It is not a trap....Just a token

OK, Im so noob. I got the API script for Its a Trap. It says All I need to do is place a token on the dm layer with a cobweb marker. But nothing happens....and how to I pick what type of trap and the damage and so on. Or is it just suppose to tell them they have found a trap? If it is only suppose to tell them that (which it doesnt atm). Can I get it to do a perception check on the char before they get to it to see if they see it? If I can how? Oh and I have ADHD and it is hard for me to read and comprehend things so please bare with me. And if you can offer help through Voice (like Skype or in Game) I would appreciate it alot. I do have C+ programming training. So Im not a complete scripting noob.

Hi Shawn, i LOVE this script so hopefully can help you get it up and running. First off make sure you have it's dependencies installed: Token Collisions Vector Math It is likely these that are missing. For the trap description and damage/saves etc you can enter that information on the Token itself in the GM notes. I'm not sure if it works with the vanilla version (mine has been slightly modified over time) but you might be able to also include inline rolls into the text in the GM notes to have rolls made for damage etc too. If not, let me know and i'll post my version of the script for you to try out. Currently it doesn't work with passive perception or active searching as far as i know, although that it something i'd love to see added at some point (possibly using character token auras to interact with the trap token to trigger the check or something?). I'm at work right now so can't help verbally but feel free to keep posting here with any issues and i'll do my best to help get you up and running with this awesome and really versatile script (i use it for room descriptions, traps, important notes etc that i want to feed to my players while stopping them from proceeding too far on a map).

I have the dependencies loaded, well I tried they keep giving me an invalid token error...I dont know this language so debugging the problem will be a nightmare. I would be interest in using it for other things as well. I see a lot of potential in this. Specially if we can figure out how to summon in tokens and sound/visual effects, course they may need to add functions for that first lol.

Often the unexpected token error is a script that lacks a ; at the end... there may be deeper issues but without seeing the full set up i'd be shooting in the dark really.
Yea I tried to send ya a private message but it couldnt find ya.

Ha, no worries.. I'm sure it will get sorted.
did anyone get this working with GM notes feeding the information to power cards 3 by any chance?
I helped someone set it up once, but I don't have that version of It's a Trap any longer.
that was me i think, i had to put the text into a switch statement by name
Please share if you can, man this would allow for custom traps. Could it get the emote and all from power card 3, that was we could do triggers for other events?

Man, if any of you guru's have some time in the future I would love to get on vent, or skype and pick your brains. I am so overwhelmed with things you can do as a DM on roll 20. I really need some DM guidance for making the best out of my games for my players.
