Rogue Trader - FULL - Tuesday 7-11pm EST

UPDATE: Currently full party, thanks for interest. "Following the deaths of several senior crew of the illustrious Rogue Trader ship Harbinger of His Glory, the Lord-Captain Sarvus Khan is looking to promote two officers from within the ranks." 1-2 players are welcome to join a fledgling Rogue Trader game, now several sessions underway. You will start at equivalent experience to the existing 5 PCs (approximately 1500 gained so far): Sarvus Khan - The ships megalomaniacal Rogue Trader (once a vaunted Navy captain) Jayne Octavia - Well-intentioned but unruly First Officer/Arch-Militant Magos Explorator Haervia - The crew's ranking agent of the Adeptus Mechanicus who harbors a complex and troubled past Byron Thurn - A loyal, almost obsessively protective follower of Sarvus, and one of the ship's Astropaths Steven Ziel - Ex-criminal and Naval Pilot, and now Harbinger's Master of Small Craft Working knowledge of the Rogue Trader system is encouraged but not required. Characters should use the following array for starting stats: 19/18/15/14/11/10/7/6/3. For more information, post here or send me a message.
Sounds like a good time for me! I am up for a Navigator or a missionary...
I'd definitely be up for it. I'm Swedish, though, so it would be at 1 AM for me. Which I'm fine with, since I'm unemployed and so forth, I just thought I'd mention it. Preferably, I'd like to go with an Explorator with a homebrewed Lex-Chirurgeon alternate career rank, simply because the basic Explorator isn't really.. "accommodating" to those of the Magos Biologis, let alone supposed members of The Carnicula (described in The Lathe Worlds). I would style myself "Genetor Aspirant of the Magos Biologis, Arch-Medicae of the Officio Medicae, Voidship Chief Chirurgeon, and Initiate Member of the Carnicula.", aiming towards the Arch-Heretek at Rank 2 and Genetor at Rank 3, all about the study of Beasts, Xenos and Mutants.. and the medical interests of the crew, of course. Bar that, since you might not be interested in a homebrewed Rank 1 Career or another Explorator (even if it would be a far cry from the regular Tech-, I'd really be up for any other career and you could probably throw any of them at me and I'll come up with a concept for a character of that career. Only one I'd like to avoid is Missionary, but primarily because I just have a hard time coming up with interesting concepts for it that doesn't involve Bible-thumping. And while Bible-tumping can be funny, I'm just not feeling up to it, especially since it's easy to go from that to needless drama in a heartbeat. I've got access to all (Rogue Trader, Dark Heresy, Deathwatch, Black Crusade) books by PDF, except the very most recent ones (The Soul Reaver, The Tome of Fate, The Koronus Bestiary). Some questions before my mind starts fiddling too much with things and ideas: 1) How free (if at all) are the origin picks? 2) You say 1500xp gained so far; I assume this means a total xp of 6500 (since you start at 5000)? 3) Any specific rules at all (such as putting the Rogue Trader Core Homeworlds on par with the Into the Storm homeworlds (because face it; Forge World being the worst pick for an Explorator is.. frustrating)? 4) How are you playing this? Skype?
I should also mention that my previous experience with actual roleplaying is infinitesimal, which is of course quite relevant to the equation. So while I have most of the basic rules down, actual, practical experience is basically zero. But I do roll up characters all the time when I'm bored. ^^; Edit: And why, yes, I only just realized that I could edit posts. *cough*
Responses to Vargkungen which are likely relevant to all interested players: 1) I will bend rules for good enough story. So far I've allowed characters 1 "free" line in the origin path, and nobody has needed more than that. 2) Total XP is probably around 7000 by my newest estimate. 3) I have and will continue to create custom Talents, Traits, and equipment to help characters remain relevant and interesting if they seem underwhelming. 4) Roll20 with voice through Mumble so far. +++ADDITIONAL INFO+++ Info from original thread: (<a href="http://community.roll20.net/discussion/1224/last-call-rogue-trader-tuesdays-7pm-est-ust-500/p2" rel="nofollow">http://community.roll20.net/discussion/1224/last-call-rogue-trader-tuesdays-7pm-est-ust-500/p2</a>) Character Creation Rules: For Wounds/Fate Points, everyone can either automatically take a roll of lucky number 7 (converted to D5 for wounds) on both, or roll for both during the first session. This world is know for possessing two confirmed bone parcel of Saint Drusus and a handkerchief which he supposedly used to wipe is hands after a diner. The high Preachers of the planet constantly fight over which cathedral should host the artifact and keep building oven greater ones just to impose their definitive right to display the 3 artifacts at the cost of the ecosystem, this planet is slowly becoming a Creed Hive. Nathaniel comes from a little know chapel at the edge of the sea, of only a few acres in size, this area is slowly turning into a toxic wasteland, failing to acquire enough resources to build a cathedral to host the 3 relics, this chapel instead specialize in creating away mission priest! Those young man and women are trained in the art of sailing space to find/acquire and bring back relics of Saint Drusus! Nathaniel was a promising young men from a poor family, with an unshackle faith while is cloths where always lacking in the new style favored by recent newly build the cathedral hosting the 3 artifacts. He did not care for the style or the others, instead, he owned is skills in purging the rats from the lower catacombs and feeding the needy with the fried corps, the needy always loving the rat-Berger. Upon is training completion, Nathaniel looked forward to embark in one of the Saint Transport to explore one of the allowed planets already scored a billions times overs by other missionary (this planet being the only one their chartists captain having legal access too), when a little trouble happened in the catacombs... he burned the robes of high priest giving "private" lessons to a newly acquired cherubi. He soon found is path changed with a single way travel pass to Port Wander and a very open and vague assignment. Find more relics of Saint Drusus in the Koronus Expense and convert people to is teaching... Nathaniel got of is transport and was pressed gang into the Harbinger of is Glory shortly after. Needless to say this saved is life as he was completely lost anyway inside this huge station, him having rarely left the catacombs of the chapel.
Character background-and-stuff attached to the post, and a primary draft of the character sheet here: <a href="http://www.4shared.com/office/0KZJPqNV/Character_Sheet_Sven_Fex.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.4shared.com/office/0KZJPqNV/Character_Sheet_Sven_Fex.html</a> Before I went willy-nilly with gear and so on, I thought I'd run it by you to make sure that it all looks nice and tidy and alright-y. If there's anything you're unhappy with, just shout at me like only an angry GM can. I have no need for a free vehicle; I'm a Chirurgeon, not a taxidriver! :O Oh, and this is the homebrew Alternate Career Rank I was hoping to take on Rank 1: <a href="http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_foros_discusion.asp?efid=160&efcid=3&efidt=707380" rel="nofollow">http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_foros_discusion.asp?efid=160&efcid=3&efidt=707380</a> I had hoped to flesh it out a bit more before presenting it and asking for it, but it's hard when feedback is non-existent. Which is either a very good thing (nobody sees any fault) or a very bad thing (nobody cares). :| Edit: Updated the background .docx attached to the post.
