Anyone interested in a story/character driven game? [Tavern Tales]

Me and one other has been on the lookout for a certain kind of player that may be interested to play in the same way that we enjoy to. Firstly, fairly important to note, we go with text only, and English only. I generally like to keep a very small group for the sake of scheduling and consistency, big groups tend to get clunky and chaotic for us. We play our characters seriously, and how things would logically or realistically work, which means we wouldn't have a lich prance around for no reason while singing in a musical; that said, we still have our silly moments and laugh. We will be using Tavern Tales, which simplifies and lessens gameplay to allow more for open roleplay; if you're already familiar with Tavern Tales, skip the next paragraph. If you're not, don't worry, it's a very simple system, even if you don't feel like reading through all of the rules. We home-brew some things, but use a lot from the system. What is Tavern Tales ? "Tavern Tales is a fantasy-themed tabletop roleplaying game (RPG) that invites players to take on the roles of powerful heroes who fight dangerous monsters, explore exotic locations, and interact with amazing characters. RPGs are unique in the world of games in that there is no ultimate objective. Players don’t win or lose—they simply make decisions and see where the adventure takes them. An RPG is a collaborative story where everyone affects the outcome." The system is very central around character and story driven roleplay rather than complex rolls and getting stuck on gameplay mechanics. We do have very simple and general stats, rolls, and sort of abilities, but they are only to help describe your character and give some random chance to happen in the story itself. We tend to keep an open and general setting to enable a multitude of different possibilities to happen, and allow characters to have their own unique story if appropriate for them. We are able to create simple characters or expansive characters with unique back stories, yet we try to remain reasonable and logical enough. Medieval fantasy tends to be our go-to setting. The GM is less of a dictatorial being looming over the field, but more of someone to create or help keep the story going, and even just a character along side. Me and another are capable GMs, but we also wouldn't mind if anyone else wished to take up GMing. I don't think I'm strict, but I'm looking for certain sort of people that would be able to enjoy the game with us. For the most part, I'm looking for folks who have an open schedule, an open mind about story or even the minor gameplay present, who has some maturity (scary things and bad language could happen!), who aren't jerks, and generally people who wish to take roleplay seriously instead of getting strung up on gameplay mechanics. I'm also looking for folks who may be interested to play multiple sessions or even multiple campaigns. And lastly, of course, to note, we're only human, and mistakes may and will be made. Ultimately, we're here to have fun. Non ramble version: Uses Tavern Tales system Text and English only (I'm pretty shy over voice) Serious character and story driven plots instead of complex game mechanics Open and general setting [typically medieval fantasy], for simple to unique characters Looking for players who: are open minded, have an open schedule, are fairly mature, aren't jerks, take roleplay seriously Timezone: Doesn't really matter, but the time changes; we tend to play late-night EST. Frequency of playing: Any time we're online and feel like it. The game will begin whenever everyone is ready, but of course as soon as possible. Ideal player #: At least three to four or five (includes GM). I've actually played many times with 1 player and 1 gm and had fun. Bigger parties tend to get clunky and harder to manage. I will of course provide a link to join in roll20 to those who may be interested. Please do not be discouraged if it somehow happens to get full and I do not invite. Does this interest you? Have any questions? Please do comment below if so! If I forgot anything, I'll add it on later.
This sounds amazing! I've been looking to play a character driven game for a while, I'm more a method actor myself, so I really would enjoy the chance to fully flesh out a character, play what drives me.
This sounds really amazing! I love the roleplaying aspect of RPGs, but most of the campaigns I joined seemed to concentrate more on killing monsters and getting loot. I like creating interesting characters and playing them out in a campaign. I've had a read of the Tavern Tales pdf, but I might need some help as I've never played it before. The only concern I might see is the timezone - I'm GMT. English also isn't my first language, so I might make tiny mistakes here and there, but that's about it.
This also caught my interest as well. I've been playing a Pathfinder campaign for the better part of a year and a half and I think this could help with constructive thinking and gaming as a whole. I've always found backstories and character development one of my favorite aspects of any RPG I also live in the GMT+2 timezone but I have a pretty flexible timeline of playing, I'm looking forward to playing with you guys, if circumstances prove fortunate. I'm already in the process of reading trough the rulebook and I can write fluent English but don't be surprised if you see some form of error every now and then.
