Revenance sits cross legged in a desert. It's a bit out of the way here, but it's a safe place to meditate & practise without the worry of starting major wild fires or anything. He's been worrying a bit about the whole "prophesised to end his homeworld" thing. Despite leaving, his power of hellfire has clearly still been growing, and he's not convinced that's a good sign. But he needs power to resist those who would control his fate. The Cult is unlikely to stop looking for him. With his magic coming naturally to him, he's never studied magic to great depth. But he has picked up the basics. Symbolism Matters. He's tried to shift his nature from fire to its utter opposite, and it's an approach that hold promise. But it's hard, and not something he's managed to do reliably. So perhaps a different approach? If his internal powers are fire, perhaps an external power source of cold will help? He lifts up his arm, and crushes the crumbly stone in his fist. Immediately, ice envelops his arm up to the elbow, before melting away as quickly as it formed. A quick test blasts a patch of ground nearby with enough cold to chill to the bone.... …which then erupts in fire. Revenance sighs. He's about to give up for the day, when a thought strikes him. He's heard that heating & cooling material in rapid succession weakens it. What about doing both at once? It takes a little bit of trial & error, but the outcome is definitely more than the sum of its parts.... Revenance is now an Essence Mage.
