Is it bad too be intimidated to find a game.

Hi, I have been recently looking for games of Shadowrun on Roll20, but I have found myself very intimidated just when olookign for groups and the massive amount of replies the GMs' get to get into their game sometime. So I am wondering if it is normal to feel nervous about trying to get into your first game. I usually worry about screwing up on my first use of program which probably doesnt help. Thank you very much for your replies.

Remember the telemarketing rule of thumb.  There's a roughly 2% success rate. Repeat until.  Failure is part of the process.

LOL @1000d2. At least now there is an easy fix, clear the active chat, eventually itll scroll off the active chat and won't cause a problem.  - Gauss

I'm intimidated because I got almost 30 replies to join my game, I was expecting no more than 3... I feel terrible about turning people away, but I just can't handle that many...

Isn't this a good thing? It means people want to play.

Check out other sites and groups that coordinate stuff.  But keep trying.  And yes it is a little intimidating, but you'll find something eventually.  Also don't be nervous about trying other games too.   I mean come on how many man-eatting dragons can there be out there, right? If you want to get into a game really badly sell yourself. Make your request to join longer than a few sentences, and talk about your experience, and about yourself. Make it clear your looking to be a dedicated player and I garuntee GMs will take you.

It's normal to be nervous and all. And if it wasn't you're at least not alone. Just remember as a GM you are the boss, that means controlling drama and picking who stays and goes. Remember you are not the only game out there, so just because you turn them down, does not mean they don't get to game at all. As for joining someone else's game, the GM there probably already understands this and if you do get in and find it's not quite what you're looking for you can always leave. But please be courteous if you do leave make sure you speak to the GM and  let him know what's going on.

It's just a game- nothing very important really. Why worry about it?
