[Burning Wheel] Wednesdays, weekly, starting around 10am Pacific

Ahoy, all! I want to start up a weekly game of Burning Wheel Gold  on Wednesdays I am happy to either be a player or GM. If I do GM, I will go as low as 2 players or as high as 4. Timing is key! Since I have a nightly work schedule, I need to start my games in the morning, so that I have time to get ready for work afterwards. I prefer to play for 3-4 hours, so 11:30am PST is my firm start time cutoff. I would be willing to start as early as 9:30am PST. Europeans, this is probably gonna be your gig! About me as a GM I have played and/or run Burning Wheel nearly every week for years, so I am very experienced with the system. I am also a slavering fanboy who loves it to death, and I will defend its honour at every turn. For this game, I would ask for players who feel similarly. You don't have to be at the brainwashed, drink-the-KoolAid level that I am, but you at least have to like and respect the system and what it can do. I find when players fight with the system, it drags the fun of the game down immensely for everyone. As far as rules knowledge, a passing familiarity is all that I need from you. It's easier to teach people how to play this game than it is to teach them how to like it. Like it first, then come to me :) I have a few vague ideas for what kind of game I would be willing to GM, but rather than pitch them now, I'll just list off what inspires me. Books   Robin Hobb's  Realm of the Elderlings series Ursula K. Le Guin's Earthsea series China Mieville's Bas-lag setting, specifically The Scar Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings Movies & TV Princess Mononoke Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind Black Sails Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy (But not The Hobbit ) Other stuff I like Mountains in general. They're frickin' sweet. Ravens and other corvids. If my partner let me and they didn't have boltcutters for beaks, I would probably adopt one. Wolves, because, y'know, wolves! Not gonna' lie here, I like classic fantasy tropes. Monsters, fantastic places and twists thereof. I love me some trolls and dragons and flying cities. My GMing style is enthusiastic and entertaining. I love tragedy and I will push on your character's beliefs mercilessly, but I will always remain your character's biggest fan. I like a good mystery, but I won't do the trail-of-breadcrumbs leading up to a grand " GOTCHA " moment. I suck at games like Call of Cthulhu or Dark Heresy. I'm not smart enough for them. I won't keep secrets unless it is totally necessary to the fiction or to your beliefs. The illusion of me knowing what's around the next corner is simply that, an illusion. I play to find out what happens. As I mentioned before, I love BWG's rules and will adhere to them as much as humanly possible, but I won't bog things down with my nose in the book for more than a moment. If you catch me grinding the game down like that, give me a virtual slap or send me some anthrax in the mail or something. If you are interested and not scared off already I will need you to be rather punctual, enthusiastic and willing to laugh or smile once in a while. You'll need a working microphone. Webcams are strongly encouraged. You also need to be willing to adhere to boundaries regarding sensitive topics for all players involved. If you already think you love Burning Wheel without having played it—perhaps by watching  This game or  This demo, run by the game's designer —I would love to chat with you, and probably would love to game with you! Game page TL;DR: Beliefs... Swords and Beliefs. And Fun.
Also, my Tuesdays just opened up for the same time slot, and my (currently) only player has said that Tuesdays work for him as well.
I'd be up for either Tuesday or Wednesday, and being in the UK the timing is great. John
Oh, this sounds pretty sweet! I'd definitely be interested! Time is perfect for me in CET and you already hit all the important points in your description that are important to me, as well: Play to find out what happens, hard on the BITs and wanting to engage with the actual system of Burning Wheel. I don't have extensive experience but GM'd The Sword a couple of times and played in a Burning Empires game.
Sent you both messages. :)

If you're still looking for players, I'd love to join. I've been watching Adam Koebel's campaign since it started (although I'm not caught up!) and have been dying to sink my teeth into Burning Wheel for just as long. My modest tabletop experience largely consists of Dungeons & Dragons 5E, but I roleplayed via text for about a decade and my passion in life is writing poetry and short (SF) fiction, so I'm able to create and direct compelling characters. Emotionally moving, character driven stories are what keep me breathing. The only snag is that I'm a few months shy of your 25+ player age preference, but I'll see what I can do about inventing a time machine between now and the first session, just in case that's the deciding factor!

Hi Rya. I'm terribly sorry I didn't close this thread, but we are unfortunately at my maximum GM player-capacity for the time being. I would love to keep you on my list of future Burning Wheelers. It's possible I will be starting up a Tuesday game with a friend in the coming months. Would that maybe work for you?
Also, Monday might be available.
