DM Looking for players, 3.5 +Home brew world

1378608076

Edited 1378679783
Intro: Howdy Folks, My names Aaron im 35 and have been playing/running D&D off and on for the last 20 years or so. Took a long unfortunate break during my 10 year stint in the U.S. Cavalry till i was blown up and had some free time on my hands I will admit im a little rusty on certain rules but i imagine its just like riding a bike and most of the time the players know almost every rule about their character :-). Love running home brew campaigns but pretty new to Roll20. This seems like a fantastic platform to tell a story with. My campaigns are generally 50/50 RP/Combat so if your a hack and slasher I may not be the best choice to run your campaign. Though some of my rules may be a little more strict than your average campaign I always shoot for an adventure filled well thought out campaign that's sure to leave the hair standing up on your neck. If it were a perfect world I would ask that all my players be 18+ years of age and that once we commit on a particular day to game everyone shows up and shows up on time (EDIT: DAY SELECTED IS WEDNESDAY 7PM EST-?). I would like a group of 4 to 5 players, will make exceptions under special circumstances:-) we will use ROLL20 chat for voice coms, can use teamspeak 3 if all players prefer while gaming a working headset is required. If you respond to my add please put down the days and time that would best work for you (EST) so i can find a agreeable time and assemble our party. personally I am looking to play 1 day a week but could manage 2 if required. We will be using obsidian portal to track full character sheets (I have a subscription so all players have access to full tool box) MY Rules: Standard Races: Human, Elf(No Drow), 1/2 Elf, Dwarf, & 1/2 Orc. Gnomes and halfings are O.K. however they do not play a major part in this world. Want to be a pixie? go find another campaign :-)~ Classes : Would prefer any of the basics but will work with you if you have your heart set on something. If it involved the word dragon forget about it Dragons are myth and legend. OR are they? For the love of Gary Gygax please no Lawful Good characters, I try to be unbiased, i really do.... but when a goodie 2 shoes starts meddling around i see fireballs.. What Erk's the DM: Answer: MIN MAXERS! I know everyone wants to have the most powerful character they can but this is absolutely unnecessary. You will grow into what you were meant to be, flaws make a character memorable. I would rather you play a character that you can really get into and more importantly one that those around you enjoy playing with. Campaign Setting : This setting provides dozens of sprawling nations, opulent cities, vivid characters, political intrigue, guilds and secret societies to keep even the most experienced role players on their toes. Currencies, language, religion, technology, crafts, guilds, foods, governments, legends and much more are "seeded" with potential plots and adventure hooks. Dozens of races share the world, . Learn how the saurians dispose of their dead or how the Borrellian clans survive the harsh winters of the northern peninsula. Dance at a grumman festival, sail the high seas with a Mercian pirate, shop the bazaars of Drakkel or hunt the legendary torgat with a Normidian lord. Come explore the World. The Physical World: much like Earth. It is a small, life filled world adrift in the vastness of space. It has wide blue oceans, snow capped mountains, islands, forests, deserts and lakes. It has four seasons, two tides and other familiar patterns of weather, time and nature. But cataclysmic forces have reshaped this world. Whole continents have been reforged, forests have burned up, rivers have changed course and mountains have risen. The world has been shaped even by the hand of man as nations have taken to the battlefields and unleashed horrific magical forces upon the lands. Centuries have passed since the world has been drawn forth from the fires. The landquakes have ceased, the forests have flourished and life has filled every niche. What is left is a world of incredible beauty and variety. Excerpt: *Strapped to a scarred wooden table by leather wrist and ankle restrains lays a boy of no more than 10 years of age. His chest has been carefully sliced open, the exterior skin rolled back like a fragile piece of vellum and pinned down by a thick silver needle. Once fresh internal organs now riddled with a cornucopious amount of small white worms. Judging by the the child's mangled wrists it is apparent that he tried to free himself of his restraints. Just after you choke down the horror or... what may have been your lunch the boy slowly turns his head to the side and locks his gaze upon you. A single tear rolls down his already stained cheek ... his lips are barely moving but no sounds comes out.* Thank you for reading my post, Hope to hear from some of you soon

It's extremely easy just set in/output to voice/video and chat. O and avatars have to be small at least (name only doesn't work)

Novice player here, I've done a few quick games and I'm currently in two campaigns. Still pretty new and unfamiliar with some things but willing to play plenty more DnD. If you could state the setting or theme that would be much appreciated as I'm interested in a good setting.
Depending heavly on when I am interested. I will come right out with my age 33. With that out of the way:) your campaign sounds fun and I would love to know more. Though if i get to play you will have to forgive me when I make Pathfinder mistakes as that is what I use in the games I run these days. Though I have DMed and played in the original 3.5 as well.
very new to DnD, played a couple of ADnD games back in middle school, but really itching to find a game to get into on a regular basis. if you dont mind someone as wet behind the ears as i am, id love to join. oh, and im 25 lol.

I'm a 22 YO guy who's an RPG veteran but I've never played D&D. I've always loved the idea of tabletop games and tried to play Pathfinder with friends but after about 5 different campaigns failed to launch after a couple of sessions, I gave up. I'd love to get into a solid campaign! I'm actually pretty outgoing and really enjoy conversing and RP in the campaigns I have dabbled in. I have all the comm programs that would be needed as well as a webcam. My only restriction is that I have a very odd work schedule so I could only commit to a single day if we were to meet during the week and bi-weekly (every other week). I understand that's really constricting, but let me know if that works! Thanks!
Well, if there is more dark, grittiness to be had (judging from your excerpt) then I'm definitely interested. I'm available Monday through Wednesday and Friday nights. I unfortunately have problems using roll20s comms (my computer actually blue screened last time I tried). I do have skype and teamspeak.

If the campaign was to take place between 1:00 and 6:00 pm EST I could manage though! Sorry, I know this is hard to fit in.

Im in a campaign now fri at 8pm. very interestede in being involved in you campaign.
I have been playing / DMing D&D since 1974 and would love to play in a homebrew world, as over the decades I have Read, Played, or DM'd most pre-made Modules. I have access to SKYPE, and own a TS3, Ventrilo, and Mumble server, I have also got myth-weavers.com, and epicwords.com accounts. 8PM EST any day is fine for me as i'me in the UK and that's EST+5h. If you need any more info just PM me.
Hi, I'm 33, and I am a second generation gamer. I started "reading" 1st edition AD&D books when I was less than 4 years old, and I've both played and DMed every edition of D&D as well as playing a number of various other rpgs. That said I am confident in saying that i have a solid gaming background. I am new to Roll20 though. Today is my first time really looking at it, so I will need a little time to acclimate. I'm between job sites at the moment so I don't really know what my schedule is going to be like in the upcoming future however I generally try not to work on Sundays. For now I'm available pretty much any evening 8 or later. 8PM EST works fine for me whatever day the game winds up being on. A 50/50 rp/combat balance is my general preference, and I'm good with PHB races and classes. I too would like to hear more setting and background info as well as creation method, and starting level. If starting above first level would you mind pre-existing characters? Please let me know if you are interested in having me in your game. Thank you, Joshua Gazaway Sir_Joshua_Gazaway@yahoo.com
Never expected so many responses, its so hard to decide on players without feeling bad for leaving some out. I am still putting things together and like I mentioned am new to ROLL20 myself so still tinkering with the software. Will be editing this post to include some world detail. Any of you virtual gaming veterans know a convenient place for players to keep full 3.5 editable character sheets? I know its easy to put the basic and pertinent info on the roll20 sheet so that modifiers automatically add to dice rolls, but not freezable to enter every detail like individual skills and feats. Normally I would never start at level 1 however I have a buddy that is trying to jump into the "tabletop world" & I do not want to rob him of that "memorable" i'm a fragile dove @ level 1 experience :-) I can promise you that XP will come relatively quickly till about level 5 though PREmades are ok if you roll them back to level 1 :-) HA is that still even considered a premade!? NOTE: Looking for a player well versed in the 3.5 rule system who is willing to help players (and the rusty 3.5 DM:-) out from time to time with generic rules. Please visit my initial post for updates when able as I tend to itit it multiple times a day :-)

Aaron, in response to the character sheet: Most people know about myth-weavers.com, which has editable character sheets. There is also obsidianportal.com, which is a wiki-type site, where you can put up information about your campaign world, as well as a section for editable character sheets. Either is a good option, with obsidian portal having more than just character sheets, if that is what you are interested in. Just thought I would chime in with that, since you had asked. The idea of playing 3rd edition again intrigues me, but you have plenty of aspiring players already, so I will keep my hat on my head. :) I am just too used to Pathfinder. Anywho, good luck on the difficult choice of picking who gets to play. And I hope you have luck in keeping people, as people seem more apt to drop an online game than they are a face-to-face game (I know that all too well).
Feeling solid on campaign setting, looking to choose players (maybe even link up with them in my campaign desktop for toon creation sometime tonight

And having the sub gets you the forum, which really helps, in my experience.

I'm very interested in playing in this campaign if space is still available. E : Sent you a pm.
Time set is WEDNESDAY's @ 7PM EST - ? sorting through posts, please don't hate me if I don't message you theres just to much interest
3 of the 5 players have been selected still looking for 2 more 7pm est Wednesdays, still looking through previous posts to see if any of you who posted fit the time requirement
Wednesday 7PM EST is good for me if i am still under consideration.
Wednesdays @ 7 would have been so perfect for me. But, there has been quite the interest. So, if ever you would happen to need a replacement (or if any of the others can't make that time), I would like to throw my interesting hat in. 32 years old, and have rusty knowledge of 3rd edition rules. So, if you need another, I am here for consideration.
Richard Z. said: Wednesday 7PM EST is good for me if i am still under consideration. AHHH Richard! I received a lot of PM's wanting 7PM so it filled up quickly. Would you be OK with being a standby in case one of these players fail to show up for character creation? I'll be honest your impressive RP experience scares me a little :-) I only wonder if i can live up to your expectations.
