[LFG] D&D 5E

Experienced player, 10 years from AD&D to 5E. Newfoundland Time Zone UTC -3:30. I enjoy Role Play and Combat equally. I'm vocal and not shy. Can voice chat and/or text chat. I enjoy each type of class from Barbarian to Wizard. Capable of creating short or long backstories if required. Love to have a good laugh but not one to ruin a serious moment as they come up in a story. Extremely patient when playing with new players just learning the system and happy to help figure things out. Looking for a static group in the evenings. Sundays would be a perfect fit but can do any day of the week with only slight rescheduling. I am very easy to get along with and extremely difficult to offend with no intention of being offensive. Games of a mature nature and the use of foul language is not a problem though I may not be inclined to use foul language myself.
I'm checking for interest for a Dark and Gritty type Fantasy with horror elements and a lot of added difficulty. Maybe you could check it out? Here is the link to the topic. I'll be fine with some suggestions to the present houserules, or additional ones ^^

Hey Beaver, the game looks really interesting but the adjustments to the long and short rests seems a bit much to me considering classes like the warlock are ultra dependent on short rests. Hi Peter, I would love to join one of your games but 6:00 pm GMT is 2:30 pm where I am and conflicts with my work schedule whether or not I switch a morning with an evening or vice versa. Thanks for the invites though. I'm very excited to join a game.
The Warlock would be less struck by this than the ones needing long rests, but I am thinking of a few adjustments to loosen it up a bit. But the idea about it is that they will be forced to spend their resources in a clever way, and not just spam it all over the place. It also makes the game more urgent and dangerous, which is what I'm going for. Not every battle should be fought, I guess you could say. But if you're not on board with that, then that's fine. Good luck ^^
Oh, I completely agree. In a horror type scenario the idea of retreat should always be on your mind. If you had the tools to face every obstacle there really wouldn't be anything to be afraid of. But as for the warlock example, you get so very few spells, only one spell at first level. The first time you get cornered and you use that spell to get out of danger you're done for unless you can get 8 hours of rest, which I'm sure will be difficult in this type of horror environment. Then there's the 7 days long rest. What I can't wrap my head around is how you regain abilities over that length of time. A spell a day, maybe? What about Ki points, sorcery points, arcane recovery, channel divinity? What happens if the week is broken up with a raid or an attack? How about activities during that long rest? If the long rest is interrupted do you have to restart? I am in no way trying to criticize because I think what you're going to do will be interesting and fun. It just seems like more management than I'd like to have.
As said, I am in the process of loosening it up a bit, giving them some stuff during shot rests, and if a long rest would be broken up, they'd get for the time they did rest. I wouldn't start at lvl 1, that would be sending mice to fight tigers. But the 8 hour short and 7 hour long rest is alternative rules of the DMG itself, so making it work should be possible. Basically, I just want healing mostly to be a thing you can't just do every so often.
