I saw a lfg post on here that requires payment from the players. It claims that he has permission from roll20. This is awful, because it sets a standard that people who don't get paid are considered amateur. This discourages new GMs from starting and current GMs from playing without payment. It pressures GMs to do things to get paid. In addition, it makes the players question the GM to justify payment. While I dont care if people want to be "professional" GMs, it should not be allowed on roll20. These are games and should be enjoyed by all players, even the GM. This kind of thing turns a friendly community into a series of monetary transactions.
Hiya Coercion, Roll20 has always kept a neutral stance on player interactions as long as the Terms of Service are followed.  The devs have always prided themselves on a universal platform that players can use to play tabletop and any other game they can conceive of.  They take great pains not to cater to any one game type or brand. What arrangements players make with their GM's and vice versa is between them. "Permission" is neither granted nor denied, really.  It's not even needed. Roll20 is just an interface to bring folks together to enjoy our collective hobbies.  This topic comes up now and then, and basically boils down to "to each their own".
Professional Gamemasters have been around longer than Roll20 and it hasn't caused the world to end. It's not going to cause Roll20 to implode either.
Greetings  Coercion - Mark G is spot on, thanks for expressing your concern. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.
