Map Disappearing When I Drop it Onto VTT

Created a map in Photoshop. Made sure layers were flattened and saved as a JPB. Approximate size is 1.7mb. I drop it to the map layer in a new map and it appears then disappears. Drop magnification down to 10% I can see, anything above that it disappears. It does give me the tool to move an object but doesn't show the image. It also gives the edge controls for resizing but again no image. Any ideas what is going on?

Could you send me a join link? Id like to take a look. - Gauss
I am wondering if this might be a pixel issue. I dropped the pixel count and I was able to get some further magnification. I was only able to view at 10% before, now I am able to view up to 40% but at above it still disappears.
Ok I have confirmed that if I drop the pixel count it appears and does not disappear. I have set it to at least 2100x2100. Not sure what the threshold is or why it operates this way, but there you go. There is an upper threshold for pixel count on the VTT.

I haven't had any problems when I drop a jpg map sized at 3000x3900 Correction: one of them is 3900x4000. Map A in the Sentinels board.
Alright then we have a confirmation of pixel count up to 3000x3900. This could probably mean at least a 3900x3900 or 4000x4000. I know a 7100x7100 will also disappear.

What we have determined: On my computer your image shows up fine in Chrome but not Firefox. On your computer your image does not work in either Chrome or Firefox. Please post your support details (except IP address) http://supportdetails.com/ Also, please post the image details such as file type, file size, DPI, dimensions, etc. At what image size does the image work (same image details)? Finally, a link to the campaign details page (not a join link) and the name of the map page so the Devs can take a look at that. - Gauss
My guess is that this is constrained by the amount of video memory on your computer (it has to utilize the entire image as a single texture). Your graphics card probably has to be able to fit the entire image into its memory. So if you split the image up into two smaller images (or 4 or 8), it will work fine, even though the overall "map" in Roll20 would be the same size. So it probably actually varies based on the computer you are using, even.

Out of curiosity rpgman2013, is this map suppose to be a 150 x 150 grid in size? If your map is set to its 100% scale in Roll20, that's how big a 10,500px x 10,500px would be.
I don't know why I made it that big in Photoshop. Just happened to be that size and found out about this oddness. I understand what Riley is suggesting, just odd since I have a very , though albeit old, good video card. I will do some experimenting and checking.

The reason I mentioned it was that image is MASSIVE for web! It's not really an issue with your image resolution, but you get to a point where a browser is going to get hung up on a jpg due to image dimensions alone. If you're designing images for Roll20 to be used for a grid, keep in mind that a grid square on our tabletop displays 70 pixels by 70 pixels of image data. For hexes it's a bit of an approximation, but their dimensions aren't much more than that either (give or take ten/twenty pixels in a given direction). Designing more than that is artificially inflating your image file and slowing down your gameplay for next to no visual difference.
Well in answer to your question. I was making a map in Photoshop that was 1500m x 1500x, which if you x70 is 10500. The problem is, that would work if it was 1m = 1" of VTT. The problem is it was x5 too big. So 1500m/5 = 300 x 70 = 2100. So yeah it was waaaaaay too big. I was surprised though. I re-sized down to like 7100 I think. Surprising thing was at 10500 I could only view at 10% and at 7100 only at 40%. I did not try it but others have said the were able to view an image as large as 3000x3900. I have not tried that I think. I will have to look at my Formula De race tracks. Those were massive. Cannot remember how big they were but I think it was in the 7000's at least. The files were nearly 10Mb. Again, need to and check those to make sure.
I'm not sure about the JPB format you say you're using, but could you try saving it as an actual JPG ? maybe that solves it already? And 10 MB for a map? That's insanely huge.
Sorry it was JPG, damn dyslexic fingers! Oh the humanity of it, the HUMANITY!
