The Topaz Championship is the most prestigious gempukku ceremony in Rokugan. It is held every spring in the Month of the Serpent in the village of Tsuma in the Kakita Provinces of the Crane Clan. Contestants from all of the Great Clans, as well as those from minor clans or ronin who have a sponsor among the Great Clans or Imperial Families, competed in diverse skill tests that ranged from composing haiku to Iaijutsu duels.Players will be participants in the 1118 Topaz Championship. Character creation will follow the regular rules with some exceptions. The Mantis, Wasp, Fox and Centipede clans are still minor clans, and some families that were destroyed or changed allegiance are still in their original clan. The game will begin with a focus on character development and interaction, before broadening the scope and allowing players to interact with Rokugan at large, working in the mass battle system and more sinister enemies.
