Well... they are not truly gods if I remember correctly they are simply people who have devoted themselves in the afterlife to become avatars they do carry devine power though.
Look, I am not the GM but I think, if it would turn you good and there was no "selling" involved that it is more likely to be okay. I think Cain follows the Oath of Devotion (and has publicly hinted at this); you can read the Tenets of that Oath on page 86 in the PHB as well as what happens if you break them. That way you can make your own informed guess and ignore mine ^^ Edit: Also I obviously can't speak for Cain's decision.
@Ernie; your own blood could be used, but would result in permanent HP loss. 10 HP per level of the spell in fact. @Sloth; you need a holy symbol containing a tiny drop of blood from each avatar in order to use the aura. You could gain these by doing quests related to each sect that worships each avatar. @Syvil; the mission is appropriate and should be suitable for your levels, though note that bad planning or execution could really place you all in danger. This also ends more than one story line. @Ernie; temples would not sell such a rare and precious thing to layfolk nor allow any of their followers to do so.
Oh goodie more things for Cain to take care of then this would be a great trinket to have. A boon of light fighting off the darkest of times. (At least the way Cain would see this) I am curious how this would react in the barrier of the fish men.
hm hm... @ stephen... from the book I have I infer that there needs to be some sort of ritual to be able to do the blood magic, right? I mean otherwise whenever I kill somebody I could go on use that opportunity to cast a spell in haven...
