I'm currently on the look out for 2-3 players willing to help me try out a home-brew campaign setting, humans only; for now, set in an age of discovery. Mankind has just begun to organize itself into small close proximity kingdoms. Most are fearful of magic, the clergy takes care of most military and spiritual matters, and few know little of monsters; outside of the occasional orc or goblin. I'm still working out a lot of the specifics of the world but, the known world is known as Sadrinell (sad-re-nel). The world is new up until 300 hundred years ago, in the current time frame, much of mankind was small villages and nomadic tribes. In few generations a spark of innovation and order brought about by the Order of the Maker has led to 4 kingdoms were formed: Nadarr, Lanra, Gobaak, and Cirindell. A few nomadic tribes worshiping various other deities, pursued and hassled by the Order of the Maker. Humans currently believe that they are the only race to accomplish these feats. Stories of strange beast and other races have stirred as rumors in the past but all have been silenced in time. Nadarr: It is the largest but smallest density kingdoms. Its capital barely breaches 20,000 citizens. It covers a large northern area of Sadrinell that is cold for a good two thirds of the year. It's primary exports are ore and timber. The people are honest but kind and the king is a man of the people, nomads or citizens. It is the last of the kingdoms to form and has the largest number of nomadic tribes. Lanra: The western kingdom; hot, dry, and cruel. During the very beginning of the kingdoms Lanra and Cirindell were at odds over lands and a small war broke out both forces even and at a standstill both gained and lost only to have the reverse happen. That is until the Order choose a side. The Order choose to end the quarrel. Taken the side of Cirindell, Lanra lost much. Now pushed below some of the southern mountain ranges of Nadarr, it is small and constricted by both the Order and Cirindell. It is mainly desert and small villages but it has a bustling city set into a mountain, an oasis of sorts. Gobaak: The wealthiest of the nations made up mainly of bustling cities and trade empires. Playing the middle man, it is the host of forms of shadier deals and decisions. Managing trade between all other nations those with the most money run the show, the royal family are figure heads although they may make final decisions on the laws, on many occasions greed peeks its ugly head. Cirindell: The home of the Order of the Maker, The Shimmering Crown, The second largest nation. A large walled metropolis marks its center it has all manner of climates and all manner of people. Many folk flock to it for its great abundance and opportunity. Home of the "High King." The Wilds: Any area outside of the four kingdoms that is not settled or claimed. Many nomadic tribes travel through these areas to avoid the Order. "The High King": A nickname for the current king of Cirindell. Renaudin Acuin. Order of the Maker: The organized faith to a deity known as The Maker. A heavily organized faith order with its own military, hierarchy, and sects. They have played a form of puppet master in the creation, settling, and expansion of the kingdoms. If something happened, ANYTHING, that would threaten their control they have dealt with it. They continue to hold control over magic casters of any kind taking them into their folds to keep an eye on them. Only a few rouge mages and the nomadic tribes have escaped their influences. The Maker: A deity believed to be creator of the world that choose humanity to be able to progress and create. Life, Light, and Order are its domains and a golden anch is its symbol.
