[LFP] Star Wars: Dangerous Allies (WEG)(d6)(Mondays)(7PM CST)

Star Wars: Dangerous Allies Description: An extragalactic species known as the Yuuzhan Vong has invaded the Known Universe at the height of the Clone Wars. Bail Organa is now Chancellor of the Galactic Republic and has entered into an uneasy alliance of convenience with the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Though Palpatine is in seclusion, Count Dooku with his apprentice Ventress lead the CIS while Lord Grievous leads the droid armies. The Jedi order is starting to lose public support in the face of an enemy that cannot be affected by the Force. The Hutts are hiring mercenaries at an alarming rate and have unveiled their previously unknown fleet. Corellia continues to work feverishly to get Centerpoint Station to work, while other galactic states such as the Hapes Cluster and others maneuver for political gain. A new Force philosophy and its adherents have appeared. The galaxy is both old and new with opportunities for players to make their mark on the universe and create their own stories that matter. Current Adventure: The group is sent to the planet NEW HOLGAH to render aid to a Jedi general on the planet fighting against SEPARATIST elements. While approaching the planet the group sees a task force of mysterious analogs approaching. The mission is now to find the Jedi general and get him off the planet. Will he leave before his mission is completed? What are the mysterious ship analogs? Character Creation: I would prefer that characters be presented before the first session. The first session will be a Zero Session wherein we will complete character creation, figure out how the different characters are bonded to one another and why the group is together. If we have time, we will also play an introductory adventure. What I Expect: First off is commitment. We will be playing once a week for three or more hours. If you join and cannot make it I expect you to let me know. If you miss the first session or it becomes an ongoing issue, I will speak with you and/or eject you from the game. I am not an unreasonable person, I understand that real life responsibilities take precedence and that schedules can unexpectedly change. All I ask is that players be respectful and inform me in a reasonable amount of time. Respect and focus. Be courteous to one another treat one another as you would want. We can joke around and have fun, but blatant disrespect will not be tolerated. Joking is fine, but we have a set amount of time and I do not wish the game to get off course. I run my games in scenes, trying to cut out the stuff that slows things down or is boring. Sometimes I will narrate out a scene and ask a player to elaborate what they see, hear, smell, etc. This is the players opportunity to describe what they are seeing in their head and actively add to the narration of the game. I want my players in first person as much as possible. I understand with new people there will be questions about game mechanics. Some things I do not want to see for example: the group comes up to a locked blast door. The players immediately start asking each other who has the highest Security skill. I would prefer players describe what they are attempting to do, I really don't like when a players asks, "can I do ...?" You can attempt to do whatever within reason. I will tell you what skill to roll and as a GM figure out what the difficulty number will be. I really want my players being more concerned about playing their character and being immersed in the story than worrying about mechanics. The group are heroes and I expect them to act accordingly. Does this mean they have to follow the laws? That there is no room for conflict or "gray" areas? Not all. It does mean the group will support and actively help one another. Conflict makes for good roleplay but not to the point where players do not trust each other. Again, think heroic. What You Should Expect: I am an old man and I have many, many years of experience playing and running tabletop roleplaying games. I am a competent storyteller and I am intimately familiar with the game mechanics. I normally do not run sandbox games but what I call interconnected serial adventures with meta-plots. My games are narrative heavy and the majority of it will take place in the theater of the mind . I do not use maps very often, even in combat. I will put a number of images up on the tabletop. These will not be exactly what the characters see, but are similar and there to help the players visualize how the scene may possibly look. We will try to start promptly and I will do my best to keep the group on task during the session. I am approachable. I do not know all there is in running tabletop games or group dynamics. I will make mistakes from time to time and I am always looking to improve. Communication is key. I will make available multiple ways in which to keep in contact with me throughout the week. Rule System: Star Wars D6 REUP by West End Games Rules Download: Click [ HERE ] Day: Mondays Running Time: 3+ hours System Knowledge: None Minimum Maturity Level: 18+ Voice: Google Hangouts or Skype For those who are curious about what you need to know to play the game please refer to the Player Handout section on pg.14-17 of the rules provided in the link above. Once you do that there are two ways to create a character. Creating a character from a template, the easiest and quickest way, refer to pg.19-22. For those who are a little more confident you can create your own character from the ground up, refer to pg.23-25. There are lots of examples to show you how to do things. Below are links to a two session game I ran some time ago. I have changed some things since then, but this is to give an example of play, game mechanics and how I like to run my games.
