I've always been a fan of USO-form ships. In this design, the Ion engine sits on top of the ring. The chem engine is mounted in the very back of the lower oval and the laser battery is belly-mounted. There is a pilot seat, 2 2-person G-resistant benches and a gunner. I know it's cheating a bit on a HS 2, but, there's no cargo space. You can have what you can carry. I figured that would eliminate some size. This is VERY preliminary. Just a quick wireframe of what would be my idea.
