The Hills Have Homes

(Ooc my laptop is dead till I can fix some parts so I can rp but I will need someone to roll dice for me) I will stand guard tonight so you that are wounded can rest and heal.
Sleeping through the rest of the night with Raven on watch, you wake feeling a bit ragged, but happy to be alive.   Continuing on the trek, you have an uneventful morning.  Just after lunch, you top a hill and see what the scouts reported.  Houses built into the sides of the next hill.   Perception, Know: Geo, Know: Eng if you have them.

Frerin approaches carefully, trying to assert if there's anyone living on the houses. He also pays special attention to analyse the quality of the stonework and to try to discover something about who built them. Per 15 +2(dwarven trait to stone structures) 17 Know Geo 10 [ooc]  did we heal anything during the night? [/ooc]
Perception: [13] Destra seems more interested in her wounds than the structures. She awaits the others for their assessment of the structures.
You heal according to TRAVEL REST when you are traveling.   Travel Rest You can use downtime to rest and recover. It is assumed that you spend 8 hours resting at night, which allows you to recover 1 hp per level per day and 1 point of ability damage for each affected ability score. If you spend a full day of downtime resting in bed, you recover another 1 hp per level per day and another 1 point of ability damage for each affected ability score. Travel rest brings exhausted characters to fatigued after 8 hours and fatigued characters to normal after 8 hours. Using downtime in addition to a nights rest will remove both exhaustion and fatigue from a character (it gets shifted twice)
I think I have knowledge engineering can you check for me for Kirby?  If I do I roll that.  If not I still check out the buildings to see if anyone is living there and any other knowledge I can gather.
//ooc Sorry guys, I haven't been able to get on all day.  Finally, so here you go. As you get closer, you see a man.  An older man... hoeing?  He looks up, wipes the sweat from his brow, notices you and smiles.   You folks come on in for some tea.  Sal just put on the kettle.   Name's Lewis.  Lewis Barton.  An' your'n?
Destra squints and frowns at the old man.  She keeps her distance. Destra Farlight.  Is it just you two in these hills?  How and when did you get here?
I don't rightly see where it's any of your business when nor how we got here, missy.  Y'all can come get some tea or go on your way.  Ain't none of my never mind.
I could use some tea. Raven politely removes his helmet and walks over
Hullo oldtimer. My companion no offence meant, I am sure. I give thanks for the tea, but I'd prefer a talk, if I may be so bold. Thus saying, Frerin approached. My name is Frerin, and glad I am to meet you, Lewis
Well, y'all come on up to the house.  Sal's old bones are likely creakin' by now.  Some warm tea'll do her good.
You have my apologies Mr... Barton, was it? I am a slave to my curiosity and all too often it rubs people the wrong way.  I find it perplexing that an aged couple could survive in this wilderness for so long. You must be very resourceful.
\\OOC sorry I've been away all weekend...\\ Shinon walks forward and sees the man there.   Pleasure to meet you sir, my name is Shinon Trelles.   She said with a small smile on her face.   I would be most gracious to take some tea from you.
Thank you for your patience .. Kirby will wrap this up and get you your rewards tomorrow.  Due to unforeseen circumstances he has been unable to post today.  Thank you again for your understanding.
//ooc OK guys, sorry or the delay.  Let's get this done today.
Follow me on up to the house.  I saw Sal looking down at us, so she knows we've got comp'ny comin'.  You folks from around here?   Lewis looks back over his shoulder at you as he begins walking up the well-beaten path to the house.  As you walk up, you see several crops growing in well tended beds, as well as a few chickens and one nanny goat tethered out on top of the house.
Yes we just moved in down by the bay. Raven points over his shoulder toward town.

Not from here, no. I come from very, very far. But I plan to stay around. You? Come from afar too? Or are you from here, since little kid? Frerin accompanied the old man back to the house, trying to gauge by its stonework whether it was new, well maintained, and the quality of the stonecraftsmanship.
Lewis looks back intently.   Down by the bay, you say?   Well, here's Sal with the tea. You look on the porch and see an older woman.  She looks like a good match for this weathered farmer.  She has just set a clay pitcher on the table and has mugs ready for each of you. Well met, travelers.  We don't get much company these days.  Welcome to our home.
The tea is nice.  A sweet bitterness that rolls over your tongue.  After you've had time to quench your thirst, Lewis broaches the subject of trade. Me and Sal here, we're kind of low on a lot of supplies.  But we've got plenty of crops to trade.  Mightn't y'all be interested in workin' something out?   Roll Diplomacy, if you are interested in trading.

Dip 10 Well, sure something can be arranged. What supplies you need? Tools, potions? And what you grow? Frerin seems not to be accustomed to this sort of talk, though....

DIP: [17] I'm sure we can come to a suitable agreement. We're neighbors, after all. Destra politely refuses tea and discusses trading the crops for new farming tools or furniture, assuming the elderly couple have no use for gold.
Dip: 17 I can help anyway that I can.  Please let me know what you need.   She was still very new to here so helping anyway that she could, would help spread her Diety to this world also.
I am interested in crops.  What are you looking for in trade? (diplo 13)
I think we can work out a good arrangement.   Lewis sits back and smiles contentedly.   We can likely provide some vegetables and such in exchange for some chickens and maybe a cow.  Then we can work out some details on some other stuff.   Sal smiles a big smile and says, Why, that'll be the first cow's milk we've had since we left the settlement.  I'm surely glad you folks made your way out here.
When and why did you leave the settlement?
A sad look crosses Sal's face as she begins to speak.   We were some of the first settlers.  Our whole family came over on the first boat.  It wasn't the Kelpie then, was it Lew?   Sal looks to Lewis who nods in confirmation.   We had two beautiful children, Rufus and Matilde.  Everything was going so well.  At first...   She looks at Lewis again, who takes up the tale. It was going just like I planned, until the young'uns turned against us.  Even our own blood.   He spits as if to get the taste out of his mouth.   I kinda 'spected it from the boy, but not Matilde.   As he stands, his fists clench and he turns away.   They run us out.  They run us out because we was too blamed old...
We have been trying to find out what happened to the first settlers....When we got here the settlement was totally empty.  Nobody was around.  Do you know what happened to the rest of them?
Lewis and Sal look at each other, then Lewis turns to you.   Nope.  We haven't had any contact with them since the day they run us out.  Our own blood didn't even check on us.  Then they was just gone too. This concludes The Hills Have Homes mission. Each player will receive 1 MP. In addition, each player may choose one of the following: REWARDS: A) 1 cure light wounds potion B) Kelmortic Root (5 lbs) C) Fresh Food For 1 Month
No KP? darn I will take the fresh food for a month please
ooc what is a kelmortic root? /ooc
I'll take the fresh food for a month thank you!
//ooc: Kelmortic root is a mild hallucinagenic that can be made into a tea.  If I hadn't had a major delay, we would have rollplayed some hallucinations.
ha awesome! I'll have the roots then.
