Announcements relevant to July 21 Notice: Game on tomorrow / Tuesday, usual times expected. There are some possible conflicts this week, I want Players to be aware. PREFACE: If anything happens (this week or any week) please stick with me and we will communicate and resume as soon as possible. If you ever see a Game Day where you expect me and I don't show up (this has Never happened before), please initially assume that I've had a sudden work or family obligation come up. I would always inform you first if at-all-possible. In this very thread. If I ever suddenly missed session without informing you in advance, give it a couple days and then expect me to check in. After a couple days, email/skype me at that point, if I ever become that much overdue for a campaign check-in. Heads Up #1, personal. There has been a personal family priority in my life, happening this week & may persist for several weeks or months going forward. Family member in hospital. I'm someone who prefers to maintain family privacy and not write my personal happenings here on the game forum, but enough to let you know something is up. It is possible to take me away from Roll20, if I am needed to help with personal/family in my local life. And I know 100% that everyone in the group is understanding towards this. That's probably all I want to say about that. And I may delete those paragraphs later, just to keep our game-board on-topic and remove a lingering reminder of a difficult time. I don't enjoy interjecting the hard times of real life into our fantasy campaign place. Please do this: The best way the group can support me is to stay & keep playing the game, maintain a positive atmosphere, and develop our epic fantasy saga. It's a boon to my attitude and a relief to my mind. Your mid-week postings are welcome points of light for me to check-in when I'm able. A limited Player response like "We are thinking about you and yours" is ok and would be welcomed because I know you all care about me. Something like that would not be too personal or invasive. "Understood and good to go" is also a welcomed tone. Beyond that kind of small statement, Please Don't bring this up in the session or ask me for any details about what's going-on outside the game unless I raise the topic and choose to divulge, especially on game-day or in the forums. The best thing our Roll20 D&D campaign can offer me is a welcome break and relief from daily pressures, a trip to our fantasy world to relax and play a game, and have fun with my online friends. Not to think about RL for a couple hours each week. We've made friends with each other, so I feel that you want to express supporting me, just remember that the best support for me you all can offer is continue creating good-times in-game-world with your words, ideas, art, journals, characters. Heads Up #2, website downtime before our game time this week. Conflict 2 is Roll20 major-upgrading on Tuesday July 21, upgrade cycle codenamed: "Interface Initiative", it will change the visual appearance & colors of the website. Roll20 is scheduled to be offline for redesign upgrades on Tuesday morning, July 21, our exact game day. The timing of the upgrade is scheduled to last 2 hours, scheduled to be completed and end 3 hours before our game's regular Start Time. They gave us a 3-hour buffer. Consequently, 2 things: Best case, log in to Roll20 within 1 hour before game time, and you will see a new Roll20 Webpage Design, everything working. Worst case, if Roll20 is late or buggy with the upgrade, perhaps Roll20 could be offline at our game time. In the worst event, if Roll20 is offline, please keep re-loading Roll20 every 15 minutes until it comes back. Something to keep in mind. I think we'll get to play tomorrow and all this will blow over soon. Kenku Physician Pic: Enjoy this picture of a historical Kenku that comes up if you search for "Plague Doctor" on Google Images. Maybe Gray or Larry can research and find out why Plague Doctors wore a Kenku mask (?).
