping to another trait. <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=435060" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=435060</a> Here's what I've got so far. If anyone spots any errors feel free to point them out, I did a lot of this last night while I was drowsy. I'll get the rest of her equipment down and write out a fuller history if I get accepted, but if any of the fluff is confusing out of context let me know and I'll elaborate.
I'm very into the RP aspect of the game. The feats should be fine, I've re-checked the class skills (they unchecked for some reason), and I've nerfed my WIS to 10. should I get rid of my Trait? It's currently "Friend of the Family" and I think that'd explane why the group I'm with don't attack me. Another reason why people wouldn't attack me is the fact Grigori's clothes cover most of his body from the sun, wearing a large hat aswell tokeep the sun out of his face.
All done! <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=434962" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=434962</a> I fleshed out the character a bit and added a brief backstory summary at the bottom.
Aww, what a good portrait for Cho! I can never find good art for my characters.
Aww, what a good portrait for Cho! I can never find good art for my characters. Hahaha that's what I thought too. Is there like a secret character portrait website?
