Session 76: That time of the month Present: Malagven, Dark Elf Warlock/Sorcerer - lvl 3 (Niko) Ferhem, Dragonborn Fighter/Warlock - lvl 3 (Clarence) Zeech, Aarakocra Monk - lvl 2 (Sam) Pyrrha, High Elf Wizard - lvl 2 (Justine) Sharleen as Ira, Human Barbarian - lvl 5 (Taleek) Tarvok, Dwarf Cleric - lvl 1 (Luchie) Hey Elucis! Please read this to Salv since he still isn't reading his letters. This time I actually trust some of my party members. I know it's so odd. This feeling inside my chest. It's almost like I don't expect them to kill me. I went on another scouting mission, Kind of. We where supposed to find a person called Acidosis. It was assumed that it was an easy task which couldn't be further from the truth. This time I traveled with a Dark elf called Malagven, Pyrrha a High Elf, Ferhem a Dragonborn, Tarvok the Dwarf, and Sharleen the strongest woman I've seen. Malagven seems like a power hungry Warlock who doesn't really care for his Party. He I do not trust. Pyrrha is a fiery wizard who I didn't get to talk to that much. But she does seem like a good person. Tarvok was just looking for some gold since he had just arrived on Haven. If only he knew the danger he got himself into. Ferhem seems like a overconfident idiot. We can probably abuse his overconfidence. Now Sharleen, this is true strength. She was clearly the reason we didn't all die, I owe her my life so I will remain in debt to until she decides to cash that in. It seems like she is some type of convict so you guys might be able to help her if she needs it. We all met in the Tipsy Mermaid and we quickly left for the Borian. We arrived in Camp Galv and Sharleen walked into the camp and found the central tent. The man in the tent seemed to know her but not by the name of Sharleen but instead he called her Ira. She gave us a stern look but I ignored her look and still asked about it. She waved it off and continued the conversation. When she was done we left for the island to the south where we would meet this Acidosis. While on our way we we stayed on top of a cliff a rested for the night. Right before morning while me and Malagven where both on watch I heard a sound that sounded like a pop. I could see that Malagven saw the source of this popping sound but I couldn't see it in the darkness. We where being attacked by a blood golem made to look just like Malagven. It threw a red crystal at Malagven which woke up everyone else. I quickly stomped out the fire so that it wouldn't see us in the darkness. Sadly since it was a copy of Malagven it could see in the darkness anyway. Tarvok and Sharleen quickly reacted and ran out which I believes is the reason they too got copied. Tarvok to has darkvission so still stomping out the fire didn't do anything. Since I couldn't see anything and I didn't want to fall down the cliff or run into someone I threw my darts at any golem in range and then jumped down to remain hidden. It was mostly Sharleen that did everything. She dealt incredible amounts of damage while not getting hit herself. The morning after we made our way to the southern edge of Borian. There we found a obelisk which talked to Malagven. It told him a bunch of stuff about Acidosis and his island. Apparently he was driven mad and had performed a ritual to make the aura in the area increase from one to nine. We where not too thrilled about this. We decided that we should all sleep and decide what to do the morning after. By the end of the night we heard a loud screech and big thumping. We this time where being attacked by a Blood Construct which would kick out asses if Sharleen wasn't there. Sharleen ran straight at it and kept us safe whilst also whittling it down. I stayed far away and threw darts at it and at one point I poured a poition down Sharleens throat. Sadly Tarvok at one point got too close and the construct decided that was his next victim. It ran at him completely decimated him and Raptured him and then drank his blood to regain some health. Again thanks to Sharleen we managed to eventually kill it. But this wasn't the end of our night. I'm not sure what happened, I must have blacked out or something. But the next thing I know Farhem is being paralyzed by his own blood. Some one was talking about snakes but and Sharleen had blood in front of her eyes that was forming in the shape of High Valkarian text. I saw a shadow not that far away from us. We talked to this person and he asked us to come with him to his house. We decided that it would be easier to follow. Farhems paralyzation was removed and we followed him. He brought us a long way away from camp to his house. He gave us a artifact and asked us not to return for our own safety. We talked to him for a while but we eventually left and returned to the Camp Galv and made our way back to Haven. - Zeech
Session 74: The Fane of Arsha, Pt. 8 (face-to-face) [face-to-face sessions are not included in the tier assistant so as not to confuse players it doesn't apply to. The face-to-face sessions count as sessions attended for everyone attending them, but not as sessions missed for the people who did not attend.] Present: Ffiona; lvl 4 Human Ranger (Seraphina) Archer; lvl 3 Half-Elf Ranger (Daniel B) Desna; lvl 3 Elf Druidess (Pippa B) Seeker; lvl 2 Human Rogue (Jon R) Notable NPC's: Colodus; Our Paladin benefactor Trarbon; lvl 2 Dwarf Cleric NPC Dear Linny, After we awoke from investigating our booty, We moved back downstairs. We carefully moved through the room with the Minotaur statue, which was fortunately empty of life and challenge. We moved down the stairs to the corridor next to the room with the Minotaur that gave Seeker that cursed gold, to see Seeker, lit up by the fire coming from inside that room. He was talking to the Minotaur about getting out. We approached and conversed with him. Seeming as he needed to get out, we decided to let him join us again, so long as he didn't give any of us any of that gold, to which Trarbon protested, revealing his dwarven nature. We managed to keep him away from it. Reunited with Seeker, we moved up the corridor a little before I heard some movement around the corner. It sounded like a group of dog-like creatures, but it turned out to be a group of Hyena-like creatures. Specifically; ten Gnolls. Panicked, we ran into the nearby room with the levers, that the other Minotaur feeds in, and pulled the lever with the blood on, remembering that that lever closed the door. We remembered right, and the door shut. Seeker told me to open the door again and let him out so he could distract the Gnolls, and draw them to the Minotaur. I opened the door and quickly shut it behind him. I waited about ten seconds, hoping the Gnolls would have been led to the Minotaur by then. When I opened the door and left the room, Seeker was running away from the Minotaur's room. Later he told me the Minotaur had gone. Fortunately the Gnolls proved to be relatively easy to defeat. We slew all but two, who ran away in the direction of the room with the Mammoth statue. We turned and ran in the direction of the way we entered the fane. We luckily weren't confronted by any nasties on our way out. The only confrontation we had on our way out was with the two-headed giant. Only one of the heads was awake, and he wanted something shiny off each of us. Seeker gave him some of the cursed gold, to which he ate, saying it was tasty. I was very keen on keeping my Lykeri arrows I'd just obtained, so I convinced him all I had were two guiding arrows. He protested at first, but then I reminded him he accepted one as a gift when we first came in, which convinced him. He grabbed the arrows and gobbled them up, saying they were quite nice. Archer then gave the giant a yellow gem shard, which the Giant found passable taste-wise, and let him through. Trarbon, not knowing what to give, opened up the box to find four rings. He gave one to the giant, which the giant found very tasty, saying it was the best one of the lot. Desna; while we were giving gifts, turned into a spider, and managed to sneak along the ceiling to the other side. Colodus who was last to approach the Giant, grabbed his necklace, and told the giant he didn't need to give any gift. To which the giant said 'You don't need to give any gift.' Then, let Colodus through. Only one more room after the giant's room, and then we were outside. I of course took in the fresh air and soft ground as much as I could. We all took it in to be fair, though I kind of lost it a bit; rolling in the ground, giggling to myself. The others left me to it. While I was thoroughly enjoying myself, Seeker went off to inform the Ashanni of what had transpired. I hope he made Umbala sound like a hero that they could be proud of. He was. When Seeker returned, he found us in the Flet we used just before entering the Fane. I gave Seeker the two daggers, to which Seeker was appreciative. Once we had rested we set off to return to Haven. Once back in Haven, I went and told all the factions that know of me, of the information on Sklar that we had discovered in the fane; the Blue Sashes, the Black Lions, and the Rising Suns. I then journeyed to the Vale and told them. I hope they believed me. Then I found Tarville and told him. I don't know how he reacted, I kind of left before he could say anything. I have to rest, for a long time. I hope you are safe and well. Love, Ffiona xx

Session 77: The Treaty of Ithilkir Present: Grigor Payne; HumanFighter Lvl 3(Witch Hunter) Cain Immortui; Human Paladin Lvl 5 (SlothSlow) Vedinia Julianus; Human Druid Lvl 4 (Elee) Velatha "Pyrrha" Tyrurdrenn; Lithian Elf Wizard Lvl 2 (Justine) Argus Teramr; Half Orc Cleric Lvl 3 (peter) Rath; Dragonborn Sorcerer Lvl 1 (Mark K) Raven; Human/Fighter Rogue Lvl 4 (Stephen) Dear Brother, I am writing to you so that I may inform you of the events that transpired during my journey to Khulican. I am glad to say that my mission was successful and I managed to convince the Dwarven Kingdom of Khulican to join us in our war to come. In return for this they have requested aid in defeating some of their own enemies. A faction of blood talon cultist who even assaulted my caravan during the journey. I fear that they may be working with the red emperor, and I agree with High-Priest Tintu that they must be eliminated before we can ask the Khuli to leave themselves unguarded. That is the most pertinent information, but I will include a full written report below so that you may inform yourself of the journey. Our group left off for Khulican quite uneventfully. There isn't much to say of the boat ride other than that Garvey Pentos, and his Sergeant named Boltar gave some trouble when my security crew asked them to take oaths of truth. Eventually I managed to convince Mr. Pentos that the oath was just a formality, and Sir Cain was able to in fact confirm his general loyalty. I hope I did not offend him, but I'm afraid in these times caution is of the utmost importance. After that unfortunate event we were able to continue the waterborne portion of our trip with no further issues. Upon arriving at Fort Vedinia I traded places with the one known as Pyrrha using the magical gem you gifted me. The item performed its function, and she served quite admirably as my replacement for the dweomer's duration. The rest of our stay at Fort Vedinia was rather uneventful save for Sir Cain being teleported from the dinner feast. Apparently some of his companions had displeased one of the local avatars, and she now seeks a recompense in the form of 1,800 imperial gold pieces. I am not sure of the details in this matter, but I would suggest perhaps talking to the man of this issue. It would be unfortunate to lose a valuable knight loyal to the Valmar Empire, but at the same time I know our coffers run thin. Anyways the next morning our caravan headed out quite speedily. We quickly met up with a group of knights from the Dwarven Kingdom of Khulican, and from there we continued our journey to the city known as Ithilkir, also known as Khuli. It was not far along this journey that we were ambushed by enemies from the west. A large wereboar, and a group blood raging elves came viciously at our caravan. These were the blood talon cultist I spoke of before. They were berserkers, mad with rage from sinister blood rituals. I quickly responded, and used my magic to impede their path. Even in their rage only one of the elves was torn apart by the vines before the others avoided the area. Yet even just that bought time for our men to form a line to defend the caravan. After that I turned my attention to the wereboar, and put a spell on him to prevent his movement. The dweamor worked, and gave Sir Cain the time necessary to strike down the creature with his enchanted hammer. After that we quickly cut down the rest of the men all while losing only one of our own. I will say that two things are worth noting from this encounter. The first is that the blood elves clearly sought to kill me. They attacked from the rear to divert our men's attention. This was luckily ruined by Sir Raven's wisdom as he put out dancing lights to reveal our enemies. Though I may note that not all things are left up to intuition. Perhaps in the future he should be questioned under oath to confirm this was a hunch, and not some collusion he had made with the blood cultists. The second thing I will mention is that the wereboar seemed immune to all non-magical weapons. When fighting the elves in the future we should ensure at least a portion of our men are capable of attacking with enchanted weaponry, even if it is temporary. After the fight concluded we discovered that the rear of our forces did not fair quite as well as we had. The losses were quite hefty even in spite of my magical healing. (OOC Note: Vedinia cured a total of 80 hit points after the fight if you include the 50 berries she had made the day before). We hurried on for the rest of the journey, only stopping to drop off family members to some of the dwarves. They were bodies we recovered afterwords that had been used in some sort of blood ritual. With that deed done we continued on, and eventually arrived in the grand city of Ithilkir. This city was quite a marvel to see I must say. Though in many ways it paled in comparison to our own home, in others it shocked me greatly. It was a huge city located in an enormous cavern underground. It stood between both the ceiling, and floor of this humongous cave! Even more shocking they had a sun shard traveling through the cavern to simulate the light of day. I have seen few things as bright as that fragment of the first sun. It was here at this grand entrance we were greeted by their ambassador. She was a dwarven exalted instructor named Kyerri. She was quite humble, and welcomed us peacefully as guests into the city. She showed us to a fine inn known as the Inn of the Candle of Lightning. This place did indeed live up to its name as it had a magical stone with lightning in it generating light. Even more impressive was their delicious food. We were served a fine blueberry wine, and an axebeak spicy wrap with mammoth cheese for dinner. Even for my taste it was well made, and convinced me to gather a large selection of their finest wines, and ales. You may decide from the sample what it is you wish to keep a supply of in the future. After the fine dinner that night we all got a good night's rest. Then as morning came we made way to their high temple. It was here I made negotiations with their high priestess named Tintu. It took a bit of work, but I managed to share with them the urgency of the situation. I gifted them the finely made tapestry that we had made, and they offered to gift you in return with a proper monument to immortalize this treaty. I believe I have little more to write on this matter aside from that. I hope to see you again soon. Perhaps we can share a bottle of dwarven blueberry wine. With Love, Vedinia Julianus

Session 78: Making of a Cripple Present: Tek Valorn - Fighter Lvl 2 (Chris) Malagven, Dark Elf Warlock/Sorcerer lvl 3 (Niko) Zeech, Aarakockra, Monk lvl 3 (Sam) Ivilion, Wood Elf, Ranger Lvl 1 (Hairy0tter) Nyx, Forest Gnome, Ranger Level 3 (Justine) Hey Elucis, and Salv if you are reading this to him. These last months I have been missing you guys greatly, but I have met a couple of people I actually enjoyed to adventure with. A Nyx and a Ivilion. They are and endless source of entertainment. Ivilion tends to do a lot stuff which puts him in trouble and it's hilarious. I can see him right now as I write this letter he's standing in the bar telling some patrons about how he slayed a dragon. Anyway we went to the Borian, again. So Nyx is very... Welcoming I guess. Her first words to me where along the lines of "A bird! hi I'm Nyx!". At first I wanted to be mad at her for remarking my race. Like all the glances I get everywhere I go. But she was more welcoming than any of those stares making it hard for me to be mad at her for it. Ivilion isn't that out going but like I mentioned earlier he brings a lot of misfortune on himself and I love it. I'm going to try and adventure with either of them in the future if I can. Now also traveled with Malagven again. Before now I just thought of him like a annoying asshole. But today has proven that he is a annoying asshole with a lot of power. If you run into him do try and keep your business with him short, he is not someone you want to have on your back all the time. I also had the pleasure of traveling with a person by the name of Tek. He gives me the bounty hunter vibe, stay away from him if you can. I don't know for sure but you can never be too safe. Except for that he seemed like a decent fellow. I didn't pay him much attention. I mostly spent this adventure laughing at Ivilion. Tek was standing by the notice board in the Tipsy Mermaid I was waiting for a group to form so I could join and I was observing Tek as a potential party member. After a while Nyx and Ivilion came bursting through the door shouting. Nyx quickly noticed Tek and greeted him, it seemed like they knew each other. She then introduced Ivilion to Tek. While they where all talking about something I made my way up to them like I tend to do. They didn't notice me for a couple of seconds but then Nyx noticed me and loudly proclaimed "Bird!". It caught me off guard and I wasn't sure how to react so I just ignored it. Then Tek introduced himself and I said hi but my attention was elsewhere as I finally had found someone shorter than me who wasn't a Dwarf, Halfling, or Gnome. A Wood Elf shorter than me. Me! I pointed this out and he seemed confused. After some talking I got a feeling, like some magical garbage was moving through the city. And the Malagven stepped into the inn. From Teks reaction he had had a similar experience to the one I had with Malagven. I greeted him with an ice cold shoulder, but he didn't seem to notice or he just didn't care. Tek did the same and again Malagven ignored it. Malagven too joined our party.  We then made our way to the boat to the Borian. I got to meet Graysnarl Nyx's wolf friend. As she doesn't like him to be called a pet. The captain didn't want the wolf on the boat being scared of it going feral. Nyx didn't do much to convince him of other wise. Tek managed to talk him down and allow him onboard. It was a calm trip except for the constant vomiting from Ivilion. Then when we almost made it to the island Nyx yelled out that she saw a person in the water. I called her crazy seeing as I didn't see anything. After a couple minutes we saw a big humanoid creature swimming by the boat. Malagven stared with such force that it got scared and looked around itself just to make sure Malagven wasn't going to attack. Nyx then loudly greeted it "Hi I'm Nyx!". It didn't seem to care and just swam next to the boat for while before leaving us to our own devices. We came to the shore and made our way to the captain. Malagven seemed to know him personally. But Malagven referred to him only as "Captain". How rude, the man probably wants to be called by name. I didn't get a chance to ask his name since the party wanted to leave quite quickly. We started heading south west towards this supposed wasteland. We made it quite far and we managed to remain hidden even if Ivilion did make multiple loud sounds all the time. At one point he tripped and faceplanted. But we at eventually found some clearing with a lot of earth rumbling. We all slowly made our way through this clearing. A earth elemental jumped up from the ground a bit away. Malagvan instantly threw a blast of force energy towards it. Tek tried to stop him but alas was too late. The earth elemental who seemed neutral, wasn't too happy about this. Then Malagven started talking to it in some language I never heard before. Looks like you didn't teach me enough Elucis. But it seemed to calm him down at first. But then Tek told him to mention the Green Shackle and I face palmed. Seeing as I had read the log I knew about the elementals revolting and breaking free from the shackles.  But alas he mentioned it anyway. This enraged the creature and it attacked us. It burrowed under ground and no one was sure where it was going to jump up. I wasn't too worried, thanks to the training in the mountains knew not to move. I started by flying up into the air avoiding it completely. But there where two giant rocks right next to me so I decided that staying close to them would be a bad idea. I then noticed that Ivilion climbed up a tree and I realized that perhaps the roots of the tree would stop the elemental from moving towards us. Sadly that was not the case. But it didn't attack me instead it attacked the tree itself.  Ivilion managed to jump down the tree before it fell but he pushed it in my direction. Luckily I'm not a complete idiot and dodged it. The elemental kept on hiding in the ground so we where having issues locating it. I then decided to put away my bow, pull out my sword, and run to the middle of this clearing. That way I could remain still and wait for it to come to me. After a short while it did exactly that. It came out of the ground and charged me. I took a hit but it was nothing I couldn't handle. As we all where waiting for it. The party unleashed a volley of attacks towards it leaving weak and easy to finish off. After the fight Nyx told us that she sensed a dragon nearby, within 6 miles. I ran and hid in a bush. Eventually it was decided that the dragon wasn't close to us but the others decided that this is not a safe place to rest. And that our other options where either a desert or a cave. I strongly opposed both of them. Do you remember that time in on the beach in that little village. I had sand in my feathers for weeks. And that time in the Velatic ruins where I had a panic attack and refused to move for hours. Anyway I decided that the desert would be a better option. We found a small sandy desert area with a rock wall giving us some shelter. There was a rock pillar which I thought would be a perfect spot to sleep. On mine and Ivilion's watch Ivilion saw some large creature fly by and with all the mentions of a dragon not too far away Ivilion shouted "Dragon!" And woke everyone. The dragon was no where to be seen but a small bird was standing in front of us. We the others where not happy with this. Nyx tried talking to it but was not able to. But Malagvan was. It talked Draconic for some reason. It kept on mentioning the dragon and it kept on repeating "Bird, Bird, Bird". It talked a lot I was really tired so tried to I could maybe talk to it by just gawking. I think it was offended because it then pecked my foot. It talked about a dragon nearby, it wanted us to find the dragon. We decided that the mission took priority. We kept on moving and made our way to a large dessert. When we reached the desert I flew up in the air to try and scout but the wind quickly became to strong for me to handle so I had to land. Nyx yelled out "Sandstorm!" And dropped to the ground covering her face. Ivilion wanted us to run towards the forest before the sandstorm reached us. We decided that we wouldn't make it so we dropped to the ground and covered our faces. The storm raged for about five minutes and it covered my feathers in sand. When the storm had passed we found ourselves in a completely different area. I tried to find scout to determine where we had ended up but I had no idea. We decided to make our way to the forest to avoid this sandstorm magic. Nyx started searching for a good place to rest while we made our way to the coast. And on our way we found the place where the desert met the forest and it was just a straight line with desert on the right and forest on the left. In the desert part we saw a small almost memorial looking structure. It was a big sphere flying above some raised stone. We tried to inspect it without triggering anything. Malagven began a ritual so he would be able to see magic. He said he could see runes on the orb. He told us some said "The Void Is Free" and then he walked around it and saw that it said "Here Lies the Black Shackle". We didn't find any creatures nearby but we where on our guard. Nyx stepped too close to it and her wolf triggered something and a bunch of runes lit up and slowly turned darker. Eventually the sphere shattered and out jumped a little black dragon. Malagven began talking to him. He said his name was Kalameet the black shackle. He had no idea how much time had passed since his disappearance four thousand years ago. He asked us to free him and I rolled high on my insight check so I knew he was talking the truth. I payed Ivilion thirty gold to free the dragon. He took out his rope and threw it into the circle and told Kalameet to grab a hold of the rope. Ivilion, Greysnarl, and I pulled it out together. Kalameet asked us to test his strength so Malagven threw a bolt at him and the bolt seemed to do nothing. Kalameet then asked if he could try his own strength on Malagven I stepped up and said I would probably be able to survive the most damage so I took one for the team and allowed him to hit me. He used some kind of mental power and threw me around for a while. Ivilion pointed and laughed as I was thrown around. I was pretty pissed about the whole thing. Kalameet decided that he was strong enough to travel on his own so he started walking. Made an attempt to fly but wasn't able to. Ivilion snickered and Kalameet heard him, so he threw Ivilion in the lake. I came to help Ivilion but he got himself up so I tried to push him in thinking that would be hilarious. He managed to sidestep and push me in instead though so now I was a sandy wet bird. I got up from the water and behind me there was a couple water elementals following. Malagven tried to calm then but again failed. They ignored him and charged straight at me. I managed to dodge some hits. But I tried to flee them but they where smarter than I thought they where and they both go a hit in. They almost knocked me out with those few hits. I ran towards the structure to get away from the elementals. Nyx was standing next to me and I asked her "Please don't leave me". She left me. I tried to pull up a darkness cloud on top of the elemental to try and hide but he managed to see through it and knocked me out. I don't know how long I was gone but I woke up and felt a pulsing feeling in my head. Nyx was standing right next to me healing me. I saw Ivilion laying knocked out not that far from me and I threw my backpack on the ground to be able to run farther and ran to help him. I poured a healing poition down his throat. Managing to save his life but not his leg which was crushed by the elemental. After this the fight was pretty much over. I tried to help Ivilion while the others finished of the elementals. Sadly Ivilion broke his bow in the proposes of running so I borrowed him my bow until he could get his own repaired. I then felt a aching by my eye and noticed that I had a Straight scar running down my eye. How a elemental did this I don't know but I now have a scar by my eye. The bird from earlier came back and started talking to us again. It wanted us to move north to find the dragon but we didn't know if this dragon was going to be friendly. And if we where going to have to fight the dragon in this shape we wouldn't win. Ivilion made a custom saled so the wolf could pull him home I have to commend his ingenuity. We then left for Camp Galv. We managed to make it in one day and as soon as we arrived a doctor took a look on Ivilion and decided that the only solution was to amputate. Ivilion was not happy with this at all and kept on shouting "I'm a ranger! What is a ranger without his leg!". He didn't get his leg removed in the hopes that a druid at the unicorns could heal him. The doctor took a look on my eye and said it was nothing bad and that it would remain permanently but it would probably not harm me in any way. We got on the boat to Haven and on this ride Ivilion was even more annoying than the first time. More vomiting and more shouting in pain like a little girl. But not little girl like you Elucis more like Salv when he had a fishing hock in his thumb. We arrived in Haven only to find out that the Unicorns had no magic to heal Ivilions leg. His only option left was to amputate. I told him I would make him a peg leg. For the thirty gold I gave him earlier of course. And now I can see he's still standing by the bar boasting about how he killed two earth elementals by himself. I'm going to go over there and correct him. I actually miss you guys, but now I might be able to actually get some entertainment from these fools. I hope you guys come back soon - Zeech

(Sander) (*Any errors/omissions in the list of players present will be corrected/added as soon as im made aware of them.) Mission Log Written by: Vâltyr Agnarsson The 3 rd of Quicken 986 An exploration party consisting of Silver Darkpaw, Utiprak Ekru, Dux Profectus Herus, Tarville, Weasel and Vâltyr Agnarsson, accompanied by the carrier Carver ventured to Macra. We arrived in the afternoon and decided to go head North, Silver leading the way. The first afternoon was spendt simply getting into the depths of the cavern systems. Silver also told me he found some tracks from a large humanoid, so based on the bounty on ogres i'm guessing thats what left them. The 4 th of Quicken 986 The next day we continued North and after some hours noticed tracks that almost certainly belonged to one or more basilisks coming from a tunnel heading west. We decided to continue North. Some time after we noticed hissing noises coming from behind us, wanting to keep our retreat as safe as possible we decided to lay an ambush. The pursuers turned out to be two basilisks, one white and one green, the white charged through our ambush and tore into Dux, the green one engaged me. After a short engagement the basilisks lay dead, Dux was unconcious but alive after Tarville intervened and Silver Darkpaw was stone statue. I tok over the role of guide and we decided to head for the gnome village in an effort to save Silver, on our way there we had the choice between two paths, West then South, or walk a few hours South then take the passage the basilisks had likely emerged from Westwards. We opted for the second passage but when we started getting close we yet again heard hissing leading me to believe there is a basilisks nest between the tunnel we followed North and the gnome village. Not wanting to get into another fight we turned around and made for the passage that would have been closest from where we started. This path went without any further trouble and we eventually encountered a group of gnomes, upon seeing Silver's petrified form one of them signaled us to follow, leading us through the tunnels to a chamber where we waited. After roughly 20 minutes a gnome girl arrived, this one spoke low valmari albeit not very well. She led us further through the tunnels and eventually through the cave wall after speaking a few words to it, on the other side there was an encampement, and at most 50 gnomes. The gnome girl introduced us to their leader, a male gnome called Megdwin, distinguishable by his three fingers excluding his thumb. It should be noted that the gnomes had previously made a gesture where they would hide their little finger behind their ring finger, Megdwin would make this same gesture except he didn't need to conceal any fingers. Megdwin told us they had a trade agreement with the empire so we could stay the night in the camp and in the morning he would show us a well traveled route so we could eventually make it back to Haven. During consersation that evening and the following morning we learned that while Megdwin needed gnome girl to translate his words to us. He understod low valmari but couldn't speak it. Megdwin also asked us if we could bring him three donkeys, something we agreed to. We also learn they survive on certain mushrooms as food, allthough they need to be boiled properly. Water they get from a container no larger than a waterskin that seemingly never goes empty. Tarville gifted Megdwin a potion of healing in appriciation for sheltering us, in return he was given a green crystal, Tarville gave this crystal to me and before the everyone except him returned to Haven he informed me that it was of significance, most likely likely connected to their protector and that i should hold on to it. In the camp stod two statues looking abit like elves, Tarville asked about these and Megdwin explained, through the gnome girl that they were protectors, it was what allowed them to stay hidden from their enemies. Megdwin exaplined that their protector could rise from the ground and destroy anyone who didn't pay their respect to their gods, indicating their statues. After some convincing Megdwin made a drawing in the dust of this protector, Utiprak Ekru was able to identify this is Sorn, an earth elemental. With this information, we brought Silver with us back to Haven. Signed: Vâltyr Agnarsson, marine in his majesty's imperial navy & associate of the Red Dragon Brigade.

Session 78: Making of a Cripple Present: Tek Valorn, Fighter Lvl 2 (Chris) Malagven, Dark Elf Warlock/Sorcerer lvl 3 (Niko) Zeech, Aarakockra, Monk lvl 3 (Sam) Ivilion, Wood Elf, Ranger Lvl 1 (Hairy0tter) Nyx, Forest Gnome, Ranger Level 3 (Justine) So Gentlemen, you want to hear about this old leg of mine eh? Well, pull up a stool, grab me an ale, and open your ears, this one is a blinder!! 20 th of Quickern… Oh how I should have just stayed in bed this day…. yes, bed would have been a good fucking idea…. A good fucking idea indeed. Waking up I saw a nice sunrise, well, as nice as I was ever going to get here and thought to myself ‘You know what, today is going be a nice day’, Oh how I was sorely mistaken…. So there I was getting dressed and what do I do? I go stub my bloody grand toe on the wall, cursing the wall and rubbing my grand I wish I would never have to feel that again (Ivilion reaches down to what used to be his leg) a wish I should never have made. After recovering from my stubbing accident I proceed to go down stairs to get some food in the grand hall of the ‘Unicorn Inn’… which isn’t that great can I just point out. So Nyx yes, this little gnome I had seen around the place my first few days in the Unicorns had approached me asking if I would like to do a job? A Job!!! Why would I willingly go do a job but I though what the hell, she’s cute maybe see where this could go. She immediately introduced me to her pet Greysnarl who I had mistaken for her boyfriend before noticing a large wolf which seemed rather obedient and behaved. Turns out she is more interested in her wolf than anything else… We ended up heading into the ‘Tipsy Mermaid’ where I had to wait for her to catch up (Ivilion looks around saying ‘Fives and Twenties gentlemen, Fives and Twenties’) Gnomes hey? Shortly after Nyx’s arrival she waves over and says hi to a man I now know as ‘Tek Valorn’ I won’t go into details but his crossbows are deadly, He is not… I think he needs some spectacles, Anyway, he mentions a job to us about some island no one returned from, which I wasn’t even consulted on, but Nyx had decided we would join him anyway!! Not only had I been dragged to a drunken mermaid’s inn, I then had this bird fellow come up to me, who was a friend of the others, and say, ‘It’s rare for someone to be shorter than me’… the bloody audacity of him!! He’s lucky I didn’t just pop him one right there and then, but what would Nyx have said… didn’t want to make a bad impression now did I (Ivilion winks). Another guy came with us as well, friends with Tek I think, I didn’t get to know him very well, kept to himself at most. So everyone had arrived and without even sitting down for an ale we were already off and on our way to the boat…. I was pretty parched myself and was looking forward to a drink before we left, but no, no one thought to ask me what I wanted to do did they! Ignorance is what that is gentlemen. We got to this enormous boat named ‘Wind Weaver’ more like the bloody rock and row!! As we tried to dock the boat the man at the top of the what seemed like a rotten piece of fencing stopped Nyx, asking her what she thought she was doing bringing a wolf on-board the ship, and after a small conversation with the man me and Nyx had managed to convince him that her wolf was domesticated and was able to behave itself. During our travel we happened to see some humanoids in the water, Nyx, with her big heart had tried to talk to them with some humble greetings, yet they turned their back to her and left without even returning the gesture… they were lucky I didn’t have my bow to hand…. Poor Nyx must have been heartbroken. 21 st of Quickern… upon arrival at the Island, of which I don’t quite remember the name, I never actually asked what it was (Ivilion bursts out laughing), but I know that the camp was named Galv and that the weather was nice and warm, almost perfect one could describe it, we were greeted by a man who seemed to be in charge and again I never bothered to ask (Ivilion frowns), I probably should have though. Shortly after Tek came out with what he thought was a funny comment ‘Keep your pets in line’ to Nyx!!! ‘I don’t like being called pet’ I shouted at him and he scurried his way knowing that he was in the danger zone!! After a short while of conversation between the man that is in charge of the camp and Malagven, we had been informed that the actual island we were looking for, well at least we were meant to look for, was many miles South West of the camp across the waters at the edge of the island they had dropped us off at, how hard is it to get dropped off at the right island? (Ivilion pulls a confused face) So again we set straight off, after a whole day being on that boat I still don’t get a chance to have some ale!!! I could not believe it!! Gutted, I trudged along with them as they tried to sneak their way through the beautiful, peaceful serene forests that scaled the lands, I think I was second from the back if my mind is correct, probably the most dangerous position of a small party formation if you were to ask me! But I didn’t argue with the group, sometimes they just need to know someone is there to support them and is ready to take control if needed. During our travels we came across a small opening with some large trees potted around the edges and large rocks in the centre the grass was wild but not overgrown and a bright green giving almost a glow as the breeze blows through the blades causing a sea of beauty, so quiet and peaceful, one could rest there for days without having a worry in the world. Then all of a sudden Malagven began claiming he saw something within a bush nearby and cast one of his dark spells at it hitting nothing but bush and earth after a little investigation it was found to be nothing, the wind maybe? But then as if out of nowhere this great hulking creature raised from the earth, as if the lands had just taken a shit, turns out it was an ‘Earth elemental’ and I tell you now, it smelt like it as well!! Straight away I decided we should show him we have the means to use force against him. Shortly after Malagven began speaking one of his many languages, something I had never heard before, if I was to describe it the sounded would be like a baby gurgling on its own saliva, then all of a sudden the monster sunk into the ground without any sign of direction it was moving!! It had disappeared!!! Me being a wise man decided to climb a large tree in case the monster decided it was going to attack us and just as I had expected the monster raised right next to Tek, attacking suddenly whilst the rest of us managed to get our quick shots off, it then burrowed back into the ground, but this time to come up right in front of the tree I had climbed earlier in the fight, preventing it from being able to reach me it swung wildly at the body of the tree and with each swing the tree began the creek and moan until eventually, it was not able to hold its own and began to fall, using my cunning and the grace of a cat, I pounced out of the tree doing a forward roll mid-air I manged to land safely next to the beast, during my jump I noticed that Zeech had foolishly got in the way of the falling tree and was lucky that it had just missed him by a few inches. Again it burrowed like a coward, but now we knew its trick and everyone got into position and prepared to unleash as soon as it un burrowed, I thought I would get some height advantage by climbing the large rock in the centre of the opening, only to find out that it was another elemental which was staring me in the face, and with great reaction, I punched the thing straight in the nose, with a small mumble which could only be heard to those nearby, It sunk back into the rock but not without giving me a sort thrust causing me to lose my grip, falling and hurting my ankle slightly, but nothing I couldn’t handle. During my heroics, single headedly fighting off another elemental, the other one un burrowed next to Nyx, missing its attacks against her quick manoeuvres, as if she had danced against its attacks all her life, it took another round of arrows and bolts, causing some damage to its outer shell it sunk back into the ground, this time I was ready for it to appear, unlike the other time it rose away from us, giving us a distance advantage we unleashed another flurry of arrows and bolts causing significant damage, the elemental seemed to be weak yet began to charge Zeech, missing him completely Malagven managed to unleash a fatal Eldritch Blast causing the hulking giant to crumble into small pieces of rock and soil, I went straight over and crushed it below my foot to ensure its end. Nyx being a wise Ranger she is, checked the local area for magical beings, detecting a dragon but no more elementals. A long arduous fight against an elemental had caused the group to become tiresome, hurt and in need of rest, Nyx being a great outlander went a searched for somewhere to set up camp for the night, she returned shortly after her departure from the opening and informed us of a small desert patch a little way into the forest or a cave in the other direction, a group decision was made to head towards the desert to seek safety for the coming night. During the approach Malagven had gotten there a few minutes earlier and was already erecting his tent, everyone had taken up a short sentry during the hours of the sun setting, and slowly we became to take our watches for the night. First Tek followed by Malagven then I took the last 2 watches. 22 nd of Quickern… During my time on watch it was peaceful and quiet with a slow warm breeze running through the bush I was using as cover for my watch, I looked up to notice the stars beginning to go dark by what could only be described as a giant fucking dragon, flying overhead in the sky, I would not have noticed if the stars had not been there to shine out its silhouette, I didn’t want to alert the others for now and had run over kicking out the fire which Malagven left burning through the night. Coming to the end of my watch I began to wake the others up one by one quietly whispering to them ‘There was a dragon that flew over her earlier, stay low and quiet, it could still be nearby’. As I had just finished waking everyone up this small pitiful raven flew into the small rocky opening we had pitched up in to rest and landed a few feet in front of me, the others say that it was what I saw during the night, they did not see it how could they know!! What I saw was huge, fierce, not this tiny little critter that perched before me. Trying to shew it away, it merely kept its distance seeming un-effected by my efforts to get it to leave. Nyx being her chirpy self, began trying to befriend the raven saying ‘HI’ and trying to feed it berries, how she was kind to that pest. Malagven began speaking words of many different languages until he came to speak what was Draconic to the raven. I don’t know exactly what that fucking raven was speaking to Malagven about but I can tell you now, it was not good!!! Not good at all!! Fucking bird!!! That bird was a fucking dragon I swear it!! (Ivilion looks around noticing he got a little carried away) But anyway, a few hours later of conversation between Malagven and the wretched raven, the raven flew off and sat on the high rise to the west and watched us closely, scrutinizing us, trying to learn about is, I do not trust that fucking BIRD!!!! Continuing South West through the forests of the island alongside more of its beautiful plants, trees and natural cropping, we happened to come across a desert, rather bluntly as well, as if someone drew a big line and said one side desert and the other forest! But even with this strange change of scenery, we continued our journey to the coast line. The desert is a very boring place nothing but open sand dunes, which gets everywhere! No matter how carefully you tread or try to close up the gaps in your clothing it gets in there! I fucking hate sand! And then to top it all off what happens to come our way? Only a fucking sandstorm!! Sand was EVERYWHERE!!! I still find sand when I shit from time to time!! So yea this sandstorm comes up to us out of nowhere and the others are talking about trying to outrun it!! Fools, they ended up listening to me and Nyx who were smart enough to huddle up and cover ourselves from the harshest of the storm. Shortly after the storm had hit us it diminished into a low warm breeze, noticing this I un huddled from my shelter and let the others know it had gone. Losing our bearings slightly Zeech the bird man offered to fly up and take a look at our surroundings, the sandstorm hadn’t only attacked us, it had moved us west a few miles!! Teleporting magical evil sandstorms!! I fucking hate sandstorms!! Zeech noticed there to be forests again further west and with the day coming close to an end we decided it would be a good idea to head there and seek shelter for the night. Travelling west we got to the edge of the desert, which again was if someone drew a line between them, only this time Tak did a little investigating around the edges of the desert, he found that under the top layer of sand was some more of a red sand, picking some up he soon noticed that the colouring was due to blood, I’m not entirely sure but I’d go as far as saying that the whole desert was evil!! I mean c’mon there is sand, blood-sand and magical fucking sandstorms!! We had noticed a small ruin just down the edge of the desert and like a bunch of curious children we went to investigate it, a large squire platform with a ball into which wasn’t even touching it, yet we got closer and decided to investigate it!! You are probably asking yourselves ‘why?’ right now? Because this group was full of mentals!! Apart from me anyways (Ivilion chuckles away to ease some tension). Malagven had noticed some runes around the artefact, I can’t quite remember what it was he said they meant, but I’m sure it was something like ‘Void be tree’ and ‘Kalamari sleeps here’. After a little more time there Nyx’s wolf Greysnarl was wandering around and happened to walk over the ring of runes surrounding the artefact, that’s when they all began to glow, so me being a smart guy decided I would get into some cover and prepare a sneak attack in case we were attacked, the other stood their wide eyes and jaws open letting sand in whilst they waited for whatever was happening!! And after some minutes of the runes glowing, a smallish black dragon appeared within the runes, Malagven again began speaking to this dragon in the same language as he spoke to the fucking bird! After a short conversation, the dragon began to speak in Low Valmari which seemed rather convenient. The dragon then went on to tell us that he is an ‘Avatar Void Dragon’ and he had been imprisoned within this artefact for around 4000 years! What kind of ‘Avatar’ dragon gets imprisoned (Ivilion smirks, shakes his head and giggles). At this point, it was Tek who decided to give away my tactical position by telling me to get out of my bush, and then Zeech asked me to come over!! Bloody fools!! So here I was climbing out of my fortified bush when the dragon asks if anyone would be able to get him out of the runes, I wasn’t too fond of the idea but the dragon had seemed to win the hearts of the group and I didn’t want to let Nyx down so I took my Hempen rope from the side of my backpack, threw one end into the circle and told the dragon to grab hold of it! Perching my feet solidly onto the rock in front of me I pulled with all my might and slowly but surely I single handily pulled the dragon from its prison!! Now who else can say they saved a dragon? Now the dragon was free, he turned to Malagven and asked if he would mind ‘sparring’ with the dragon, it had been a long time since the had used any of his powers and would like to see how strong he was now, Malagven hesitantly agreed and fired off one of his eldritch blasts which ended up bouncing off the dragon’s obsidian scales, the dragon then asked if he could return an attack but Malagven implied he would surely not survive, Zeech butting in offered to take a hit for Malagven, the dragon agreed and used his powers to raise Zeech into the air and shake him about like a child with a doll, after releasing him Zeech was given some good berry by Nyx to help him get over the trauma of being helpless in the air. Once the dragon had finished with Zeech he quickly readied himself, said his thanks and goodbyes, turned and began to walk off towards the forest but tripping and stumbling as he did. (Ivilion laughs as he talks about the dragon tripping and stumbling) As this happened I had taken out one of my onions I had brought along with me and began to cut into it, reminding me of something from my child hood causing me to burst out in laughter!! The onion making my eyes water made it seem as though I was laughing at the dragon, furious about my reaction he threw me into the river nearby!! So there I was, wet, covered in what was now wet sand and I lost my fucking onion!! I fucking hate dragons!! So here I was climbing out of the river when Zeech of all people came walking up to me to push me back in, a quick sidestep and a tap on his back, Zeech was now in the river looking like a fool! And not only did he attempt to attack me he went and disturbed a couple of water elementals that were resting within the river!! Zeech strikes again!! (Ivilion shakes his head in disapproval). Everyone immediately began to fall back to keep some distance from them, One of them had got to me rather quickly after I released one of my arrows at it, Using my cunning and quick thinking I fell straight to the floor pretending to play dead to ward off its attacks, It worked for the best part until the creature stood on my leg, shattering it into tiny pieces (Ivilion looks down at his now metal peg leg) but did I scream in agony? Nope, I held it in and swallowed it down without giving fault to my deception. I heard the second monster came over shortly after to see what his comrade had done to me and I’m sure I heard what could only be described as them laughing, but I could not give my plan away! A few moments later they left going separate ways from what I could tell, Zeech managed to make his way over to me with a healing potion to ensure the break in my leg didn’t get any worse, and right he should, it was his fault he got us into this mess!! I had noticed that one of the elementals had gotten itself trapped in the same prison the dragon had gotten itself into, I managed to get myself onto my foot using my longbow which broke as I put some of my weight onto it, back on the floor and angry I sat up, took an arrow from my quiver and with fury I threw it at the elemental trapped within the runes, losing a leg wasn’t going to stop me from killing them!! Zeech straight after grabbed me from behind and dragged me from what seemed to him be the danger, even though I was totally safe, causing more damage to my leg. The other elemental had made its way to Tek who was now close enough that his crossbows could not miss, although I’m sure I saw him fire some of his bolts in completely the wrong direction, the rest hit home and it was easy to tell they did significant damage to the monster. I wasn’t able to make out who actually finished off the two elementals, all I know is that they did die. The party was now severely damaged and worn out, the sun was getting to its lowest and dark was upon us, we had to find shelter for the night or we would all surely die. Nyx again bravely went off by herself to find somewhere we could rest for the night, returning with directions to a cave, we hurried to make it there before nightfall, which was not easy seeing as I had to drag my limp leg behind me whilst using my shorts word as a fucking walking stick!! As we arrived Malagven and Nyx were there already setting up a barricade to protect us from the night, and that it did, taking the last watch nothing had happened through the night apart from Zeech snoring terribly, I’m surprised everyone else managed to sleep!!! I fucking hate snoring!! 23 rd of Quickern… Here it was a new day, and with it came a decision to either continue searching for this island or head back as some of our party members had gotten tired and wanted to return, not me though, oh no! I wanted to continue but the other insisted that we return to camp and report back what information we had gathered. Eventually, I agreed to return as I didn’t want to be a nuisance to Nyx. The only issue now was that it would take us days to return due to Zeech being injured, and well, you know, my leg being shattered an all. After a little thought, I got some rope and some provisions as well as using my longbow I crafted a pretty fine looking sled that we attached to Greysnarl to carry me back to camp, quite a smart idea if you ask me!! Now it was only Zeech who we had to worry about. Nyx found some magical berries and gave them to Zeech to help him heal his wounds slightly and then being told to pull his feather out his ass, we managed to make a swift journey back to camp within a day, arriving at camp Galv safe and sound!! But that’s enough of that story for today gentlemen, let’s leave the rest for another time eh? Hey, Johnson!! It’s your round of ale you tart!! Dont fucking ignore me Johnson!! Thats it im gonna fucking...... Ivilion Meliane
Session 78 – The Revival of Kalameet Tek Valorn; Human Fighter Lvl 2 (Chris) Malagven; Dark Elf Warlock/Sorcerer Lvl 3 (Niko) Zeech, Aarakockra, Monk Lvl 3 (Sam) Ivilion, Wood Elf, Ranger Lvl 1 (Hairy0tter) Nyx, Forest Gnome, Ranger Lvl 3 (Justine) 20 th of Quickern I met up with a elvish fellow inside the unicorn inn, Ivilion a skinny fellow, kinda small for an elf but bigger then me. Wait that's EVERYONE in haven! :) He was eating some eggs and bacon and I had heard that he was looking for work. “Hey Ivi, I heard you're looking for work. I'm heading to the Tipsy mermaid!”  “Sorry, what is you name?” Ivilion asked “Nyx!” I reply happily. He asked me about a few questions about the mission, I told him that there was some jobs available for Borian Island, a foresty area with elementals. He told me great! He likes forest they are peaceful and quiet. The jobs were at the tipsy mermaid so I encouraged him to join me. He agreed and followed even though I had to hustle him along. He insisted on swallowing down his breakfast complaining about his stubbed toe this morning, he doesn't have to worry about that anymore. I introduced him to my wolf friend Greysnarl. Greysnarl did not trust Ivilion, but I comforted him and he followed after us. Ivilion actually thought that Greysnarl was my boyfriend before they met. Kinda rude so I can understand why Greysnarl didn't like him. We arrived at the Tipsy Mermaid after me cajoling Ivilion around to get there. I told him that Greysnarl would wait outside so to hurry up and come on in. Inside I looked around. It was GREAT! Tek was already there. We worked together at the plague temple so I knew he was a good adventurer to bring along. I called out to him and introduced Ivilion to him. Then another bird/person snuck up on us and me noticing him I exclaimed, “Oh hey cool a bird. Please ta meet you, I'm Nyx Merrianti Foragess... well you get the idea.” The birdlike being was named Zeech. He was pretty cool. He commented “It's rare for someone to be shorter then me.” to Ivilion who as I said was kinda small for an elf. I replied happily “I'm always shorter then everyone!” We chatted for a bit and was joined by another elf named Malagven and we started discussing which mission to undertake. Tek mentioned that we were going to look for some missing explorers who never returned! And exploring an area on the island that had no life. Ivilion started to have cold feet about the mission and we had to convince him that we would be smarter then the previous group and that there were skilled people coming. Tek was joking and told me to keep my pets in line. I laughed as I do not own any pets. Ivilion was upset as being referred to as my pet and said so. Tek winked, smiled and walked away. At this point we decided to get ready and head off for our adventuring mission, there was one problem before we left. The ship captain refused to let Greysnarl on his ship the Windweaver. Which was silly I mean it was not like he was going to eat any of them. He also didn't believe that I could talk to wolves. I mean they don't always listen especially if they are trained enemies but Greysnarl is not like he may not like ships but what was he going to do burn it? Anyways the rest of the party backed me and Greysnarl up and we convinced the captain to take us all. Stupid captain said that they would throw Greysnarl off the ship if he caused trouble! THE BRUTE! But we were on our way finally after paying 3 GP to the silly superstitious captain. The salt air was refreshing, Greysnarl was a little sick. Wolves are not sea travelers as I was helping by the side of the deck. I turn to look out at sea when I see it a human sized girl swimming next to the ship. I smile happily as I wave to her. “Hello, how's it going?” It was the first time that I had seen an underwater human. I didn't know that humans could live underwater. The underwater being realized that I could see her and she swam off. Ivilion and the others asked what I was doing, apparently they did not see her. Zeech asked if I was crazy? I was offended how could they not have seen her. Was my smile and wave that scary that she ran off. Looking at the seas again I was trying to catch sight of her. I couldn't see her again but a male underwater human I located next. This time to prove that I was not crazy I pointed it out to the others and they saw this underwater human on the other side of the ship. Malagven looked like he was trying to talk to it and I called out hello and waved at it again. This one did not run off unlike the other one did but followed us for a time. I went back to looking after Greysnarl. It was a shame that the underwater humans were not very friendly unfortunately I would have liked to talk to them longer. The rest of the trip to Camp Galv was quiet and it looks like not all our companions, Ivilion, was happy with sea travel. So we were glad muchly to be on firm ground again. Malagven went off to talk to the captain about our mission. He told us after the captain talk that we were looking for an island to the south west that the other party sent did not return from. Again Ivilion got nervous but we calmed him down. We also saw that there was a new island that appeared near town recently. The captain didn't think that we would return with everyone. Why was everyone so doubt filled about our chances? Were they really that bad? There should have been other cases of parties returning without losing anyone right? Right! Anyways we decided to get a move on and headed from camp towards the southwest with me directing the path from the back of our line. As this was a new area for me and we told Ivilion that we would be smarter, so we sneakily made our way over the forest landscape. Well we tried to be sneaky but for some reason Ivilion stubbed his toe again, muttered, got clothing stuck in bushed and made a lot of noise. At one point he tripped and fell on his face and cursed! So we were not as stealthy as we could have been. We went through the forests without problems surprisingly. I was collecting some food as we passed by, Greysnarl occasionally ran off to catch himself a rabbit or two. As we made our way Tek? and Greysnarl noticed something under a nearby bush, nudging me over. “What is it?” I asked but he could not recognize the smell. He did give the impression of something under the ground. We all readied actions and then the earth rose in the distance with dark green eyes as it approached the group. Malagven and Ivilion shot at it the second it appeared. Malagven hit it with a blast of energy before seeing what it was. Which Malagven seemed to regret a second later. Ivilion missed completely. Malagven approached the elemental saying sorry for his attack and asked to talk. Apparently Humans had attacked before and that humans were bad. As we only had 1 actual human in the group Malagven convinced it that we were not the same humans that attacked and did not mean it harm. The earth being's eyes turned light as relaxed or not longer advanced. Malagven talked to him a bit more when Tec told him to mention that they talked to the Green Lady. I can only assume that the elemental did not like that as his eyes turned black and went into the ground once more. We scrambled to our battle positions and got ourselves ready. Well most of us did. Ivilion climbed a tree, and he did shoot I guess don't remember if he hit anything though. Anyways the earth pulled out and smacked at Tec before disappearing into the ground. We all took shots at it before it went underground, once more. After shooting I decided to sense what else might still be in the area and found out about dragons being in the area as well. The next time Earthy appeared it went after the tree that Ivilion was sitting in breaking the tree in two and sending it crashing to the ground almost hitting Zeech, who was nearby, as an Ivilion was slammed out of the tree and plopped onto the ground. I hope he didn't hit his head again. The earthy elemental went into the ground again. Zeech and Tech arranged their position away from the tree as Ivilion attempted to scramble up a series of boulder, failing fell on his head as he slipped from the boulders, as Malagven waited for the Earthy to reemerge once more. I had found myself with Greysnarl behind some bush cover and proceeded to shoot at Earthy when it appeared again. As did the rest of the group except poor Ivilion, who was falling off a boulder. Does that guy have a curse or something? This time it went after Malagven hitting him solidly as he winced in pain. We again proceeded to attack as Earthy disappeared again. This time it came after me but the swing was way too slow but Greysnarl was able to take a piece out of it as it went underground once more, Malagven taking time to down some potions into him. The elemental disappeared for a while as I had Greysnarl move us away. When it appeared again it went after Zeech but we were ready for it. We struck it down as it appeared and it finally crumbled and stopped moving. Inside Tek found and recovered some silver ore and I took a small piece of Earthy for a trophy. I made some really good berries and passed them to Ivilion. And we continued to a island on that was to the southwest but it was starting to become late. Ivilion, Tek, Greysnarl and me looked for a place to camp. We discovered 2 places that would serve our needs a desert area and a cave that headed deeper but there was a way to block it off. We voted and selected the desert area. Ivilion chose his vote by dice, a very Dicey decision? Hey that was funny! The desert was softer then a hard rock cave. I went and collected enough food for the group while the rest set up camp. After munching on foraged/hunter items, we decided on the watches and then slept for the night. During the last watch Ivilion woke us up calling “Dragon!” I looked around and a small bird appeared. The other members were complaining about not being able to get sleep and why he has upset about a bird. Ivilion was upset that his warning ended up being for Bird Bird, who he tried to shoo way. Bird Bird Looked Like a raven. I heades over to talk to the bird as I've done many times over and it chittered back in an unusual voice. This was new, and caught Malagven's attention as he could understand the bird who he said was speaking Draconic. I fed the bird leftover berries that I had scavenged for dinner. Which it picked through for the best berries. It talked about a dragon that could not fly or walk, it kept repeating Bird Bird, no dragon bird bird fly dragon no. It took off at this point circled and landed. It was an awesome Bird Bird. Really odd that I could not talk to it though. I offered it a gold piece and more berries which it at and then grabbed the gold piece. I told him that it was his and he flew away with it after sitting next to Malagven for a bit. It wanted us to follow it, but the others refused to leave until morning. Ivilion refuse to listed to it at all saying that it stole my gold and it was a dragon as it spoke Draconic. I tried to reason that if that was the reason he thought so then it would mean that Malagven was a dragon as well because he could speak it too. Ivilion gave Malagven a distrustful look as if he was also a dragon. Eventually we made it through the night. The next day we gathered up our campsite and headed back through the forest heading to the southwest. There was a larger desert area that we needed to cross to continue west and I made sure that we refilled our water-skins before heading across. As we walked the wind picked up. As it continued to build I could tell that a sandstorm was quickly approaching, I've traveled deserts before so knew that we had no time to continue or make it to the forest. “Sandstorm!” I warned as I took cover on the ground nearby with Greysnarl, covering his head with a spare shirt, and burying my face into my sleeve. I look around to see the others discussing what to do. “Stupid! There is no time take cover.” This time they listened and took cover near me and Greysnarl. After the sandstorm passed, we looked around and found that we were in a different place from where we first took cover. Very Nunnatural! Zeech flew up to gain our bearings and said that he saw no island where we were told it should be. We continued the journey and towards the end of the day, we came across a large stone ball with what Malagven said were runes around them. He took time examining the runes and the ball after a while he told us that he was able to make out one side was “The Void is Free.” and on the other side “Here Lies The Black Shackle.” We didn't see anything else nearby so me and Greysnarl started looking at the ball as it did not move yet there was nothing I saw to keep it in place. Me and Greysnarl walked around the thing, Greysnarl stepped on a rune which caused the ring of runes around the ball to start to glow green as the stone ball started to crack. We all backed away from the thing as it broke apart, with Ivilion, myself and Greysnarl taking cover by some bushes. What appeared from the inside was a little black dragon. Hey a Dragon! Not a huge one but it was still towered over the taller the elves and humans in our group. We all approached except Ivilion who tried to stay hidden in the bush. Tec kept asking him to come out, but he stayed hidden. Malagven started to talk to him in what I think was Draconic but the dragon soon switched to our common tongue. It turns out that he was the black shackle and his name was Kalameet. He was in charge of the Void Elementals. He thought that the year was from 4000 years ago and was not aware that he had been gone for all that time, also he was not aware that the void elementals had gone out of control. He also said that it would take 2 millennia to regain his power. We asked him about the island that we were searching for, to which he replied there was no island. We also asked him about another dragon and the Bird Bird. He was not aware of any other dragons or what Bird Bird was. He then requested aid in getting out of the runes that still surrounded him. Not sure if we should trust him, we considered but Zeech vouched for him. He payed Ivilion 30 gold pieces to get the dragon out of the area. Ivilion finally came out of the bushes and threw his rope to Kalameet. Kalameet bit hard into the rope. I asked Greysnarl to give them a hand and he grabbed the rope behind Zeech as the three of them pulled the dragon out of the rune circle. The dragon complemented Ivilion on his strength. We asked if he would be okay and if he wanted to accompany us. He wanted to test his strength and asked to spar with Malagven. Malagven agreed if it would be a mental battle. He fired magic at Kalameet which did nothing. Then it was his turn but Malagven suggested a sturdier target and Zeech volunteered. Ivilion laughed and pointed as Zeech a bird/person was being thrown around in the air like a ragdoll. I couldn't help a little chuckle myself. After Zeech was forcefully dropped onto the ground Kalameet concluded that he would be fine. I could see that the fall hurt Zeech so I offered him some very good berries. Kalameet thought that we came to find him, and asked for the location of his tomb. We told him that we just happened upon him and did not know where his tomb was. Surprised he thanked us and started to walk away, then attempted to fly. I'm told that this was an aura level 2 area so he was unable to get in the air, and came back down to a rest on the ground. Ivilion tried to stop himself but couldn't help but laugh at Kalameet, who gave him a displeased look and proceeded to throw him into a nearby pond, as he had mentally tossed Zeech around, before continuing on his way. Ivilion got out of the water complaining about wet sand in his pants and looked miserable. Zeech playfully tried to push him back into the water with me asking what kind of ranger he was if he was uncomfortable with birds, trees, sand and water. Ivilion sidestepped Zeech and pushed him into the water. They continued their water play while me, Tek, and Greysnarl refilled our waterskins from pond. As we left the pond, 2 water elementals appeared near the far edge of the pond. We all scrambled out of the water and headed to the desert area with the monument. Zeech and Ivilion did not move very far though so that they could attack. The water elementals rushed all over Zeech so you could not see him and damaged him as he tried to run further. Malagven shot at them as did Tec but the shots from Tec went wide. Ivilion tried to shoot his bow instead of running further. Zeech ran up to me as I had climbed on Greysnarl and asked him to Run! He asked me not to leave but I had already told Greysnarl to run. Then Ivilion was attacked by both elementals dropping him almost immediately. One of them was able to make it to Zeech. I tried to attack it so that it would target me but there was suddenly a darkness that covered the area and lost sight of Ivilion, Zeech and the 2 Elementals. Malagven and Tek continued to attack from range, but when the darkness cleared Zeech was also on the ground and the 2 elementals still stood. I attacked the nearest one with my bow to force it into the runes that held Kalameet. It worked charging at me into the barrier. The one elemental left outside targeted Tec and Malagven and Tec finished it off. While this happened I rushed to Zeech's side with Greysnarl's help as I could not make it to Ivilion. I opened the scroll I got from the plague temple and cast cure wounds on Zeech to get him up. He looked around and seeing Ivilion down ran straight at him with a healing potion in hand. While Ivilion was up the condition of his leg was horrible. I had no time to think about it then as me Tec and Malagven finished off the elementals. I gave them some more very good berries but there was nothing I could do about the leg. Apparently Ivilion also lost his bow in the battle but was able to get it fixed when we got back to Haven. We hurriedly made camp for the night, but had no further encounters and it gave us time to under Ivilion's direction assemble a sled that he could be pulled on. Convincing Greysnarl to do this was a bit of a challenge and I had to reassure him constantly as we made our way back to camp. Bird Bird arrived before we left and told us to come north he would guide us. Help dragon. But the rest of the party thought that with a group member with a missing leg it would be best to return to haven as soon as possible. Malagven asked the bird if he could help with the leg and it pecked Ivilions leg who screamed at the poor thing. We made it back to Camp Galv in one day. The one disturbing thing was something Greysnarl told me was that the area east of us smelled of blood and there was an odd mist to it. I looked and it seemed red to me. But we were not in that area but it was an odd phenomena. When we got back The captain surprisingly only had 4 bags of gold prepared. Is this place really that dangerous? Ivilion's leg could not be saved but he was hoping that someone on Haven maybe the Unicorns could help him. So we went back to haven and unfortunately he had to get a peg leg made for him. He is working on moving with it now. Nyx Merrianti Foragess Weasley Brandybottom Oakenseeker Brooksholme Ashhearth Of The Unicorns Edited Heavily By: Von of the Blue Sashes Drawing of Kalameet (15)

Session 80: (Burn Baby Burn) Forest Inferno Jewels Baddarok; Mountain Dwarf Barbarian, lvl 1 (Zilarrezko) Eryn; Wood elf Rogue, lvl 2 (kanelives) Boris; Half-Orc Barbarian/Monk, lvl 4 (Seraphina) Gaxx; Half-Orc Barbarian/Rogue, lvl 3 (Niko) Bort; Goliath Fighter, lvl 2 (Hairy0tter) Shadow Starr; Elf Bard, lvl 1 (Justine) Dear Iron Fists Captain I hope you is feeling alright, that was quite the party we threw last night. By the way, was that you in my tent making Boris bark like a dog while you were, well you know? Not judging or owt. I had me own hands and more full after all. Anyway, was told that you guys like getting written reports before we gets payed so I am writing this letter to tell you what we found on our trek in the islands. Miss Shadow, our elven songstress, is helping me with the spelling. Ok best with first things first right, as me dear old mum used to say. After spending our first night in your camp we set off in the morning. Shadow were glad of it cos she said that some weird creepy woman's voice had tried to tempt her into that inn you all say is haunted, no one else heard it though, or atleast admitted to hearing it. I didn't hear it but I belives her. We went south along the old road for a day, coming across a nasty sight just before sun down. It were the body of a massive ogre and he'd been ripped apart all right, bits everywhere. I had to put them back together like a jigsaw before I could tell it were an ogre even. A trail of blood were leading to the south east from it and we thought it was best not to follow that and carried on along the road until it was too dark. We came off the road a little to set up camp. We had barely started sleeping and I was on first watch when a bloody great green monster came creeping up on us in the bushes. Luckily I heard the fucker and told it to take a hike but instead he come on and attacked us. So we smashed it to bits, Boris, Gaxx, Bort and me. Shadow shouted some encouragement as she does and that other elf lass Eryn, fucking trouble maker that one but I'll get to that later, flung a few arrows at it. Luckily for us I remembered my lore, my granda lost an arm to a pair of trolls afterall and always told us the stories at dinner time. The trick is you see to burn them with fire so that they cant heal themselves. I heard once acid works too but what idiot is going have a load of that stuff and not any way to make fire. Anyways no sooner had we killed it than another comes lumbering up out of the woods and babbling in it's weird Giantish language. Apparantly we had killed 'bob' and he was gonna tell his master on us. The blooming cheek! He weren't joking on though, we surrounded the bloody salad monster and almost had him killed when three more of his pals turn up and this really old human fella named Turian. He only spoke Posh so only Shadow could understand him but he said he'd take his trolls and leave us if we stopped our attacks. Didn't fancy taking on four trolls and him at once so we agreed to the truce and he kept his word. Even went and gave Shadow a fancy platinum ring. I told her not to wear it though, old wizard type with a gaggle of trolls that have actual folks name, I'm thinking they was actual folks once too you know? After that the night was pretty peaceful and nothing else nasty happened to us so we got a good rest. I spent a little while in the light of day gathering some food for the party so's we wouldn't have to use us rations up while Gaxx did a little bit of tracking and found the trail the troll band had took. They'd also went off south east, like whatever had did in that ogre. That kind of encouraged everyone to keep heading direct south and keep our distance so we did that. After the crossroads where the high way splits east and west we entered into a deep forest. It were not a nice forest, the further we got into it the more of these horrible enormous spider webs we saw hanging between and in the trees. Come across a load of dead animals too. They was intact, unlike that ogre, only mar were a couple of little puncture marks. We skinned a couple, no sense letting go to waste yeah? And backed out to make camp on the forest edge. I were dead to the world that night, not literal of course, just was really tired and didn't take a watch so I missed out on the big hullabaloo. Nothing come at us though, it was just that in the wee hours before dawn, when its a bit light but there aint the sun yet Shadow spotted a bloody great big dragon. She said it was a bright red one with enormous wings and was blasting gouts of fire as it flew past. No one thought to wake me up for a look, the buggers, so I can't tell you if it were true or not, but I've not had reason to doubt her yet so I'm inclined to say it happened. After I did wake up and cooked a breakfast of game and berries we went back into that nasty forest with the webs, only skirting the edge mind and keeping an eye out for more pelts for us to take and we did get a good few. This is when things got bad right, towards the evening a bloody great fire started up and spread like, well a wild fire, it were a massive inferno in no time. We'd lost sight of Eryn and were too busy pelting it out of the forest at the time. We got to safety though and stopped to make camp, and the lass turned up quick enough. The fire was keeping the night almost as bright as a cloudy day until out of nowhere a massive swirling wind comes, a bloody tornado! It blows the fires out and then dissapears off as quick as it came. I looks to Eryn I did and said "If you set that fire, looks like you've pissed off something well powerful" She tried to deny it, lieing through her pretty teeth hard enough that she almost had us convinced of it, but then a magical pixie popped out from the trees and squeaked out that we was in trouble for setting Drusilla's forest on fire. So yeah, even if it were a bloody fey that confirmed our suspicions. It was an awkward conversation though, the pixie was only speaking in a language that Shadow could translate again, at least at first. So long story short, Drusilla is a fuck-off powerful druid woman who heads a pack of more than thirty wolves too, one of which breathes fucking ice! I asks if Drusilla will be satisfied if we had over the culprit, I'm not gonna take the blame when this bint can lob tornados around, you know? They're not sure, depends how mean the woman's feeling, so I guess it's worth a try and goes and surprises Eryn. Tieing her up so she cant run off and leave us in the shit. Gaxx were on my side but Boris weren't having none of it and comes along and cuts my rope to ribbons, the silly git, saying we're not going to turn her over and wants to hear the Pixie's offer. The Pixie tells us that she wants to take us their kingdom to shelter. The same one all them ambassadors has dissapeared in you remember, so Boris is having none of that either and neither is me and anyone else. Though Eryn and Shadow almost did go with her into a magical tree portal. We're gonna stay put and try and talk usselves out of it. Gaxx doesn't want to take that chance and so packs up in a rush and leaves us, sneaking off into the night. I thought that were the last we'd ever see of him if we made it through but, well, world is fucking full of surprises, eh? It was a nervous wait it was, listening to the howls of them wolves as they got closer and closer. Kind of wish we'd risked hoofing it through the night but it was too late then. I tie up Eryn again while she's asleep, which gives me some ideas it does but that's for another time. This time Boris is fine with it, realising the bugger might well have left us in the lurch to face whatever were coming, and it turned out that fairy hadn't lied. A great horde of wolves comes and surrounds us, one as big as a draft horse and then out of the darkness come Drusilla herself. She were inclined to be mean. She said we was all to die in punishment for disturbing the balance of the forest. Bort tries to blame the bloody pixies for it but she saw right through that so then there's me trying to explain that it weren't us at all, only one person did it and they done it without us leave. I'm not proud of dipping Eryn in it, but I ain't ashamed, she'd been told before the fire not to disturb the place, and we was only afraid of spiders then, not this druid bitch. But she went ahead and put us all at risk, lied about it, and expected us to defend her? No way. It started to feel like we were getting through to her then, Drusilla that is. She accepted that it were Eryn alone that had done the fire and that we had no part in it, but said we all still had to pay cos we was guilty by association. Poor dim old Boris lost his temper then and went on a sweary verbal rampage at the druid and unsurprisingly she blew her top and set her big bad wolf on us. I'll never forget feeling that things breath, every part of me got frozen and clothes were nay protection for that cold. Felt like my eyes were gonna shatter but luckily I just held on. Then Drusilla called down and this is no lie, a bloody stroke of lightning. It ripped into Eryn something awful and left the girl sizzling and spasming on the ground. After seeing that, Boris' temper went back on a simmer you know, and he got all humble like. Not that I can blame him. It was pleading time and no mistake else we was all gonna die, no question at all about that. A bit more begging and Drusilla was prepared to be believe we weren't responsible for Eryn if we took it on ourselves to finish the poor lass off. Bort bless his dumb self gave her a good whack but despite it all the lass was still hanging in there. I stepped up and tried to appeal that we leave it at that but Drusilla would have either blood or lots of blood so I finished the girl. I'm not proud of it I'll own, but it were her or it were us and it were her that had brought this down on us afterall. Oh but were that the end of it? Fuck no, of course not! Drusilla still wanted us punished somehow, the probably literal bitch. First she cast some kind of spell on Eryn's corpse and turned it into a bunch of flowers and a live actual rabbit! Then she bade us agree under magic spell to find out where the pixies live and come back and tell her, within six moons, or else she's still kill us all. Fuck knows what'll happen if we don't do it, probably drop another one of them lightnings on us or something. Can you guess what she wants to do with that information by the way? That's right, kill all of pixies! Mind you I wasn't too bothered about that since those fey also can be nasty buggers, but one of them turned up at the party last night and she were a good sort deep down I think so I dont think we should wipe them ALL out. Anyway, after agreeing under threat of death to her terms we were allowed a nice rest and then beat it back here to the camp in good time. Only two days it took us, and you can be sure I'm keeping a careful eye on that calendar now! We managed to avoid any more nasty surprises too this time so that were good. Losing Eryn were a bit sad it was, in a way, but we was all just so glad to be alive we had to celebrate. Cooking and drinking comes naturally to me so as you know it was simple to get things in motion. By the way you might be glad that that pixie woman, Erika Thistledown, popped in to visit that night, she told us that the "big family of ghosts" that live in the Inn, well they've spread down into the sewers now since whatever were there before no longer is. Might want to look into that, pal. I can't really think of anything more to add and my head is starting to bang like you wouldn't believe, probably more all this bloody writing stuff down than the hangover I'll bet so that's me done. All reported and stuff. We'll see each other again soon enough so take care ok? Signed, Jewels Baddarok

Session 80: An Ode to the Forest of Fae Ilse Present: Jewels Baddarok; Mountain Dwarf Barbarian, lvl 1 (Zilarrezko) Eryn; Wood elf Rogue, lvl 2 (kanelives) Boris; Half-Orc Barbarian/Monk, lvl 4 (Seraphina) Gaxx; Half-Orc Barbarian/Rogue, lvl 3 (Niko) Bort; Goliath Fighter, lvl 2 (Hairy0tter) Shadow Starr; Elf Bard, lvl 1 (Justine) Done to a similar tune All gathered were free, As any could be, How rich was the lands, Flowed of mist bands, Exploration to be, A Fae land as fair, And dangerous could be, Upon Drucilla's Lair. A lone Shadow bard, With a tale to tell! Of Fierce and Wise Jewel, A dwarf who knew Rule. Of Bort simple and dumb, For strength he's the Bomb! Of Gaxx Instinctive and Proud, Of Boris Caring and Loud, Both filled with Rage, That anyone could gauge. And Poor Eryn whose Flare, Rightly made her a Hare, Her's ideals were flawed, And thus was mauled. A long boat's trip, To the Fae Isle. To rest at the camp's tip. The haunted tavern's ghosts we did not rile! At night the ghostly voice summons. Heed not or you may soil your cottons. Our fast broke over eggs and bacon. And south on the road, Was the path our feet were taken. We made good time with nothing to goad. Off the path did we finally make camp. Grateful were we that there was nothing too damp. Soon after bed, loud noises were creeping “Fuck Off!!!” Jewel called, “We are Sleeping!' A troll ran up, refusing to be cowed. Little did he know our fighters are proud! Strike after Strike! Went Boris, Gaxx and Bort. Shot after shot Eryn did spike. Javelin's throw after throw was Jewel's retort. Shadow made plenty of Cheers, And just as many of the Jeers. Down went Bob the Troll, All under our control. Another troll suddenly appears, Calling something to it's peers. Another round of battle ensued. Our party almost took out Troll two. Another 3 trolls quickly appeared A number sure to be feared. A man named Turian called a cease fire, It was in High Valkyrie that only Shadow knew, So became an event only she could inspire, Thankfully the party took the cue, And another troll avoided the Pyre. A ring gift to Shadow Turian Imbued. Yet the party's jeers were still pretty lewd. The man Turian and trolls retreated. We returned to the sleep that was really needed. We awoke with the morning sun. Ready to continue our exploring run. To the South we still headed, And found some dead animals, Whose pelts could be mended, Soon the group became close pals. Night now approaches, Our outlanders found us some food, And filled out pouches. That left us all in a really good mood. Watches were set, And down we went to bed. To avoid any sleep debt, And our limbs becoming lead. During very late that night, Those awake saw a great sight. A Majestic Dragon of Red, Flying far overhead. Fire sprayed from it's maw. A sight that inspires great awe. And before the light shone, It was quickly gone. We continued to explore. And among thick webs in the forest, Were animals that were not alive anymore. Getting them free was such a pest, But such a waste it was to leave them at rest, And collected pelt to add to our fee, But we stayed on the forest path, The giant spiders we did not want to see, Hoping to avoid their sticky wrath. But Eryn, Poor Eryn wanted to see, The webby forest burning brightly. The party sopped this reckless though, Eryn agreed, and the claim was bought, Tired and weary we looked for a camp trail, But what did we witness? When we left the webbed forest? A missing Eryn and a fire on our tail. It was all such a horrible mess. Oh but our wayward Elf was truly a Pest. On and on we ran, Away from the blaze, Not caring at all that we were down a woman. For at this point we were all in a Daze. How epic became this tale. To the south came a savior, As a tornado began to sail, Contrary to it's normal behavior. It blew the fire all away. And we could finally call it a day. A camp was made as we all felt blue, And Eryn arrived soon with a halt. Fast and sharp accusations soon flew, With her claiming the fire was not her fault. A cheerful laugh filled out ears, Soon we beheld a little Pixie, “You upset mean Drucilla!” She laughed nearly in tears. “You're in Big trouble!” She announced seeming Tricksie. Of the druidess Drucilla, we were told. And her wolves who numbered thirty one. Pixie offered aid before the events were to unfold, To take us away, our encounter done. A tale of the past that none return. From the land of the fae, a mystical lure. As eryn was responsible for the burn, Most of the party refused the tour. “Don't split the party.” I adventurer's rule one. Gaxx didn't care and ran on ahead. Our exhaustion was bad, our eyes weighed a ton. The rest of us headed to bed. Jewel, Wise Jewel, had Eryn trussed. Something we all felt was a must. We awoke surrounded by a pack! Wolves! The Pixie spoke true. The Druidess and Wolves all had out back. And crude Bort angry spoke with a rue. After a fight that we knew we would lose. Drucilla held back and asked us to choose. Kill the dying Eryn with our own hands, Or be killed for burning the lands. Bort did the deed. Drucilla was pleased. Still she insisted on a boon. To spare us under this moon. To find her the lands of the Fae. We had no choice but to obey. In respect for Boris' feelings toward a friend, Eryns body began to bend. And dead Eryn became Boris's male bunny. Something that Shadow really felt funny. A party was held back at the Iron Fist camp. Even Pixie Erika Thistledown attended the affair. While Jewel, Bag headed Boris and four others had a good Bump. We were determined to find out the lair. What happens next will truly set sail! But that will all be a time for another tale. Shadow Starr A Bard of the Blue Sashes.

Session 81: Into The Basilisks' Lair Hydlian, Dwarf Cleric - LVL 1 (Clarence) Fletcher Railegshai, Human Ranger, LVL 2 (Ernie) Malagven, Dark Elf Warlock/Sorcerer - LVL 3 (Niko) Weasel, Human (Variant) Rogue - LVL 2(Sander) Semortis, Human, Fighter LVL 1 (Sam) Tanin, Human, Cleric LVL 3 (Marco) Thorin Strongoak, Dwarf, Druid LVL 1 (Alice B.) --- (Report written in Dwarfish language. Some of the words in the report have fallen out of use or are rather old-fashioned) Report of the 30th of Quickern written by the hand of Hydlian Greyshadow, By my honor as a dwarf of the house of Stonedeep, I swear that this expedition was formed by the following companions: Thorin Strongoak, Fletcher Railegshai, Malagven, Weasel, Semortis, Tanin and myself. We were assigned the clearing of a nest of Basilisks in the cave system of the Makra area. For this we prepared by bringing along specially polished shields and mirrors to combat the petrifying gazes of the creatures. We quickly set off and crossed the portal to Makra. After exchanging some words with the lady there, we entered the cave system. We followed the lead of master Railegshai, who despite his apparent competence took us in the wrong direction toward the north, northeast. After a few hours of travel, I am ashamed to say that we were not being a quiet as we should have been. Our loud voices attracted the attention of a pair of owlbears and we were suddenly engaged in battle. The party showed courage in facing the large beasts; a barrage of coordinated attacks was enough to bring them down and, after the battle, we came across a wall that clearly seemed to be artificially made. I am grateful for my racial heritage that allowed me to appreciate its elven design. I suspect that the wall and adjoining corridor might be hiding something, but we didn't have the chance to explore further. A few of the party members managed to convince master Railegshai that we were going in the wrong direction and we started heading toward the southwest instead. We travelled in that direction for a few hours. Tired after a long day walking and fighting, we started looking for a safe place to rest. Despite my recommendations against it, the party decided to camp in a small dead-end corridor with only one escape route. Master Railegshai decided to open up a small hole in the wall with a pickaxe to place a lantern in. I tried to advice him against it, but he seemed intent on this self-imposed mission. Any dwarf could have guessed what happened next; the sound created by the pickaxe reverberated far throughout the cave system, alerting anyone and anything of our presence in the area. Nevertheless, and despite my continued warnings, we stayed in that place and set up some watches. On the second watch we were rudely awakened by a squad of what I now have learned are called stirges. I include the following information in the hopes of increasing the White Horses’ knowledge of these creatures and help future adventurers: These creatures look like mosquitoes, but they are not quite as harmless. Their attack pattern consists of a swarm formation. They will group up and surround a target. Then, they will try to bite and attach themselves to their prey, proceeding to drain them it of its life force. An adventurer who finds himself or herself in in the above described situation might be well advised to adopt a defensive posture while the rest of the party brings the beasties down. Master Strongoak created some detailed drawings of these flying monstrosities that I have attached to this report. The stirges surrounded master Malagven, who assumed a defensive stance. The party reacted quickly and was able to synchronize their attacks and bring down several of the creatures. However, we weren’t able to prevent two of them from attaching themselves to master Railegshai. The ranger quickly improvised by punching and slashing himself to get rid of the creatures, almost killing himself in the process. His actions were reckless but, I must admit, effective. Greatly diminished in number, the rest of the creatures proved to be no match for our combined forces. We eventually completed our rest. With fresh spells and refreshed minds, we set off toward the basilisks' lair. We travelled for a few hours until we reached a new cave system. Here we started hearing hissing noises reminiscent of the beasts we sought. This is where master Railegshai showed a great deal of leadership as he instructed the party to fall into formation and keep quiet. Coordinated and ready for battle, we moved deeper into the creatures' den. To prevent an attack from our rear, we dropped some caltrops behind us, making sure to leave a free path in case our group needed to retreat. We entered a narrow corridor and advanced carefully. The hissing intensified as we approached a turn in the tunnel and everyone stopped and got ready to attack. We decided for one of us to throw a dart to bait the creatures into an ambush. Success! The dart's clink against the wall attracted the creatures' attention and we heard steps coming our way. And suddenly the beasts appeared. Several grown basilisks fell right into our ambush and the party unleashed blessed attacks upon them. We dealt great initial damage to their ranks, but it wasn't enough. Master Strongoak fell instantly, though luckily I was able to drag him out of harm's way and stabilize him. The creatures kept coming and pushed us back the way we came, disrupting our ranks and forcing us to retreat. The mirrors and polished shields we had brought proved to be of great use as we turned the beasts' gaze attacks against themselves, allowing us to somehow hold the line and even start turning one of the creatures into stone. But then *she* appeared. The mother of the basilisks, a giant and fine specimen which was, with reason, ill-disposed to our party's assault on her lair. We started retreating whilst trying to keep our formation, but were quickly dealt a devastating blow when Master Tanin fell unconscious to the fearful monster's massive assault. I was NOT about to let a companion die. Not again! However, I had used up all my spells. How could I heal without my magic? And then I remembered. One of the party had given me a magical healing berry at the start of the expedition. That would have to do.  I approached the place where Tanin lied down surrounded by hungry basilisks; with some effort I was able to force a berry down his throat. As Master Tanin's started to regain consciousness and open his eyes, the Basilisk Mother's claws ripped into my chest. I fell forwards, my hand on the fresh wound, the immense pain preventing me from breathing. As my vision slowly darkened, I smiled. I had given my companions another chance to run with their lives intact. That would have to be enough. Death, however, didn't seem as willing as I was to meet. I felt a warm and embracing wave of power course through my veins, and I knew Master Tanin was healing me. The fools were trying to save me! Didn't they see our situation was dire? I bid them to escape. At that moment I believed my life was over, but I hadn’t counted with the tenacity of my companions. Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to do anything with the second life granted to me, as the beasts didn't cease their constant assault and again dealt me a heavy wound. What cruel gods, to bring me back to life only to take it from my grasp one more time! Yet again I lost consciousness of the world around me. I woke up to a potion being poured down my throat. At once I felt renewed vigor as the liquid spread through my weakened body. As I regained my vision, I recognized master Railegshai, who had come back to administer the potion. I was grateful, but worried that his actions might have cost him his life. Yet again the beasts' fierce assault downed me and yet again I fell unconscious. Was I cursed to die and come back alive for the rest of eternity? I was later told that Master Railegshai started dragging my body out of the reach of the basilisks with great risk to his own life. The beasts immediately took advantage of his precarious position and he was taken down as well next to me. Master Tanin, who had already healed me once, called upon his clerical might and was able to bring both Master Railegshai and I back to life. Yet again I had avoided death by a hair's width. I should mention at this point that the rest of the party hadn't remained passive while all of this was happening. Master Malagven, Master Strongoak, Master Weasel and Master Semortis had succeeded at retreating a safe distance from the heat of the fight and had been constantly providing support with their spells and ranged weapons. Some of the basilisks had already been downed by their assault, and there were just two little ones and the mother left. For a fourth and last time, I was brought down. This time the Basilisk Mother started dragging my unconscious body back to her lair, but a quick reaction and precise shot from Master Semortis hurt the beast so severely that it dropped my body and started running away. Master Railegshai again showed quick wits and ignited fires that further scattered and scared the savage beasts away from my fallen body. The Basilisk Mother, weakened and bleeding, was given a heavy blow and fell dead to the ground. Her remaining baby ran away into the darkness. With the rest of the basilisks running away, my companions were able to help me back to my feet. I was overcome with emotion at the selflessness of these men. These men who I had met a mere day ago! Men who had put themselves in mortal danger just to save my life not once but four times! They saw that dwarves are slow to warm to others, but these companions have earned my loyalty.  Exhausted and spent, we made a makeshift litter to carry the Mother, the proof of our feat. We had barely made any progress when we met with two gnomes who kindly offered to escort us back to their settlement, which I have since learned the White Horses are already familiar with, and therefore I shall not describe it. There we were able to rest for a night. In the morning everyone was feeling much better and so we departed with renewed spirits. We eventually left the caves and that's where this report should end. However, I would like to note down a few observations and notes that might be of interest to the Horses: As we traversed through the cave system, Master Strongoak and I were able to observe the local vegetation. It seems as if the caves' conditions are propitious to the growing of unique species of mushrooms. We have have taken samples and drawings of several of the specimens and are interested in researching them further and making a small compendium to help any would-be cave explorer. Would the White Horses be interested in sponsoring such an undertaking? We would merely require a laboratory to test the samples as well as access to a library and a small amount of gold to buy the necessary materials (book, parchment, ink and so on). I realise that you restrict access of your facilities to those not belonging to the company, so I would like to formally request membership to it. Master Fletcher proved at times to be unreliable, at other times to be reckless. Yet he was able to improvise under pressure and proved that he has the potential to lead. With the proper training and guidance, I firmly believe that this man is destined for great things. Tanin has proven that his faith, and therefore his power, is strong. I saved his life and he repaid me twice with mine. I was fortunate to have him fighting by my side. As for Semortis, Weasel and Malagven, we wouldn't have been able to bring the beasts down without their constant assault. They did not run away when they had the chance but rather stayed to keep fighting. And that is more than could be said about others. This report is hereby signed by Hydlian Greyshadow of the Stonedeep House, May Gorion guide your steps,

Session 82: Who turned out the lights? Players: Lux, Human Rogue lvl 4 (Taleek) Kaar, Dragonborn Paladin lvl 5 (Thai) Nyx, Forest Gnome Ranger Lvl 3, (Justine) Barnaball, Deep Dragonborn Paladin lvl 1 (ilikestuff) Utiprak Ekru, Human Warlock lvl 2 (luchie) Aineasal, High Elf Wizard, Lvl 1 (Hairy0tter) To whoever the hell is paying me Yeah so I wasn't exactly expecting to write anything but...the guy that was supposed to got killed so I figured I should be the one to write about what exactly went down in the mines so I suppose i'll start from the beginning. You all know how it started in a tavern of course where you almost always can find an opportunity to snag some quick gold from whatever job is posted on the board that needs doin'. I honestly wasn't looking for work I had just gotten back from other business and I just wanted to unwind and drink something strong until the darkness took me..but instead of that I hear a very loud Dragonborn within and the first person that popped into my mind was Kaar the Paladin, and just as I had thought the Golden Dragonborn was there talking with a purple Dragonborn aswell who called himself Barnaball...though the name was strange so I called him Barney instead it was much more simpler...and funny to me for some odd reason. I sat there and conversed with the two until I heard another loud and familiar voice I looked down and found my good friend Nyx, it was nice to see her again after all we had been through and from what it looked like it would appear that she had been training hard with that bow of hers and lemme tell you she was amazing out there with that it reminded me of the other fella that shot with such deadliness you couldn't help but flinch a bit when you heard the arrow fly past..I believe his name was Raven..god look at me rambling on a damn piece of paper lemme get to the actual points of the log. As I ordered up some more drinks the group was met with two more "Adventurers" one being a human male who went by the name Ekru, that one was mysterious I honestly didn't get much from him...maybe because I didn't talk with him much anyway he was a Warlock which I guess explains the whole mysterious thing Warlocks are usually creepy and mysterious....right? There also was a really old high elf...who was like over 700 years of age I forgot the actual number due to my lack of fucks for the geezer's age but I humored him with some eye contact and some nods here and there, I also couldn't help but call him grandpa throughout the adventure as much as he hated it I think he actually liked it! Once Barney had explained why he was searching for folks to get a job done we all agreed to help him out..most honestly for the gold of course we set out for Fort Vedinia to speak with Sergeant B. (Completely forgot the guy's name but I'm sure he knows who he is...sorry I am terrible with names) He had informed us about the dangers within telling us about this...brain chicken that we hadn't encountered on our first trek within the mines. After speaking with the Sergeant we all decided before heading out we'd better get a good nights rest before arriving within the mine to clear out all the dangers within, some folks were kind enough to let me stay within a workers building of some kind besides staying out in the cold I didn’t ask but I had hoped the others found a nice spot to sleep besides outside it gets quite nippy out there. So we awoke the next morning and arrived back where we originally met with the Sergeant to ride out to the mines where some of the dwarves were awaiting us, I didn't hear much of what happened during the trip due to me catching a quick nap before we had to get down to working but it was most likely just some useless banter about things and stuff that I won't care to put within this here log. After a while of travel we eventually arrived at our destination with some dwarves waiting outside with tents out, it had appeared that they were staying near the mines I figured it was because they were just the workers but for what reason they were just hanging out there for who knows how long..I didn’t really care to ask. Once we had briefed the mission again we checked out gear and headed inside Kaar taking the lead to protect the weaker lot like myself of course. Within the cave it was exactly how I thought an abandoned mine would look dark and quiet, I was relieved to have my new lantern that I had bought recently it was an everburning light within the lantern...it didn’t burn as bright as most normal lanterns would but it provided enough light to keep me lit enough to keep my eyes peeled of any dangers lurking within the dark corners of the mine. Now I won't exactly need to go into much detail about the first floor of the mine to put it simply we encountered acid spitting insects about the size of an human within the area which we took care of fairly quick thanks to great teamwork and just sheer power alone, and also thanks to Kaars rather large head we learned that there were creatures that hid within the ceiling looking like a stalagmites that would drop and crush the heads of their victims causing them to slowly suffocate and also blinding them and deafening them of course, yet even so we managed to take care of the annoying pricks and move on. Yet of course everything didn't go exactly as planned at some point while still on the same floor we were at some point attacked by a much larger horde of those acid spitting insects yet we managed to take care of them...but the old geezer Aineasal somehow was spat at and his hand was severely injured to the point where I fear he may never use it again...it's very sad really but he agreed to this job knowing that things like this would happen so I just saw it as a blessing that he was alive in general it was a nasty acid attack on him. Now here is where things start to go from alright to terrible and its when we head down the stairs to the second level of the mine, I recall the Sergeant saying something about creatures creating magical darkness...well we figured out what the creatures were and one had dropped almost immediately and casted it's magical darkness while attaching to one of my companions heads. It was very difficult to determine what the hell was going on during that scrap I heard plently of shouting and at some point I even heard Nyx's wolfcompanion growling and attacking something but right after I heard it yelp and it echoed for sometime before a large splash was heard, I had feared for her companion but couldn't worry long for there were many more of these creatures and they were casting darkness every chance it could. We had no way of combating these creatures in the darkness...I came to figure this as I blindly fired arrows within the magical darkness. At some point though Barney had been attacked by one of the creatures and it attached itself on his head and began crushing the life outta him, I immediately rushed to help him dealing some serious damage to the fucker but suddenly I was taken by surprise by yet another one of these darkness casting cunts. I couldn't hear or see anything else but I knew that there was a nasty thing on my head crushing me so I did the first thing that came to mind which was stab the damn thing until it went limp and lemme tell yah it was working out nicely until Enku the bastard hit the thing with his magic warlock blasts of doom which sent me flying. Disregarding the urge to gut a warlock I killed the bloody thing and pulled it off to discover that Barney was on the ground charred and dead. I didn't even have time to mourn for the guy due to me wanting to re-group with the rest of the team, it had seemed that Kaar and Nyx were dealing with a worm like creature and by the time I got there Kaar had downed it. Not wanting to waste time I told the group to collect Barney and head out of the mines fearing that if we were to travel further we would lose another teammate I didn’t even want to look over the cliff to see if the wolf was alright I knew that if I got my hopes up I would only be kidding myselfand Nyx had confirmed my suspicions when she began to mourn for the loss of her companion in her own way. With the loss of Barney we left the mine and approached the Sergeant and reported our progress with the mine and assured him that once we had rested and resupplied and gotten more people to help we would head back within the mine to finish our mission. I only wish that the mission could of gone smoother but I suppose that isn't how it works in this line of work..its kill or be killed out here it seems but its what we all signed up for and it seems like it’s the only way to make some serious gold. For those who read this I would hope that you would consider assisting myself and my party In the clearing of this mine when we are to head back down it won't be easy but who said anything in this life was easy huh? Where there's a will, there's a way and all that right? Anyway I think this a good point to stop here I hope that the next one of these I write it won't have me saying someone died...its such a waste to lose such great potential.... Watch your asses out there, Lux

Session 83: Moonlight shadows  Present: Desna; Wood-Elf Druid, lvl 4 (Pippa B) Archer; Half-Elf Ranger, lvl 4 (Daniel B) Kroasi; Half-Elf Druid, lvl 4 (Peter) Ffiona; Human Ranger, lvl 5 (Seraphina) Mindartis; High-Elf Warlock/Fighter/Rogue, lvl 5 (Josh S) Trarbon; Dwarf Cleric, lvl 4 (Glen) Trabin the dwarf, cleric (Glen) Mindartis the voidwalker, warlock (Mindartis) Ffiona the Lykiri, ranger (Seraphina) Desna the Elf, Druid (Pippa B)  Archer the archer, Archer (Daniel B) Kroasi the Valewoman, Druid (PK) The letter is marked as urgent and to be handed only directly to the Thalidd. Dear Thalidd, my apologise to be the bringer of grave news, but be aware that the one called Mindartis might have doomed us all and that a seal that was holding shadows and hordes of sithi in place has been broken by him. Also, the father of snow, I saw him, and this cursed being resisted the songs we sing to guard our homes. I was just back to Haven to pick up some of the herbs that Tannyll asked me to bring from the alchemist they have there in the upper city, Everade, and entered the Tipsy Mermaid, the inn of the blue sashes as you know, to ask for a room. There was a man inside that was searching for companions, his name: "Mindartis", though he looked a lot like the man called Erolith that once was guest in the vale and in your halls. He spoke of a darkness lurking that is trying to break free and that lives in the forest of shadows. He claimed it to be also a grave danger for our home and thus I was willing to participate. The others he recruited I had not seen or heard of before except for Ffiona who also was at your halls in the past. He told us that we will need to go through the forest of shadows, that dreadful place.  This man Mindartis, he was emitting a strong glow of the dwemmor and the snow started melting around his walk, yet he insisted to cross to the maladon mainland by walking across the ice. I kept my distance and still think it is a miracle he did not break through the ice and drown, it might have saved us all a lot of trouble. We arrived at the forest which the newly arrived imperial forces have driven back and without hesitation he stepped in and walked through, tendrils of shadow appearing and attaching itself to him and soon there was no natural life anywhere near. The trees high above were most likely housing creatures of mundane kind but I cannot believe anything else living there. From time to time growing plants were visible, luring insects to them just to devour them. They might have done the same to anything else approaching them. The entire place was filled with a dark dwemmor and I am uncertain how this man navigated us through, he touched a tree and time seemed to flow beside us and I had not noticed our journey were it not for Ffiona. The ranger suddenly started looking sickly and as Mindartis saw this he somehow made a blossom appear and from the insides he produced a black good with his hand that he gave to Ffinoa to consume. It seems to have overcome some of the weariness that befell her. While doing these things he was talking in a strange tongue and I am not sure, but I feel like it was the dark tongue... We eventually arrived at the place Mindartis intended to lead us, a huge starshaped vault. The place looked like the riftwood in the stories we have. The vault was pierced by towers of black obsidian glass, higher than the highest tower of Haven, darker than any abyss. We moved forward and there he was... the father of snow. He started talking to Mindartis and I started singing the song I was taught, the song to drive out the snow. For a second I saw how the magic on his body faded, his boy like, palish skin withered to that of an old man, but then he composed himself and flouted me, I spoke these words badly. This was the first and last time he had spoken in a tongue I could understand. Ffiona slowly stepped up and tried to grab a hold of him, though her hand slipped right through him and he mocked her in another tongue, I think that of the Lykiri people. He continued to converse with Mindartis and then leaned back onto the Tower of glass between which he had been standing. I could hear the cracking from where I was standing, a good 50 feet away. I don't know why I did not outright attack him, my mind was just suspended, too puzzled by what was happening. I may have been able to prevent some of what passed itself by doing so. The cracks of the tower spread and the father of snow disappeared just as pieces of the glass started falling and parts shattered onto the floor, but not before 6 shadowy figures jumped out of it. I swear that cursed creature was laughing at us. Mindartis spoke to them and I don't know what he told them but it convinced two of them to disappear and we were left with 4 adversaries. He continued talking but as soon as I saw one of them summoning eerie blades in each hand I called out to the spirits to help and to attack that being. This has never happened before and I don't know why, it must be this lifeless place, but dear Thalidd, instead of a spirit of the earth a shadow from above darted down and formed in the shape of a fallen person and followed what I had ordered. That place seems to be so cursed, not even the spirits wish to reside there... I don't know what that creature was, what spirit it was... someone dead? The spirit of this place? The darkness itself? Whatever it was, it was unsettling and confusing and I will have to meditate on it once I get a chance. Though it was darkness, it attacked the creatures that had formed and that spoke the same tongue as Mindartis.  Before it could rush onto Mindartis our party was reacting and Archer fired an arrow at the being as did Ffiona. It shattered. I looked at the dim moonlight and called out for the spirit that resides in there to burn anyone that would charge at us and soon another of these people fell to our combined attacks. Mindartis unleashed a blast and shattered the glass like armour that had formed around another one and thus only one remained.  The voidwalker again raised his voice and then pulled out a gem, shining in bright light and the glassy wearings fell off of this person and started sinking, burrowing into the ground, like insects. A look of surprise settled onto his face and he was bowing in some strange manner to Mindartis who moved towards the mirror behind which I could make out the shape of a Tiefling, Marokin as Mindartis called him. He moved the gem towards the mirror and both burst into pieces and immediately we started hearing all sorts of strange sounds coming from inside. A shadow from below leaped onto the Tiefling and attached himself, it might have been just his shadow, I don't know but in that place everything seems possible. Mindartis picked up Marokin and moved away. We studded him and went off but I saw that other creatures were forming as well at the now shattered mirror, I called out to the moon spirit to direct its beam infront of the now open passage in the hope of keeping them at bay so we could escape. That is what I remember, then, some magic must have been enacted, we were out of the forest.  This is when I made my way back and started writing this report to you, dear Thalidd. I am sorry for those news but if the people escape that place and find a way to roam outside that wicked forest, all of Maladon is at risk. Mindartis, he claimed to do something about this darkness, but to me it seems he only helped it escape.... I will be following this note as soon as Everade has readied the herbs and hope the meeting with the imperial ambassadors went well. I know Cain is a friendly fellow as is Master Boone, but I fear they might be blindly following this man, the white emperor, and his claim to try to defeat the red emperor. ... Dear Thalidd,  someone just informed the Tipsy Mermaid that forces of that Red Emperor have landed on Baels Island, the place where I discovered a disease similar to the one that rots any corn we grow. Please urge Tannyll to inform me whether she can manage for some time on her own, I will need some time to inquire about this situation. May the spirits be with you! Kroasi

And so I gathered up most of the people who were on the last trip to Khulican the princess Vedinia, Rath, and Grigor. I also brought some others that I trust one Esekiel Boon and a Ffiona. We all arrived in the Tipsy Mermaid as most adventures begin and waited for the chests we were delivering to arrive. Once they had gotten there Boone and some others had seen that they were sealed with wax and did not like the orders to leave the chests unopened looking back now I should have asked for the shipping manifest of the items we were bringing. We all loaded them up and crossed the sound to the awaiting caravan we had waiting for us and sent some men back to gather some more guards and two dummy chests. After all preparations had been made we set of east to the Vale. By the time the caravan got moving it was mid-day and be were making good progress but the cold was disheartening our men as well as the princess. Some riders from Redvale came and approached our caravan asking if we would come and visit and so we did. I had initially just wanted to have diner and leave but was talked out of it by the morale of our men who have distaste for the cold and so we decided to stay the night. We placed the chests in the soon to be wine cellar and locked them tight and having them always under guard. Before finally heading to bed we shared dinner with Aurelia Donau and her mother Caelynn Donau and this is when I found that instead of wanting to share a nice dinner they wished to chew my ear off about this land dispute of the land I have gotten from the temple. I leave these matters in the hands of my company as I have no interest in that type of political malarkey so any who are affected by these claims please bring your complaints to them. I also received a surprise from them when entering my room that I wish not to explain in detail, just make sure you look above your door if you are not in their best regards. Once the sun broke the darkness of the land we set out finally to our destination. We walked up the Red River and my companions tried to tough out the cold during our long trek. It was nice to see the new towns and the bridge by Hunters Inn a once desolate area now starting sprawl with life. When we made our way to the gate we were held up by the guards but deciding to bring some local guides to the area turned out to be a good idea as we were quickly let through the gate thanks to Boone and Ffiona. Once again we were passing through this iron stained passage to find our way to their city of Dun Mora. Entering once again as guests we unloaded the gifts but some of the party were weary of them and asked to open the chests at the guidance of one of their Druiths and head guards to ensure the safety of the Talidd. The first three chests we opened were of no trouble although the surprise of one of the items was ruined because of this. The fourth was strangely unmarked and the Princess Vedinia confirmed that it would be strange for her brother to send something so plain one of my companion gems Dwor noticed the magic of the Duergar inside the chest and we soon realized once again we had brought an enemy by mistake to their doorstep. Not moments after we found this out a mechanical spider of the Duergar had jumped out of the box and begun attacking us. Boone who was unwary and was ready immediately took action against it. There was a strange lack of sound within a certain area created by this mechanical beast so most of our caster’s abilities would not work without their vocal components. My steed ran to two men that were carrying one of the chests to the hall to get their attention. In the meantime the party was working together to take the beast down the casters had moved out of range so that they may cast and the Princess Vedinia accompanied by Grigor and I started attacking the beast from close while the others pinned it down from range. It had landed a heavy blow on me with its attacks knocking me to the ground in two hits later to be revitalized by Boone’s prayer. The Druith used some spell he later called shatter on the crystal the beast was carrying shattering it and releasing the anti-sound field it had up. I had decided it be wise to use some of my weapons power and Ffiona her strange arrows that disabled it dealing a great blow to the beast. Then to my amazement the spider shattered into a swarm of tiny spiders too many that anything but area of effect spells would not harm them in a meaningful way. With the help of our mages and weapons we finally cleared the last of them finally able to complete our task that we were sent to do. We finally got to speak of peace with the Talidd exchanging words between him and the princess mostly. I normally would not try my hand at these negotiations as I am a warrior and a tactician not one who would be an envoy but the battle that was had beforehand left me delirious losing a fair amount of blood and having my head cooked by that machines electrical power. Doing so I made a bit of a fool of myself but the Princess Vedinia on the other hand spoke wonderfully and got the messages across that we had come to give including the Rod of Rulership that the Vale seemed most ecstatic about receiving and in their hands will make them an even more powerful ally. When talking about trade of potatoes the Talidd asked that we first make peace with the Rebels of Tarth before Trading could commence. If you would like my opinion on this matter I could see this happening as the true men of the Tarth Rebels are an honorable kind that sadly has to look to vagabonds to fuel their war-host. They hate the Empire more than anything hopefully we can convince them that the true emperor is not part of the evil that has been brought upon this island. We need their expertise in ships to possibly help train our fleet better battle maneuvers. There were some other small matters spoken of during this peace talk but my mind has slipped me from being a bit delirious at the time. We then were seated and after a bit of some more talk the Talidd graciously gifted me the sword of Jadarel one of the swords of the avowed we are looking for. Once dinner was complete we slept in the halls and made our way back to haven but taking a small detour for an old friend of mine. A long time ago we fought the fire plagued form of Raos and were victorious but were unable at the time to bring his tomb back. So with the men we had with us and the large caravan to support the weight of the massive tomb. With the work of everyone we managed to heave the massive stonework overhead and bring it to the caravan awaiting us where the pass opens up. By this time with the side trek we had made it was starting to get dark so we headed into Hunters Inn the princess buying out the tavern deciding to stay next to the fire for the night. We expected a peaceful night but were rudely awaken when a bat flew into the room and turned into a Vampire and our lookout bringing us all to wakefulness. Quickly Grigor managed to get a net over the beast quite easily and for some reason Rath our sorcerer decided to splash water on the beast he told me later that apparently they do not like running water. I thought it best to have Raos bring sunlight to the room to burn away the creature of the night and after doing so the Vampire turned into a mist and floated off perhaps realizing how much of a disadvantage it would be during this fight. We then tried to get some information from the place and the Inn keeper had run off into the night and when given the choice to surrender decided to flee and was taken down by my and others arrows. And although it saddens me one of my companions muttered that he was charmed we have more information. Any important buildings owners should go under charm tests before retiring for the night to avoid feeding this vampire menace. We finally made our way home first dropping off Raos at my halls and when I had lifted his tomb to present him with something I had found that Raos the Sunbringer had potato spuds growing out from around him. I ask that any reading this tell their men to spread word that Raos is not a Potato God but an Avatar of Sol misworship has caused him to become what he is not. So I plead that if you wish to venerate him do so for an Avatar of Sol Raos the Sunbringer. After putting Raos into the Halls of Light we made our way back to Haven and made our report to the Emperor and completed our quest. Signed, Cain Immortui Head Councilmen of Rathaka and Abbott of Swords

Session 85: Two Birds of a Feather Present: Bort, Goliath Fighter, Lvl 3 (Hairy0tter) Dain, dwarf cleric, lvl 1 (luchi) Ironside the Elf, Wood Elf Fighter, lvl 2 (Witch Hunter) Zeech, Aarakockra, Monk lvl 3 (Sam) Fritz Igor Human Cleric/Wizard lvl 2 (Sam D S) Tharn, Wood elf Druid, lvl1 (nabaal) Malagven; Dark Elf Warlock/Sorcerer lvl 3 (Niko) Hello Elucis! This mission did not go too good and I think I see why you didn't want me to leave this inn. And I ran into my old friend Malagven. Seems he has doesn't trust our ability to fight. It's almost ironic. People seem to enjoy calling me a chicken but then run like children from a boogeyman. I can't exactly talk ill of my party since I too ran out of fear. But I knew we could do it if everyone just stayed. Sadly the others didn't agree. As I was sitting in the Tipsy Mermaid appreciating my new scar. I noticed a couple of people gathering for a mission. I tried to sneak up on them like I usually do but apparently I slid out of my chair with a loud screech as the chair was moved across the floor and when I tried to walk towards them I slammed my toe into said chair. I tried to act like I didn't feel a thing, but I failed. But I mean it's my toe! That hurts like hell. I walked up to the others and introduced myself. Bort a goliath was sitting by the table. He has the brain of a worm but the strength of a bull. He seems to insist I taste like chicken. So I pinched him and he slapped me. The innkeeper didn't like the fighting so he told us off. This is starting to become a nuisance. I also met a dwarf named Dain. He was holding a poster in his hand with our mission. Then we had Tharn a druid. At first I thought he was a human but I later realized he Is actually a wood elf. He tried to keep us safe by healing us and the like. He was useful indeed. Malagven of course joined us too. I was asked if I could vouch for him being trustful. I said that "I can't do that but I can vouch for his usefulness". We also where joined by a Human named Fritz. He said he wanted to examine my guts. I said "I would love to examine yours at the end of my blade". He didn't seem to realize the threat and thought I was suggesting we exchange notes. The last member to join our party was Ironside a elf. I didn't take to much notice of him. I think he's a greedy man. If he becomes a problem I will deal with him. As long as he doesn't find a bounty on you there won't be any problems. We left for the Borian again like always. We where told to find a woman to the west and kill her. Apparently she was the one who created blue lights which lowered the morale of Camp Galv drastically. While in the camp we saw a gambler who seemed to never lose. He's obviously cheating, and I have seen the bounty for getting him to leave. He does posses magic so he is probably using it to his advantage. I asked the name of the camp captain this time like I said I would. He is named Kameron Elijah. He did feel bad for putting a bounty on her head for something so small. But he did say that if we find a peaceful solution we would still get the reward. We traveled towards the west but we didn't find anything interesting. We traveled the whole day and when it turned to dusk we found a place to rest for the night. We found a small river with a small natural stone bridge going over it. I tried to walk over the bridge but found myself on fire as I stepped too far. I can still find some charred feathers here and there. We tried to find a different way of traveling over. Malagven made a smaller earth bridge beside the first one. We tied a rope around Bort and had him travel over first. On his way he got attacked by some water tentacle. He dodged it luckily and then we began a shit show of rope tying and it ended with everyone managing to get to the other side without falling in. While we where working on getting everyone over a familiar face came to visit us. Bird Bird who we later found out is named Azfael. Malagven talked with him a little and then we kept on going. Fritz our not so wise examiner wanted some of the magical water to study it's properties. As he reached into the water to gather some a water elemental emerged and dragged him down under. Luckily he hadn't taken off his rope so I was able to quickly grab it so that we wouldn't lose him. Dain tried to take the rope from my hands and in the heat of the battle I refused to let go of the rope since I didn't want to lose it. This caused a small tug of war between us. And Dain pulled too hard which caused some damage to Fritz. Fritz went unconscious cause of this and the elemental shifted it's attention else where. To me. It pulled me down under too and I tried my hardest to get up again. Eventually Bort managed to pull me up and he dragged me away from the elemental. So we stood and waited for the elemental to come to us since the water was a bad place to fight it. Sadly Dain wasn't smart enough to realize this so he ran up to it and was almost instantly killed by it. Bort had to drag him away from it as well. But we managed to whittle it down. When it was about to die Azfael threw a type of crystal at it which looked like a thunder bolt killing the elemental. The second it died Azfael flew and took the loot and then flew off. The loot was another crystal but bigger and darker. We made camp there and rested up for a bit. When it came to mine and Malagven's watch we saw the lady lighting the blue lights. Malagven sent his familiar over to investigate and talk to her. What ever he said didn't make her happy. Like always. She threw a rock at the familiar causing it to pop. She then started walking towards our camp. We all tried to hide but Fritz wasn't that good at the whole hiding thing. The lady saw him with no problem and so he started talking to her. I revealed myself to her and managed to stop a bad situation to happen. She decided that if we came with her she would show us her city and not hurt us. We decided to comply and followed her. We traveled with Salis the water genasi. She took us to a lake which we walked down into. She used a spell on us causing us to have no problem in the water. She brought us to a cave. We walked in and made our way forward. We met another genasi. He challenged us to a duel and we where forced to agree. It's some kind of ritual for these people. Malagven accepted a dual of the mind. But the genasi didn't tell us no one could interfere so we did so and helped Malagven causing him to win. Salis showed us what she called "The Heart" a blue gigantic heart. After what happened last time on the Borian I assume that the blue shackles grave had to be nearby and that we could bring the shackle back like with the black one. It turned out the heart it self is the blue shackles grave. Salis also told me about Bird Bird. She was the one who told me his name is Azfael. She told me to stay away from him and never to attack him. I will keep this in mind for the future. While talking to Salis someone started approaching us. She seemed to be in some distress after seeing the man and told us not to say a word. He was not happy with us being there and so he told us to come and that we would be part of some death game. I didn't want to follow and I knew we could kill him if he attacked. But he managed to knock out half our party. And Malagven ran like a chicken at first sign of combat. Bort picked me up and ran with me so I didn't have that much of a choice. Ironside followed with the man. and Fritz, Dain, and Tharn wanted to follow but where uncertain. So when the man attacked us they decided to run with us. with Bort obviously taking me away and ready to run. And Malagven just running like he always does. So I decided to run too. But Dain was knocked out instantly. And Ironside wasn't in a position to run so he was probably dead too. When I was at the end I decided to turn and shoot my bow at him. And at this point Ironside decided to backstab the man. It was the perfect opportunity to attack. Malagven didn't care and ran off. Fritz took some hits for us but didn't attack so he wasn't too helpful. Ironside got knocked out too. And Salis at first was against us but changed her mind and helped us. She got knocked out too but she and Ironside helped enough for me Bort and Tharn to finish him off. When he died he shattered into small crystals. I was cautious and didn't approach at first. Tharn wasn't ass cautious and ran straight at the crystals and tried to destroy them. I helped him while Bort ran and checked on Salis and Ironside. We found a crystal ring among the crystals I asked Bort to carry it and he did. Everyone was fine so we got ready to leave. Salis told us that it was not a good idea for us to stay so we left. She said she would remain with her people used a spell on us so we could swim up. We met up with Malagven and Fritz and then made our way back to Camp Galv. I told Elijha about the lady and why the lights are there. I told him that they are like lanterns guiding people to the heart. And I also told him about why they should stay as far away from the lights as possible. The lights wont harm them, but the genasi at the heart will. We then took the boat back to Haven. After all the danger I have put myself through I have decided to take a break I will be spending some time training. And maybe pick up some more trade skills. I know you don't want me to die on Maladon but if you are ready to die for your cause I will be ready to die for mine. Even if you never read my letters I will keep on writing and waiting for you to come find me. I will be waiting for you only for a little longer. And then I'm going for another adventure. - Zeech

Session 85: Crystaline Depths Present: Bort, Goliath Fighter, Lvl 3 (Hairy0tter) Dain, dwarf cleric, lvl 1 (luchi) Ironside the Elf, Wood Elf Fighter, lvl 2 (Witch Hunter) Zeech, Aarakockra, Monk lvl 3 (Sam) Fritz Igor Human Cleric/Wizard lvl 2 (Sam D S) Tharn, Wood elf Druid, lvl1 (nabaal) Malagven; Dark Elf Warlock/Sorcerer lvl 3 (Niko) Fritz Igor's notes on the Borian Isles. Copies for The Iron Fists and The White Horses. I have recently discovered some strange phenomenon on the Borian Isles and feel it worth sharing with other academics and those with a vested interest in the area. Recently while searching for a place to stay in my new home of Haven I ended up in the Tavern which I have been told is named, The Tipsy Mermaid. Inside was a fairly diverse cross section of what I believe are called 'Adventurers' in this towns parlance. A dwarf named Dain, a wood-elf named Tharn, a drow named Malagven, a hulking Goliath named Bort who would have been an interesting subject if I had not then laid eyes on an Aaracockra of all things. Naturally I introduced myself and complimented the bird man on his unique physicality. Zeech, for this was the creatures name, did not seem to take these pleasantries well but I must admit that small talk is not a speciality of mine so this could have been my fault. After a little more talking another wood-elf named Ironside appeared and we were on our way. Upon our arrival in Borian we were told by Captain Kameron Elijah that the woman whom we were supposed to kill was regularly seen on the hills to the west with blue lights surrounding her. This appeared to be the limit of her transgressions as far as I am aware and was a little surprised to see such barbarism in response to the overactive imagination of a few soldiers because it was 'bad for morale'. There was a gambler in the camp who seemed to be causing far more detriment to morale than anything this woman has done, I didn't pay him too much attention but he seemed to be using magic to relieve them of their hard earned coin. I have heard of diviners using such trickery in the past and the problem seems to be enough to warrant a job posting to remove him, but I digress. After resting for the night we set out in the direction of the suspicious sightings and made quite good progress until we came to a river with a single bridge across it by way of passage (Fig.1). The bird man was the first to try and cross. Out of nowhere he was hit by a gout of flame and hurled backwards several feet. Malagven sensed a wall of flame hidden on the centre of the bridge as well as a broadly magic aura from the river. We made many attempts to circumvent the spell but it resulted in various levels of failure. Eventually a bridge was formed of earth and ice which we crossed with the aid of a frankly obscene quantity of rope. While crossing the bridge several of our members were attacked by some sort of animated water, though it seemed to only really make attempts at those who crossed without an animal companion. Speaking of which we were joined by a strange bird that is apparently something the Iron fist expeditions have seen before. The Bird spoke draconic and was about as intellectually gifted as one would expect a bird to be. Happy with a trial conquered our party was ready to continue but I was intrigued by the magical water and decided to get a sample for further study (who knows what applications this water could be used for), in hindsight it seems as though this may have been a mistake but one must risk ones safety for the advancement of knowledge. No sooner had I submerged my waterskin than I was grabbed by some sort of sinister entity. The details are a little hazy as I was drowning at the time but with their combined efforts my companions managed to shatter my ribs against a conjured ice block and render me unconscious. When I came to I was being towered over by the Goliath and Zeech was thrashing around in the water now. After we freed Zeech from the river our assailant emerged from the depths. Some sort of water elemental had attacked us. In the ensuing fight Dain, the dwarf was rendered unconscious in a single hit and Zeech continued to take a beating but I was able to keep them in the fight with my knowledge of life magic. Eventually we brought the creature down to within an inch of it's life when the bird spat out a crystal which seemed to swallow the elemental. The creature then took the crystal and flew away. The group seemed concerned by this but there was little we could do so we decided to just set up camp for the night. During our rest we were approached by the lady we had been sent to find she was a blue skinned Genasi which I have only seen in books. Malagven attempted to communicate with her via his familiar but his diplomacy skills seem to rival my own, the Genasi lady known only to us as Salis killed the familiar with an accelerated stone. We attempted to leave but my equipment is cumbersome and does not lend itself to stealth. After a brief conversation with Salis we discovered that she had merely been using the lights to guide people to something she called The Heart which resided in city of the Genasi. We agreed to follow her to her city (Fig.2) which was located 500 feet deep in a lake (Fig.3). we were greeted by a hulking half-elemental who challenged us to a duel, after some back and forth it was agreed that he would have a magic contest against our own Malagven, it was a drawn out battle and without healing Malagven would surely have fallen but once again we emerged victorious. Salis lead us to 'The Heart' she spoke of (Fif.4) and it was magnificent. Salis said it was the heart of a Titan Drake and that it was somehow linked to the former Blue Shackle. Naturally I inspected the object with permission from our host and upon laying hands upon it I was overcome with a bizarre feeling as though I'd just stepped out of a torrential downpour but was otherwise unaffected. Talk turned to our friend Bird Bird and we were informed that he is in fact called Azfael. According to Salis the Azfael is not to be trifled with as he is nigh indestructible and will likely pester his attacker to the ends of the earth. From this point things went somewhat south when man named High-Lord Erkeil approached us. Salis, from what we've seen a very powerful mage in her own right, was petrified. Erkeil was outraged by our presence and would not be calmed down, he rendered myself and several other unconscious with a wave of his hand. When I came to, I was still on the floor where I had been stood but Ironside was stood with Salis and Erkeil and the rest of our group were running for the entrance. Faced with our current situation I decided that leaving was our best chance. Thankfully my sturdy surgical table saved me from the brunt of Erkeil's barrage of arrows in order for me to reach the entrance. I created a sphere of ice to escape in and left trusting that my comrades would have a way out. A few minutes later the remaining members of our group swam past me and I met up with them on the surface where they informed me of the events that followed my departure. It seems Salis took pity on us and helped defeat Erkeil, even saving the life of Dain. Apparently upon his death Erkeil shattered into crystals which leads me to believe he was actually some sort of simulacrum which would suggest he is a powerful magic user worthy of keeping an eye on. We returned to the camp and informed the captain of our varied levels of success. I would be interested in further researching the crystal 'Heart' but fear we are no longer welcome in the city beneath the water. For the moment I will be content in studying this enchanted river water and will share my findings with The Horses. Fritz Igor.

Session 86: Into the depths of the Disuthasin Mine Vâltyr, Human Fighter 1/Barbarian 1 (VRH) Aineasal, Wizard High Elf, Lvl 1 (Hairy0tter) Kromnir, Barbarian Dwarf, Lvl 1 (Clarence) Kaar dragon born Lv 5 paladin (thai) Nyx; Forest Gnome Ranger Lvl 3 (Justine) Argus Teramr, Half Orc Cleric lvl 3 (PK) Lux, Human Rogue lvl 4 (Taleek) --- This is the log of Kromnir, son of Keegan, of the Collque House of Khulican. I was sent to help out a group of adventurers clear out the Disuthasin Mine. I did not do this willingly. My father seems to think an expedition with other adventurers will change my "wicked" ways. In any case, I met the party at the entrance of the mine. There were Vâltyr and Lux, two humans; Alineasal, an elf; Kaar, a dragonborn; Argus, a half orc; and Nyx, a forest gnome. Finally there was Croaker, a frog-like creature and Okkoto, a small boar that accompanied Nyx. I introduced myself briefly to them, and then we entered into the mine. We quickly decided on a formation, and moved in deeper into the first level. Shortly after going to a corridor on the left, I heard a sound. I turned to the right just in time to see a spit of acid land onto the poor boar Okkoto. Creepers were attacking us! We quickly disposed of them and I am ashamed to say that I partook in the carnage and even finished off one of the pests. After the battle, I picked up my javelins and we continued exploring the level. At some point we came across a baby of one of the creepers. One ranged attack was all it took to end its miserable existence. Upon further inspection of the area, we heard many sounds of the creatures coming from the walls. Suspecting a nest, Argus poured oil into the walls and set it on fire, hoping that it would destroy all the creatures. The many screams of the poor defenseless and vulnerable babies was all the confirmation we needed. We explored the rest of the level and on our way to the second floor we passed through the big hole in the center. Argus wanted to take a look from above, so he had Aineasal cast one of his spells for light. We saw what it appeared to be creepers shooting at something we couldn't quite discern. I suggested that the creepers might be fighting some other enemies. In hindsight, perhaps we should have waited upstairs until the creepers were done fighting whatever it was they were fighting. But we decided to go downstairs right away. We went down one by one, with Kaar and Argus in front, and what we saw was a battlefield! Creepers on the left and Gricks on the right, fighting against each other, at least until we came in. At that point the Gricks decided to come for us. Three of them surrounded Kaar, who suffered a terrible hit. To his credit, he stood standing and was able to heal himself. However, he shouted that we should back up into the first level for a better position. So we did. We all attacked the creatures and then went upstairs, but then, realizing that the advantage was on our side, we quickly rushed down and finished the remaining creatures. It was not the easiest fight, but everyone was okay at the end. We thoroughly explored the 2nd level, but we found nothing else of interest. We headed down for the third level. We explored for a bit without incidence, but then we came across a strange room, filled with mushroom species. They looked very familiar to me, but I was unable to ascertain exactly what they were. In addition, there was a weird smell in the area. To enter the room there was a slope so that one going in would have to jump down. And that's just what Kaar did. While he explored the room, I had the idea of tying a rope to a piton so the rest of the party could go down as well. While the party was busy with the rope, suddenly a loud sound filled the chamber and next thing we saw was Kaar lying down on the ground, unconscious. And then it hit me! I knew what these mushrooms were! This species emits an inflammable gas and then they wait for somebody to come close. If whoever gets close has a torch, it will cause the gas to explode which causes the victim to fall unconscious and then they move very slowly towards them and devour their resting bodies. What interesting species! The party, not willing to give a chance to the mushrooms to recharge, stroke them down from a distance. Then, we woke up the sleeping Kaar and turned our attentions to the rest of the room. The two most noteworthy things were a big chest and a skeleton. Argus wanted to take the bones with him in order to conduct proper burial rites, so after I told him what the proper Khulican rites were, we put them into my bedroll and took them with us. As for the chest, first we tried dragging it across the room. Then Kaar went and opened it. Inside we found several objects. One of the items we found however, is a Khulican hammer. As soon as I held it in my hand I knew it was meant for throwing. I could feel a sort of energy running through it, and I decided to throw it into a cluster of shrooms and see what happened. As soon as the hammer hit the cluster, a thunderous explosion resounded through the chamber and the shrooms were immediately destroyed. I decided to keep the hammer in my hand, as it might come handy in following battles. We continued exploring, passing by a gem cluster and eventually ending up in a room where dozens of skeletons lay along with some coins. And it is at that point that a horrid apparition revealed its presence. A ghost sprouted up from some bones and started attacking us! I acted among the first, throwing my hammer at it. While my aim was true, it seems that whatever magic had animated the hammer before was spent. The hammer went right through the ghostly figure. My companions had similar luck and their weapons also failed to do any damage to the creature. Kaar, however, was able to strike a monumental hit against it. It seemed as if his weapon was not hindered by the ghost's spectral nature. The ghost seemed angry, and tried to possess Argus, but luckily it wasn't able to. I saw Lux spreading some sort of cream or liquid along her blades, and remembering have heard her before talk about this substance being able to go through supernatural creatures' defenses I quickly borrowed some of it and spred it spread it along my javelins. We continued fending off the ghost until Kaar again dealt a monumental strike that made it vanish. After the battle, the cleric, Argus, cast flames on the remains until they crumbled to dust. The ghostly presence that had been there before was now greatly diminished. After further exploring the level and grabbing anything of importance we headed out and that's the mission. I would like to recommend to my fellow dwarves that they take the bones from the mines and give them proper burial. As for the bones of the ghost, I recommend they be thrown into the sea.

Session 88: Animal Cruelty Present: Luca Scipio Umbra, Shifter Fighter lvl 2 (Wolf R I.) Ashara Elderglean, High-Elf Wizard lvl 1 (Sam) Gabriella Greatoven, Halfling Monk lvl 4 (Taleek) Thorin Strogoak, Dwarf Druid lvl 2 (Alice B) Hydlian, Dwarf, Cleric lvl 3 (Clarence) Malagven, Dark-Elf Warlock/Sorcerer lvl 3 (Niko) Vâltyr, Human Fighter/Barbarian lvl 3 (VRH) By Malagven Baenrae of the White Horse Brigade. It had reached my ears that one Gabriella Greatoven was assembling a band of company men for an assignment posted by our Company, a job I was also personally interested in. We were to deliver to the deep gnomes of Makra three mules provided by the Company. The gnomes have livestock they call oneros, odd animals covered in fungi from which the gnomes draw their drinking water. They had requested three of these beasts of burden to be delivered to them so they might be transformed into onero-kind. Miss Greatoven had mistakenly brought five mules of her own for this expedition in addition to the ones we were to acquire from the Horses. She insisted on bringing them along although she was warned of the possibility of them not making the travel through the portal in perfect condition. At most we could receive enough gate stones for ourselves and the three mules we were delivering. After incredibly dull conversations of how we should proceed we made our way through the chilly gateway and crossed to Makra. It didn't take much effort to take note of Miss Greatoven's mules' condition. Clearly the travel had taken an unrepairable toll on them. Again we lingered in place for much too long and were practically shoved out from my company's encampment, much to my disgrace. Miss Greatoven, as impetuous as ever, made the wise choice of ending the mad animals' lives some time later. Our travel succeeded uncommonly peacefully and we reached the gnomish settlement with time to spare. Our time there was surprisingly pleasant with Miss Greatoven treating everybody with her cooking skill and the gnomes returning the favor with a broth of their own. Everyone took what rest they needed and after a time span approximately a full night the party left with three gnome guides and mules to where the onero transformation was to take place. Traveling north our dwarf companions took note of an entrance to the east. Many examined it but learned nothing more than it wasn't of natural make. One of the gnomes told us to keep away as it was a passage to the gods' territory, whoever those might be I do not know. Beyond a trek of many tunnels we arrived to the entrance of sizable cavern. Its every wall, from top to bottom teeming with plant growth and mushrooms. This was the place the gnomes told yet they also knew little of what was to come. I suspect none of them had before been here to transform these onero creatures which struck me as peculiar. Either it had been a momentous time period since the last time this had taken place or the elders had assigned inexperienced members to our aid. This, I must stress, can be a lethal if the task a group from Haven takes on is any more dangerous than what we undertook. The gnomes made the mules down a liquid which they informed us was to help them become one of these fungi beasts. A soon as the mules had gone some way inside the cavern animated vines leaped from the undergrowth, dragging the animals down and into a green pool of what seemed like water. A few of us took blows from the plant creatures but escaped without much more trouble. We were advised to let the mules be as this was supposed to happen. And soon enough two of three taken down trundled back to us from within the cavern. We waited to possibly secure the last one as well, it didn't return. Again we made our way to the settlement and every took what rest they needed. The gnomes sealed the beasts in a hollow in a wall to the back of their cavern. Some of us inquired about their condition and were told the transformation takes time even after the fungal infestation. Somehow Miss Greatoven hadn't paid much mind her surroundings and so stepped onto the raised platform in the middle of the cavern. A platform which signifies to the gnomes a dwelling place of their gods and elders. The incident was luckily settled with only consequence possibly being disfavor with the elder who forced her back. As per Hydlian's suggestion we passed by the basilisk den a previous party had nearly cleared out on our way back. Although we recalled having to leave two of the creatures behind that time we now only discovered a single one. It took little effort to dispatch to the afterlife. Inside the lair we discovered some petrified body parts, two potions and a pair of scrolls as well as a magical ring. One of the dwarves carved out one of the defeated basilisk's eyes for they had proven to be valuable material. Once more we took to the caves. The trip back was quick and easy. I jested if something had driven off all the ogres and other monsters adventurers had encountered before. In any case, we were approved to keep the items we found and headed back through the portal.

Turning in live Dire Wolf puppies attracts double the bounty. 400 gp is offered if the source of this menace can be found and dealt with. We was randomly gathered  at the port, where i saw my friend Tharn also wanted to go to the vale. assuming this was a easy task, since i saw two fresh folks comming right off the boat that same day. the ferryman was quite funny, making bets with one of the party member 10 gold that the party came back and 3g on him self coming back alive and well.   on the boat we meet a guy name Kalem, he had seens some battles, he was complaining about the boots he had bought from someone for 2gp.  this gnome, think hes name was Cognut  a sorcerer tinker gnome of some sort  touched his boots and *poof* like that hes  shoes was like brand new  or so it seems.  told of if we ever needed a favor we culd find him at the Black lion.    aah, we where also followed by some Lord that i dont remember his name, but he borrowed us some horses for the ride to the redvale. it was quit a bumpy ride, not to much fan of riding, i like to keep my feet on the ground. after a while   we stopped to rest the horses  as the lord  whent to the in to gather some supplies for us.   we then made a nice campfire when we noticed some sheeps and then after a while saw the shepart.  he didt see to happy to see us, but since the sheep was there he talked too us,  feel sorry for him, told us that he lost 2 sheeps to the wolfs, caring for his fameiiy   i gave him 1 gold coin for the loss, he gave us some usefull info about a  old hut he slept in when the wolf attacked. so he told us where we culd find it, it might have some clues about these attack by wolfs.   Then suddenly Tharn yelled ''Thief's''   as we turn around, one of the bandits tryed to take the donkey that the gnomes used as his mighty steed. not to happly  the party  enganged to combat without due.   we managed to somehow capture all  tree of them without killing,   i had to tend to one of the bandits wounds so he did't die.    we tied them up and i think it was Hanzo and Tek  that wanted to use these bandits as human bait for the wolfs, i refused to agreed on this plan  as i dont intend to shame my name nor my company The red dragon's  and as i had luca and tharn  from the red dragon with me, that was hardly any arguments. i rather see them punished by law.  later that evening we was told that the bandits was hired to act like this by unknow yet, but they had some fine bow,  bountyhunter and some soldier alike bow, to fine to only be commonly bandits. as we came to the ''strong holdt'' we was meet by the lady and her manservant. we all bowed as gracly as we culd, the gnome just waved. but one of the party member, do not remember his name  stepped way over the line, beliving this fine Lady was part of the barcrew and asked her to serv him some beer. we all appoliges for his behavior, must have hittes his head during the fight with bandits.  we told her about the old hut that the shepart was talking about and she told us that she will send some soldier to clear out the hut or see what info she culd get from it. The manservant also told us by this little village that was living there outside of her domain, not paying taxes for protection or so, not that was  our mission at hand but  if we wanted to handle that as well.   so after that we all whent to sleep to get ready in the morning  we all did some errands before going out. think it was Jewels that bought a Hunting dog, seems like a good idea since we are hunting wolfs. This was a Great plan, we headed out  and we all tought it was a good plan to start where the shepart told us where he lost his 2 sheeps, as we was at the hut nothing seemed out of order, but the floor in the hut was broken, seems like someone fall true into the basement,  Cognut was familier to alchemist or was it herbalism  and found out who ever lived here studied this, by the looks of the herb that was here, it has passes years since someone was here.   the huntmans name was Odo that was leading us here. When we was doing this the hunting dog noticed something and ran off, the owner of the dog had no clue how to call for him, so we all had to run after this dog in a merry chase. lucky the dog lead us to this small village that we was told about. we talked to  some old guy named oleg, they live a  quite life alone and dont realy like stranger, this is why they dont want to pay taxes.  but after persuasion talk with the chief of the village  since they also had some troubble with the attacks of the raging wolfs,  seems like it was a pack of 7 Wolfs that had gone mad, we agreed if we tok care of that problem  they will start paying taxes to Baroness Aurelia of Redval for protecion.  as long they culd live in peace without disturbant from outsiders.  We was told they where last seen near the bonesomething  we all headed out, after alot of walking around with the dog he finaly found the track of them, it did not take long before we where surrounded by 7 angry wolfs, it seems like the wind was not in our favor.  Luca was the front, took the first assault head on, he shortly feel to the ground  by one of the wolfs, biting into his legg, we easly killed the wolf  that Luca was having problem with,  after that Luca had no problem staying on his feet. My self on the other hand got surprised by how strong one of them was, and it all whent black  for  4-7seconds before Tharn healed me up, telling me to get back in the fight. after that  i kept my party up by useing the healerkit  to heal my wounded party members. i was to busy to actually see what happend but  we somehow managed to fight off the wolfpack, killed all 7 off them bringing the pelt back as prof.  we then headed back to the village, as we honored our part of the agrement,  they will now start paying taxes as long as they are left alone. this must be a great deed to be done, extending the borderline and her influence, fixing the tax issue and tok care of the Wolf problem. This mission have bonded great friendship  since all stood our ground and fought together not leaving a party member nor having someone to die Signed by Dain of Fireforge ( sendt to the red dragon  + a copy to whoever assigned this mission )
Session 89: Please call it something other than Awoo To the wise, beautiful, wonderful and magnificent Baroness Aurelia of Redvale CC: Raven of the Fellowship of the Unicorn. My lady, me and this lot set out from Haven after your agent Forsure told us of your job and the payment to deal with the wolf problem in your barony; Jewels Baddarock, thats me dwarfess extraordinaire! Cognuts, some weirdo magic gnome Tharn, an elf who likes nature and stuff Hanzo, some religious bloke Brok, a raging half-orc and not gnome Dain, a dwarven priest Luca, a big guy with a big shield As you already know, we stopped off for a short rest on the way to Redvale at a ruined village not far from the Red Flag Inn. There's good stonework there by the way, build by glarnic folk long ago if I'm not mistaken. Ingenius buggers dont even use mortar. Anyway, Frosure said he were going to get us provisions from the Inn but I have my doubts, didnt come back with much to my recollection. While waiting though we met a shepard there wandering through with his flock. Got to talking and he told us about wolf attacks on his flock. Said he'd been sheltering at long abandonned farm house out in the woods, when they came and took two of his sheeps, he also claimed he'd gotten a good shot at one with his sling and caved the blighters head in, but in the morning the body was nowhere. It was just after that, and while we was looking with dismay at the gnome's tendancy to bother the sheeps when Tharn, who were keeping an eye on the horses called out about thieves. This is the three we brought back to Redvale and handed over, and giving them a good bashing, if there was more lurking about we didn't see them. We was questioning them a bit and looking over their equipment, mighty good for common bandits if you ask me, when your hedge knight shows back up and we got on our way back with prisoners in tow. Your Redvale looks like it's coming along right well in my opinion, and if I may say so, the Iron Rest Inn is bloody great and the name very well chosen! We had a pleasant stay, though sorry again for Hanzo, he's a fucken muppet but he does come in handy, much like Frosure I bet. After breakfast I went out to find a good sheep or hunting dog, you know, one that knows about wolves and stuff. Found a kennelmaster selling one for 29 imperials, you ought to get that bugger on your payroll if you hadn't already, we Angkaran are used to haggling for stuff but this guy couldn't be budged. I'm no mad though, the fluffy bugger came in handy and don't he look gorgeous! (Attached is a sketch of a black mastiff, with the label "Onyx") Dunno what the hell the others were doing though, something about cannons and bolas and fitting a crossbow with nets and other madness but afterwards we met up with a local hunstman assigned to guide us through the barony called Odo. First place we went too were the abandonned farmhouse the Shepard had told us about since it were the closer than Malham, which we was told were in the centre of these wolf disturbances, and also was more or less on the way. We get there after a little while and find the place, certainly its as decripit as all get out but theres also a little graveyard nearby all dug up, probably robbers looking for a quick coin or two. One of the priests starts yelping that one of the bodies is magic, ends up breaking the bones and then starts ranting that they're weird and hollow like bird bones which is right strange. Then I heard a crash from the house, the gnome and Luca had gone in there and were messing about so much that they broke the fucken floor! Smashed clean through. They found some magic bits and bobs, freaky little fetish things and some kind of inscribed circle on the floor. As well as enchanted wolf pelts that turns you into a wolf yourself! At that point the dog picks up the scent of something interesting to him and dashes off on it's trail. I follow and everyone else gets dragged along too on this winding route which eventually brings us to a strange little village which turns out to be none other than Malham that we was heading too anyways. The Malham lot are a shy bunch, they'd taken off as we approached abandonning their houses and carting off their livestock with them. They forgot to clean up their droppings though and it was pretty obvious that they'd been there only minutes before we arrived with the dog. I brought him into the empty houses to sniff around, see if he could find whatever had been in the farm hous. The fuzzy bastard got pretty excited in one of the houses so I had a poke around and found some woman's diary, it were a different version of common than those im used to but the latest entry talked about some magical spirits gone rogue. While I was reading up on that, the others found some old guy, Oleg, who came along to see what we were about. He told them a lot, first that the villagers were scared of strangers because of how their settlement weren't authorised and also because they been treated badly by the empire in the past. I wonder if they've not heard the news of Octavin's new friendlier regime or they just don't believe it. Anyway after that he told the party about those rogue spirits, calling them Vodyanoi or something. Pretty common back in their native realm but there's so little magic there that they're easy to deal with. Just give em a bowl of milk and a drop of blood and they're happy, or else they'll drain blood off of animals. Here in magic saturated Maladon though they're apparantly a terrible menance, possessing animals and even people, mutating them and making them kill. So there it seems is the problem. Some of these nasty vodyanoi thingies has gone mad overdosing on magic, possessed the local wildlife and that's what ate your hunters and such. Oleg also told us that they had a good idea where these wolf pinching spirits were making their home, deep in the Bonewood so that was where we planned to go next, but by that point it were getting on for night so we camped out in some caves the villages had sheltered from us in. By the way, the villages were ok with joining the Barony of Red Vale in exchange for protection and such, so I think we just got you 12 or 13 new subjects. In those caves though were some of the 'good' Vodyanoi, ones that didn't try to kill people anyway. They were more mischevious than malevolent you know? I think. The villages would give them offerings and they'd not harm the villagers or their animals. Tharn, our elven friend could hardly get any sleep for them calling to him in his head with what he said were the most beautiful songs though so I suggested he try the bowl of milk and drop of blood trick, give an offering to make them leave him alone. Let's just say it didn't work. Still, they never actually did any harm and if you like oogling naked women that are about six inches tall and can turn into bats, then that's certainly the place to go. I wonder what Erika Thistledown would make of these things, that would be a fun introduction! In the morning, after a proper breakfast, we made our way into the Bonewood then, following the lead Oleg had given us and guided by the keen senses of my new dog soon found a strange glade in the depths of the wood. Poor four legs though about weed himself when we got there and it was a merry chase to get him back, and it weren't long after that that the pack of evil pixie-posessed wolves showed up. They weren't dire wolves but the vodyanoi had made them about as big and mean but we still gave them a good whacking. Problem was, when you destroy the body they posses the spirit comes out and tries to possess another one, typically whicher poor sod just killed their body. Nasty things. We found though that if you stuck the bodies through with iron deep enough to connect em to the ground like a stake, that the spirits would be destroyed, or atleast bound for a good damn long time. Good job we had some of those climbing pitons in us packs! After the hard fight we took the pelts as proof of our deeds. We killed seven in all, I'm not sure that's all of them, but is definitely most of them, and with what we've learned the rest shouldn't be too far behind joining them in the grave! So, in conclusion your grace, we fucked up some bandits preying on travellers in your lands, helping you uncover their little conspiracy. Found out what was causing your wolf problem, brought a new settlement under your banner and then put paid to the evil spirits. Not bad for a couple of days work, eh? Your's faithfully, Jewels Baddarok ----------------- Addendum attached to the copy delivered only to Raven of the Unicorns Ok, so quite a lot of the last parts there were false. It's broadly true! But you see there was this really powerful old woman called Anya that the villagers were also piss scared of. It was she that had summoned these damn Vodyanoi pixie buggers, she hadn't intended to harm anyone of course but by the time they learnt about the effects of magic here on those spirits it were too late and since then she's been working to try and salvage them or destroy them. Thats her story anyway. That farm house was her sort of lair and full of magic shite including these bone things made from stillborn bairns, that was how we found her in the bone wood. We hadnt followed a lead from Oleg to the wolves but to find Anya who was, like i said trying to sort things out. The Vodyanoi knew that too so they turned up to try and kill her and us. Luckily we got the better of them. The reason I werent fully truthful in my report to the Baroness is because that Anya seems fuck-off powerful and not afriad to use it, which got 'em into the mess in the first place you ask me, but is afraid of the empire and more or less threatened us to keep quiet. Apparantly how she uses magic is kind of unique and she thinks the imperials would either kill her as a precaution or just pull her apart trying to study her. I've already got one nasty old powerful bitch on my case don't need another one, you know? Oh, yeah, there's also a glade in the bonewood with some old river god. So basically, you want to get a couple of your waysider friends to go down there and keep an eye on things, seems like evil spirits, ancient gods and people messing with magics beyond their ken is the kind of thing that's in their job description, aye?

Session 89: A patch of fur and a bucket of cold spirits. Present: Sprocket Springhouse; Rock Gnome Sorcerer, lvl 1 (Simen) Tharn; Wood Elf Druid, lvl 1 (Nabaal) Hanzo Eberron; Human War Cleric, lvl 2 (Speedhawk) Tek Valorn; Half-Orc Fighter, lvl 3 (Chris) Dain; Dwarf Cleric, lvl 1 (Luchie) Jewels Baddarok; Angkaran Barbarian, lvl 2 (Zilarrezko) Luca Scipio Lupus; Shifter Fighter, lvl 2 (Wolf R I) Dear big brother,It is I, Tharn. I am sorry I had to send the letter trough the business, but we both know the letter would never reach you If our parents caught wind of a letter from me. I’m still a bad influence and all that. First things first: know that I am well and healthy and be sure to tell the others that I am doing perfectly fine. And If anyone of our siblings are thinking of going out and adventuring themselves be sure to kick their asses. Adventuring is not a glorious life and I escaped death by a hairs breadth this time around. We were going out on a wolf culling, some baroness was having problems with the local wildlife and dire wolves was, according to the mission, the culprits. Sounds like easy money, right? Well, you can never trust a milk run. Something always comes up. So this foppish noble was gathering crew to the mission. Knew one of them from before, a dwarf. Good healer that one. Two of them were fresh of the boat, there was an orc that looked like he had seen decent action and two others. Seven guys to kill of some overgrown furballs. If anything this seemed as safe as it could get, but that didn’t stop this creep from betting against our safe return as soon as we set foot in the region. I won’t be telling you where we landed brother. I trust you of course, but you never know if the letter would get intercepted on its way to you. But anyways, as soon as we land the rest of my group is betting, not only on their own safe return, but on everyone’s safety. A random solider returning from further inland gives us a little heads-up. In return gets his shoes repaired by this one magi gnome we got running with us and gets more than enough cash to buy brand new ones. So here I’m thinking either these guys are saints or they are naïve as all hell. The foppish noble had some horses ready for us and we were heading out. I’m telling you brother, this place was run down, a breath away from feral tribes. You could tell traveling through the spot that there was much need in the area. The stink coming from the villages, and people eyeing you up to see if you would make an easy target. Not long after that our guiding peacock decides that he has to run off and do some “important errands” before we can continue, so we’re stuck in the middle of nowhere, sitting in our asses. After a little while this shepherd runs into us. We spooked the poor man something bad. A rag-tag band of misfits in the middle of nowhere, packed with weapons out the wazoo? Yeah the poor sod thought we were bandits. Thankfully he does not run and the party gets a proper conversation going with the old man. Lot of help and a good deal of useful info on how the wildlife has been acting up from the man. The winter has not been bad, so the wolfs have no reason to be bloodthirsty as they’ve been. So somethings up, no doubt about that. All the while this is going down I’m standing there watching the horses a little way away from ‘em, when I spot one bastard trying to make off with one of the animals parked a little way of from where I’m standing. I spin around and of course: there’s a band of thieves crawling up on me. What follows is a quick and dirt melee. I was letting the bandits go, since they quickly lost the fight and were running off. Rest of the group were not that merciful and threw themselves at the fleeing bandits. Impressively they managed to did not kill the fleeing bandits, but captured them alive. This is where things got interesting, seeing as I didn’t know most of these people beforehand. At the drop of a hat some of our marry band of saintly adventures were ready to torture and use these bandits as human bait. Makes you wonder if they would kill a beggar for looking at them funny, cause there is something not right about making that proposal so hastily. Soon after the capture of the thieves our braggart would return to guide us on the remaining travel. We met the Baroness and stayed the night. Turns out the pack of bandits were not people stealing to make ends meet, but rather sell swords on a mission to destabilize the region. Got a bounty for that, so that’s nice. I got to admit it was a good thing the rest of the group caught them. Next day the crew spent a lot of the morning coming up with crazy plans to capture the wolves. The thing was that the Baroness was hoping we would find dire wolf pups as part of the culling, and she wanted them. The bonus for the pups was awfully appealing and the morning was filled with highflying ideas, most of which were ranged from terrible to simply unpractical. When it all settled down one person had bought a single net. And that didn’t even get used. On the other hand, Jewels, this “kick your ass in a bar fight” looking female dwarf had gone and gotten a dog. Hands down the single best move of the whole party. So now we had two leads. A small ruin close to a tiny village and the village itself. We started out with the ruins, and there was so much freaky stuff in that place. We found sealed glass containers with some magic freaky, living bug inside and corpses with bones like birds, hollow and light. We found tracks that went from human to wolf tracks, and remains of a handful of broken glass containers. Hanzo, Dain and Luca start pulling the floor apart and the whole floor gave in revealing a fresh looking cellar under the ruin. There we found magic shapeshifting pelts of wolves. Without a second thought the gnome put on one of the pelts. Thankfully the gnome does not loose himself to shapeshifting shenanigans. Honestly I was worried we had to put him down like some crazed animal once he changed, but he resisted and after a couple of seconds of furry hands the pelt fell away into dust, whatever life kept in it dying away to nothing. The lead had gone cold and the dog had gotten the scent of something and dragged us into the nearby village. I say village, but honestly it was a hamlet, built into the forest to hide it away from prying eyes. The whole place was deserted, fireplaces still warm after a quick retreat. We meandered around the place hoping to find some hints until we spot a villager trying to get a look at us. We corner the old man and after a while of pressing him for knowledge from the things we found in the ruin he caves. Two things became clear. First; the villagers were only avoiding us because they thought we were tax collectors or bandits. Second; they were part of a tribe from lands with no way near as much magic as the place they found themselves in now, and their traditional rituals and spells have backfired on them. Big time. The bugs in glass vials were a kind of captured nature spirit, that they would coax in to doing them favors. But the magic was too strong here and the spirits got too powerful to control. The old man was really worried that their village shaman would kill him for telling us, but we got most of the information we needed. Our milk run had gone from killing wildlife, to figuring out how to stop out of control malicious spirits with the skin of wolves. Oh joy. We followed some tips on how to find the shaman. She would be the one that knew the most of how these things worked and we needed all the help we could get. One thing led to another and we had to camp out in a cave for the night. Those spirits are dangerous stuff brother, I heard them in my head. While we were resting they singed to me, the most beautiful songs. They were playing every drop of fey in my spirit like a flute. I woke up from the songs and had quite the freak out. After I calmed my scared ass down Jewels reasoned that we should just tie me up and hope for the best. Fun thing that. Made me remember that Von Raermara chick. Remember her? She was into that kinda thing. Man that whole thing was such a disaster when the lord found out. Ah, fun times. Stay a noble I tell you, this whole adventuring getup is a crapshoot compared. Anyways, I wake up during the night, utterly and totally possessed. Thankfully those knots do their job. The cave is crawling with fey-like spirits. Bloodthirsty as all hell, but as long as we didn’t wander in any deeper into the cave we were fine. That morning we found the shaman, Anya. She cleared the situation up for us, and made it clear what we had to do. No word of what had happened was to get to the Empire. The Empire would tear apart their people and their homes in hopes of finding out how their magic worked. And to stop the spirits themselves we had to kill the bodies the spirits had taken over and stake them to the ground. Or else the spirits would simply jump to a new body and live on. Not long after that the wolf shapes had found us, or more accurate, now they felt like fighting. These spirits do not fuck around, they knew where we were for quite a while before they decided to group up to strike us down. We got ready and the showdown soon followed. What would follow was 7 or 8 of the blasted creatures came charging out of the forest. The wolves they possessed had turned under their influence. Now they were unnaturally large, ragged things. Bloodshot wide eyes, with a chilling air hanging around them and patches of fur were stiff with ice. During the fight they laid into Luca, his heavy armor saving his hide several times even though they swept him of his feet. Jewels was for a time possessed by the spirits, her body standing upright slightly wobbling while her eyes beamed with fury as she fought of her invader. Hanzo took a horrible beating as the spirits flanked him. It looked bad, our healer was trying to keep up and everyone was fighting like mad. I could only do so much to help them and was eventually struck down myself. I was as good as dead, I know it. A fucking monster was standing right over my body when I went down and haven’t it been for Anya I probably would not be writing this letter to you now. She healed me enough to get me on feet and by then the tide had turned. The beast where dealt with and everyone was still standing. We had done our part, and as thanks we got gifts from her. A single item of shapeshifting for each of us. Some got a feather of a songbird and some got a pelt of a wolf. There is no doubt that she was powerful in the arts, and wise to boot. We agreed on terms. The Empire would never know what we had seen and her village would pay taxes to the baroness. Like this they would get no more attention and Anya could keep the spirits under control without outside meddling. I told her that if she needed help in the future, she should send for us, and with that we left. I made it out alive once more. Cheers to that. Say hello to our siblings for me, and tell them to behave. Also, on the subject of bad influence, would you tell Meiko, Ava, Eliza, Miss Raermara, Luca, Bianca, the twins, Yseult and Nephele that I love them and miss them every day. All the best and all that: You’r useless scoundrel brother Tharn

Session 89: My first adventure in Maladon. A Gnomes tale part one of ??? Present: Sprocket Springhouse Aka CogNutz; Rock Gnome Sorcerer, lvl 1 (Simen) Tharn; Wood Elf Druid, lvl 1 (Nabaal) Hanzo Eberron; Human War Cleric, lvl 2 (Speedhawk) Tek Valorn; Half-Orc Fighter, lvl 3 (Chris) Dain; Dwarf Cleric, lvl 2 (Luchie) Jewels Baddarok; Angkaran Barbarian, lvl 2 (Zilarrezko) Luca Scipio Lupus; Shifter Fighter, lvl 2 (Wolf R I) Sprockets journal: After a long sea voyage in a little shoddy tub crammed with people(ofc sitting next to a big slobbering fat guy all the way) I found myself landed in the city of Haven. Apart from me and a friendly(ish) half orc named Brok, the ship was mostly filled with peasants and the like. On the docks there were what i assume representatives from various local Houses, most looked like the fighting ruffian sort, and they completely ignored me, There was however this robed old man with a beard who approached me, He said he wanted to study me and that he represented house White horse, having nothing better to do at the time i decided to humoured him and followed. He lead me to a old house draped with the Banner of the White Horse, apparently that’s the group that focuses on magic and the arcane arts around there. The old man asked me if i was some sort of technomancer.have no idea what that means, I should ask him about it later. He kept glancing at my Store'O'Zapper and said because of it i would not have to take some sort of test. I was shown up to a room filled with others like me, well not quite like me. and give a key to a chest. Hetold me i could stay here, as long as i didn’t fiddle with anything. apparently gnomes had come through here before and caused troubles. After having unpacked some of my things i whipped up a little Windup Toy thatresembles the old man, and during my free dinner i 'showed' it to him. while i found it humours he seemed to have been offended. It was then i was approached by a representative of a Baroness from Redvale about some job having to do with wolfs. i didn’t pay him much attention, but i did snatch up the flyer with the job info so no one else would get it. After finishing my brekfast, and eating the flyer for dessert i made my way to the meeting place designated from the flyer. There i met others who'd take up the job offer. There was Luca a tall man with shield about the size of himself.,Brok a Half ork hefting a massive two handed axe,Dain a dwarf with fantastic beard.,Tharn a raggedy looking elf,Jewels a dwarf with no beard,Hanzo a man with a love for strong drinks. and myself. The Baroness lacy provided us with horses and a special Donkey. There was some chitchat but i was busy handling my new donkey friend MR donkeyhorse. We then headed over to the mainland aboard a ferry manned by a crazy old kook who kept vaguest about whether or not folks came back alive. Once we made landfall and my stomach had finally settled a worn out looking soldiercame aboard telling us not to listen to the crazy man, While complaining about his damaged boots, before we headed off i fixed them for him with my mending magic, just like iv had to fix both my store'O'Zapper and other inventions from time to time, its a handy thing to know. The soldier told us his name was Kalem of the black lions, and he owed us a favour. Some of my companions took the crazed man up on his bet and left him with a bunch of gold and a huge smile. The trip to the red vale went by smooth, we did meet a sheep shepherd who gave us some clues as to where the wolfs we’re hunting might be. While talking with the man, Tharn spotted bandits who tried to run off with MR Donkeyhorse! while the Baronesses lacky was off ogling some barwench. But we caught them all and handed them over to the Baroness once we made our way to the Red Vale. They’re most likely dead by now. While enjoying some nice food at the Vale's inn the baroness came to see us, it was all very formal and unnecessary, after some more chitchat and awkwardness she left us to our meal and some reward money for bringing inn those bandits. We were provided with what they called fine beverages, but it tasted yucky, but i took care of that.Alto ugh not everyone found the beverage distasteful as Hanzo had more than his fill and passed out on the table. Brok was kind enough to drag him to where we got to sleep. The next day we enjoyed some really nice food and had a few laughs getting to know each other . I took a trip to the local blacksmith and i got to watch some iron being hammered, every ring of the anvil giving me Goosebumps. I left him a schematic for a more efficient furnace i do hope i liked it. I then had a walk around town with Luca, he seemed friendly enough. and after some quarrelling about bolas and nets we went and got ready to meet our local guide. He was a old worn man named Oldog, at least that’s what i named him. On our journey to look for the wolfs we came across an old ramshackle house, with dug up graves in the yard. Me and Luca went to investigate the house while the others had a look at the creepy graves. After rummaging around the first floor Luca insisted on me having a look at the second floor, despite it being half collapsed. Once i had squeezed my way through i searched the roofless second floor and found a ornate chest, inside which was a spell book in a strange language, and some plumes with some ugly ass insects swimming around in what looked to be syrup. I was shouted down from the 2nd floor by the Dwarf named Dain. he was apparently tracking magic, somehow. and informed me the vials were magical. as was one of the bodies in the grave. we found more of the plumes in the window , although they had been broken. Dain insisted there was something below us, and instructed Luca to tear up the floorboards. Fearing the ramshackle house would collapse i stepped outside, and just as i did a loud crash was herd from inside. Luca and broken through the entire floor and revealed a staircase, leading down into a dank basement littered with spoiled alchemy supplies, a magic ritual circle on the floor. Not to mention some wicked looking wolf pelts. I tried one of them on and my hands turned into wolf paws, which was pretty awesome, but they faded after a short while and left the pelt disintegrated, as if it was held together by magic which had been spent by me wearing i.e. should look into making something of the sorts, Luca seemed excited about me having wolf paws, Even came over and high fived me. Just as we were about to leave, Hanzo spotted some creepy looking neckless, and on closer inspection and some lecturing about religions i was told they were stillborn baby hands. so we left them where we found them and went outside to see what all the commotion was. Once outside Jewels tracking dog onyx had found some strange tracks and we decided to follow them. Onyx came to a halt once the wolf tracks turned into human tracks, no wonder he was confused, he hadn’t tried on one of those magnificent magic wolf cloaks. The human tracks lead us to a hidden village. But once we entered it thesmoke billowing from the chimneys suddenly stopped, and the whole placed felt deserted. After some telling for whoever just was here to come out, and rummaging through the houses someoneshouted in alert that there was someone there. That’s when we met Oleg, after a brief conversation about where the villagers had gone , learning the name of the village (Malham i think it was)and informing him that we were here to hunt wolfs, i saw that he was uncomfortable at the talk of wolves, and asked him if he had any of them magic wolf pelts that turns you into a wolf. Hearing this he stiffened and told us to speak with him indoors. After following Oleg to his house i sat down and listened to his sad tale about his people the russish. He told me about woodspirits called Voydoni who could possess living beings, and that they fed on blood. In their homeland magic is weak, and they used the voydonoi for their magic, but here they could not be controlled. And many of the spirits had gone feral. He also made it very clear that his people had no love for the Empire. Once he finished his tale i asked him further questions about the voydonoi and how they could be subdued. He told me of a old woman named Anya, who was their spellweaver, and that she was the only one that would be able to help answer our questions. He told me where we could find her and how to get to her. I'v told him about the old house and basement we discovered and he said that place belonged to Anya, the white leather journal i found also belonged to her. And that if we was to get to her we would have to go get the baby hand neckless. Fetishes he called them, they would lead us to her. And warned us that she might be angry about us taking her things and finding this place. But we'd just have to risk her wrath. I offered Oleg some coin for his help, but he refused saying its bad luck to take money for something any man should do. After my chat with Oleg i found that Oldog had wandered off, but the villagers had returned, i paid them no mind as i informed Dain and Hanzo that they should hide the Wolf pelts we had found in the old house, Hanzo insisted i hide his pelt in my backpack, and so i did. Her was some commotion from the rest of the party as strange bird was apparently observing the party for a while before flying off. With the hour approaching dusk we set off to retrieve the Baby hand fetishes and returned to Malham intending to spend the night, Oleg warned us that it might be a bad idia and guided us to some caves where we could stay, It was quite anice cave, i could see myself putting up my workshop in here, were it not for the bats. Speaking of bats Jewels squared one with his javelin and fed it to onyx, it was quit macabre.. Oleg appeared again later with a bowl of stew for us, he seemed sad that all he could offer us was two day old stew, but i thought he was a good person and since he would not accept my coin, i insisted he accepted my Clockwork Old wizard toy. He seemed genuinely excited about receiving such an item and thanked with a eager handshake before running off to show it to his grandson. Once the stew was eaten I huddled up with my Store'O'Zapper for warmth and drifted into sleep. In the morning Thorn raved on about singing in his head all night, and a naked little pixie woman blowing him a kiss. I was wishing my dreams had been about such pretty things when a flock of.. yeah naked little pixie women came walking down the cave, ROOF! just as we walked the ground they walked the cave celling. but they didn’t bother us so we didn’t bother them. After we had our fill of Olegs stew again, we set off towards the Bonewood where Anya was said to dwell. I was a little sadden to leave such a nice cave behind, maybe i'l return to it at some point. Having put on the magic baby hand fetishes, myself Dain and Hanzo lead the way, we dident know where we were going but something in our mind kept dragging us towards something. After a good amount of walking we came to a halt before a wall of thronbrushes.Thick as a wall they were, but the fetishes urged us to approach it. As we came near the plants withdrew and cleared us a path. The glade seemed ancient and creepy, so creepy in fact that Jewels dog Onyx ran off, with Jewels on its heels shouting back to us that she was not about to abandon the most expensive thing she’s ever owned. The party decided to leave her to it and ventured towards the grooves center. There was a stone hedge with some arcane circles inside, a narrow River that ended in a pool of clear blue water decked with floating flowers. We found what could only be Anya’s campsite but she was not to be found. After looking around some more i decided to shout out her name, telling her we’re here to seek her help. Hats when she appeared in the pool, it was quite the entrance. Anya despite Oleg’s warnings didn’t seem all that angered by our meddling, and once we had promised to not revealed anything of what we had seen and was about to be told to the Empire she told us the tale of the Voydonoi and how indeed some of them had turned feral from possessing wolves for so long, the wolf pelts we had found she had used to communicate with the rogue spirits trying to get control over them. She also told us that there was a sleeping water god in the pool and this grove held grate power, which must be kept out of the empires hands. As for a solution to the rogue Voydoni problem, it was tricky, because if the host was slain the spirits would simply possess the nearest thing they could find, but Anya had a solution of sorts to this and that was to use iron nails to nail the vessels to the ground, thus trapping or killing the spirit. After handing the party a bunch of nails she warned us to get ready for combat as the Voydoni had sensed us wearing the fetishes and was approaching the glade Luckily Jewels had chased down her dog and re-joined the group, and so we made ready for combat. Not sure what to expect i asked Brok to help me on top of the stone hedge, at least there i might be out of harms way and still have a clear view to bring my power glove to bare. The rest of the party took up defensive positions around Anya who stood in the centre of the stone hedge arcane circle channelling some spells. Luca braced himself with his mighty shield at the front of the others who formed up behind him. Tharn took up potion towards the back with me, and then the Voydonoi attacked. Its one of the scariest things i have ever experienced, the eerie howls, the cold fog seeping inn and the ferocity of the massive wolves attack. From my position i could see the entire battle take place, i did my best to help ,firing bolt after bolt of searing flame at the possessed wolves. Some fell before the combined blows of my fire and the varity of swords ,clubs, hammers and spears used by my comrades. Luca took on the brunt of their charge and held fast behind his massive shield despite being knocked over ,claws and massive slobbering jaws finding no purchase on his armoured form. Jewels was the first to have one of the fell creatures go down near her, and the spirit that rose from the slain wolf tried to take possession of her. But there was nothing the rest could do to help her, as the wolves had circled around and now surrounded them on all sides. Brok fought like a berserker chopping and slashing at whichever wolf dared stray close to him, While Dain tried his best to keep the others healthy. Things looked quite grim for a while, but eventually the wolves started to succumb to their wounds, this however left the spirits free to wander and Jewels was clearly trying to fight off the spirit inside her. As this became clear to the rest of the group they set about trying to nail the fallen bodies to the earth whilst fending off the ones still trying to kill them. The wolves being quite agile managed to get through the line and have a go at Tharn. He fought back and i thought he could handle himself so i aimed my power glove elsewhere, which was a mistake on my part as the wolf proved to much for him and Tharn got knocked down, just like Hanzo. But swift healing from Anya and Dain saw them both get back in the fight. And just like that we were victorious. All the Beasts had fallen, the bodies nailed to the ground. Jewels was herself again, and Dain saw to the injured, whilst the Raging Half ork calmed himself down. Whilst Luca crawled out from under his massive shield, not a scratch on him. The day was won and Anya helped us with safely removing the pelt from the slain wolves so we had something to bring back as proof of our deed, and to help confirm our story about them just being ordinary wolfs rather then the feral wood spirits that had possessed them. As not a word about what had transpired here was to reach the empire. Anya agreed to the Baronesses tax laws as it would help keep the empire from meddling in their affairs. Anya offerd each of us a reward, we had the choice between a magical feather that when broken would turn us into songbirds for up to an hours’ time. Or one of her magic wolf pelts that transform us into wolfs. I was quite happy about receiving a feather, since i already had a wolf pelt stored in my Store’O’Zapper. I returned her white leather spell book as the powers it contained was best kept with her, as was the plume containing the trapped Voydonoi spirit. She was nice enough to let me keep the old ornate casket, so now i have something to put my fingers to work with. And with that we left the grove and Anya in peace. On our journey back, the Half ork, Brok did something strange. He approached me with his waterskinn, emptied it in front of me, blew into it filling it with air and handing it to me. Saying that i should keep this with me at all time. I still don’t fully understand the meaning of this, could it be some strange ork custom? Or was he just jesting with me.i shall have to ponder on this once i return to Haven. We returned to the red vale and the baroness was told a tale of fell wolves and heroic fighting in their den. Which she seemed to believe, as we presented the pelts as proof. She handed out rewards as per the job agreement, as well as the reward for taking care of the source. Once that was all done we travelled back towards haven. And to the crazed ferryman’s disbelief we were all in one-piece and several of my party members got to collect a nice winning from their bet with the fool. My first couple of days in this new place sure has been strange. This white horse house is a strange place, and that old man keeps giving me the stink eye. I hope to find someplace with a nice workshop and likeminded individuals to stay with in the future. I sent that nice fellow Oleg a letter asking about his grandsons reaction to the clockwork toy i gave him, and how its going now that the voidonoy has beensomewhat dealt with. I hope to hear back from him soon. Iv also come across tales of a place recently discovered. A place said to be filled with the teachings and inventions of the Duregar. I will have to find out more about this place, maybe even get going on a scientific excavation to bring back some of their amazing technology. Sprocket Springhouse.(Simen M)
