If you have a question about the game you can post here and I will try to answer it or direct you to the thread that has the answer or update threads if needed etc. Your feedback is appreciated! If you have questions about how to create characters and rules and such in general .. try the New Player Help Desk thread!
Will you be using the trait rules from the Advanced Players Guide/Ultimate Campaign?
So the island is newly found and there's no pre-existing settlements correct?
yes .. 2 traits are allowed and 1 extra trait if you take a negative which is optional. no pre-existing settlements ... not that you are aware of anyhow .. muhahahaha!
great.... now i'm worried
Has anyone decided on race yet?
I've finished my sheet Johnny. What're you thinking of playing?
Elf. Mage, I think
I'm going to be a human barbarian
This is actually my first time building a character so it's a bit intimidating lol, im trying to get as much info as I can, id love to build an Elven Summoner or Wizard haha.. Would anyone mind giving me a hand through this process, I'd really appreciate it, and I promise it'll pay off :)
Do you have a skype account Johnny? I'd be happy to give you a hand and its easier to communicate like that. Otherwise we can communicate in the roll20

I created a New Player Help Desk thread to let players help players make characters and learn the game .. so we can use this thread for more questions directly related to the campaign and logistics of the campaign and campaign feedback . hope that helps organize it better.
Hello, I've read some of the combat rules, and I have a quick question. Is initiave still in the game? Since turn order is determined by who get's to the keyboard will initiave play a different role or is it just not in the game anymore?
Initiative will still be in the game as far as a value but it will not be used in the traditional sense .. If you pick traits or feats that effect initiative they will still have an application .. but if that changes you will be able to retrain .. We are testing a couple ideas with that value currently .. I'll know more this weekend which way I want to go with that.
CP is now KP for less confusion .. if you see CP please let me know so I can replace it with KP
A small question: How many people will make the first travel (taking NPCs into account). Also, do we expect more ships coming in the near future?
Since there are already 4 PCs signed up for it, is it too late to join OH RATS!?

"Level of the main account character will give access to secondary characters and NPCs under that account is determined by KP" Would that replace and work sorta like Leadership when it comes to the lvls of characters? Or will this be something that one can have along with leadership? Unless leadership is just removed. Also would these secondary characters have to work together with your main one? Or can they be totally diffrent, say if i wanted to play a Paladin working in one place and a totally seperat antipaladin in another? EDIT: Any chance you would consider this for the campaign? http://theworldissquare.com/feat-taxes-in-pathfin... I belive this should make it easeier for players to comstumize their characters future down the road as they wont have to use feats on simple stuff that logicly should be simple combat options. EDIT EDIT xD: Will be be getting 1/2, full or roll HP?

The first wave will be the players and few NPCs that I am bringing along (laborers and builders who work for a private undisclosed investor More ships will arrive from time to time with supplies and other players and NPCs. You will not be "alone" forever Eeyore! P. said: Since there are already 4 PCs signed up for it, is it too late to join OH RATS!? Yes .. you can sign up ... in the future missions will have a limit but this one is open to all those who meet the prerequisite by "getting on the boat" by posting in the Iron Kelpie adventure thread Tord S. said: "Level of the main account character will give access to secondary characters and NPCs under that account is determined by KP" Would that replace and work sorta like Leadership when it comes to the lvls of characters? Or can they be totally diffrent, say if i wanted to play a Paladin working in one place and a totally seperat antipaladin in another? Leadership will still be an option for those who want a billion followers and a cohort and such. There are things to do with followers in this system. Obviously leadership is very strong and even stronger in this format so I may be making some adjustments to the feat but I have not decided yet. I do not want to remove it completely. Secondary characters are their own characters. they have their own free will and can choose to work with or even against your other characters. HP QUESTION HP is your hit die at level 1 (d10 means you get 10) the character sheet will add in the con value for you automatically don't forget if you take a favored class bonus HP that level you will get HP at future levels with the formula (hitdie /2 + 1) so a d10 would give 6 HP per level. FEAT TAXES Let me look into this later.
Hello, I have a question about adventure threads. Some adventure thread you can only post in if you are part of a group (none right now) and some everyone can post in (Iron Kelpie). Can we post in more than one adventure thread? So right now that doesn't really work since we are all on one boat. But eventually say there is a general adventure thread and I created an adventure thread for a specific bar, or a specific store. Could I post in both at the same time? In the same vein of thought can you post in an adventure thread while on missions?
yeah .. adventuring happens "sometime" during life on the island. Time might not always sync up 100%
Your talking about days and such during downtime. Will the ratio between time be 1 to 1 on days? Is id highly suggest 1 week RL is at least 2 weeks or 1 month ingame.

you guys are going to be getting much more capital spending limits than normal for downtime so i think buildings should come up quick .. this can be adjusted if necessary .. but it will be 1 to 1 days .. it makes it easier for people to keep track of i think and will make it feel like it is all happening in real time .. things progress too slowly i will definitely consider adjusting the ration to something like 1 week of RL = 1 month of in game. I totally get what you are saying. I'm posting downtime stuff today

Would like to mention that with how downtime works with roll + skill modifierd / 10 means that even with a +20 on a skill and a take 10 you would only earn just above 1k gp in a whole year(Real Life).....Would work about the same as the values of gp or items from buildings are really low to. Ofcourse that would mean you have a steady income, but it would be so low that you could properly defeat some cr 2 creatures and get more then a 1 month worth of skilled labor or building income.... I would suggest making 1 week = 1 month. With missions being scaled in lenght with 5, 10, 15 ........ days lenght and the rest used for downtime activities. So if i were to take a big adventure taking 15 days i would be left with 15 days downtime work i could do during that RL week.
yeah .. its like in rl my job doesn't pay well .. but .. if i thought somebody down the street was evil and attacked them and took their stuff .. that would be a pretty good payday! That being said .. we will be getting NPCs and multiple characters per account .. so you should start to see your money scale with time and investment in the campaign. There might be some tweaking but I feel pretty good that people will start having profitable businesses. It will be interesting to see just how quickly that happens and if playing a completely business side character will be a valid option .. I would love it to be. How would a character level up if they were not adventuring/going on missions? obviously i could offer MP for some kinds of quests

You could work on making achivments that aword MP/KP? Like one time only beat a CR monster +3 above you. Achive 5,10,15 owned rooms/buildings? Assemble a net worth of 1,10,100,1000 k GP And so on.
yeah .. that's what quests are designed to do so .. there would be a quest of collect 10 GP or whatnot .. i just haven't written a lot of quests in yet but yeah .. that's the intent
Could "Maps" be added for Pezzack's Guide Service to the Description section of the Business Charters table on the "1. The World" thread?
A thing to remember Clem: From the Ultimate Campaign book (Pg. 173) : A typical magic shop (see page 110) earns about 3 gp per day, or perhaps 4–5 gp per day if a skilled owner PC directly participates in running the business.
Yeah, there are a numder of buildings that generate gp, which add to what you can earn using craft/profession.
Rooms do generate capital on their own, without needing any input other than the craft cost. They would also generate gold, which has no cost other than time, so building a home might be worth more than you think. Businesses themselves for now have no rules, buy and sell for as much as you want, but crafting costs the same. Since it's week 0 I wondered if we can get some crafting started if we're not participating in missions
If it is something that you can do on a ship .. go ahead. The ship voyage takes as many RL days as we have until Jan 4

Asking in the right thread. Is Stamina from unchained being used and to what extent?
Sorry .. i was looking into it again to see .. I think it seems pretty good as an option to add some flair to a lot of combat tricks. Since we are doing a lot of post role playing having tricks you know you are doing could be good. I think since it is in unchained and if you play unchained fighter then it will be free but you can't take other fighter archetypes if you do since you will be unchained fighter. If a different type fighter wants to take it they will have to take the feat. I think this seems fun and I will allow it. This will be open to other classes only by taking the feat.
cool, that works for me!
Does this mean that other unchained classes can't use archetypes either? Unchained rogue and barbarian could still be compatible with most archetypes with a name change for a couple name changes in the requirements from trap sense to danger sense; the only unchained class that isn't really compatible with older archetypes is the unchained monk.
Actually says on the d20pfsrd when I was making my unchained class in the archetype section "Note: Most of the the core rogue's existing archetypes will also work with the unchained rogue."
I think that since the fighter is not an unchained class, but has an option for stamina later in the book you all are probably fine.
you can use the unchained classes as they are written .. so if it allows archetypes in that class then that is fine .. you just have to be careful with unchained classes because the rules change with them. I was just saying if you create an unchained fighter you would get the feat free but a normal fighter (roughrider) would have to buy it. I'm not trying to change archetype rules or anything .. sorry for the confusion.
I am confused in when and how we track down time. Do I need to post somewhere that Rusty used craft skill X on day Y making Z gp (or other down time commodity)
We talked about downtime and there will be a forum thread for it. But nothing right now, I guess.
I'm working towards getting that set up .. i'm figuring out what is going to work best. I will probably have something today I think.
I have a question about the "Contributing To The General Good" quest. Are we meant to make our craft rolls one per day over the next two weeks in real time, or are we supposed to make the rolls all at once, right now, as most players seem to be doing?
one time for the whole two weeks ... when we play the game once we land, downtime can be done at any time during the week in a one week chunk. any buildings built are "activated" when i put them in town at the weekly update. Items created can be traded to players but are not available for players currently on missions until they return.
So, I just failed the "Contributing To The General Good" quest due to a series of bad rolls. I didn't complete my item within the two weeks. Should I have just taken 10 every time? I would only have made 28 gp of progress then too, so I fail either way. I must be doing something wrong here, can you help me please?
Taking 10s should be normally be used for downtime activities that require several rolls is my opinion. As it will simply make a lot harder to find other stuff in the logs and to double check players do it correctly if the log is filled with a ton of rolls from players.
I think your main issue is you are making a craft with a DC 22 and probably want to start with something a little easier to make. Thats a pretty high DC for level 1 IMO
I was rolling for a DC 15, with a +5 modifier to crafting, to create a 50 gp map. If I were able to make a cheaper map, then I could take 10 and earn 2 gp of progress per day. Unless I'm completely clueless on how crafting works.
