Anima - A very open, very fun game. Playing now.

@Manfred I must be mistaken then. I've read posts (in other forums) and seen youtube reviewers mention Anima, so I assumed it was gaining momentum. My bad. BTW, I've been reading the rulebook, and out of curiosity looked at the char sheet in the back. Now that is one intimidating char sheet. Also, I noticed myth-weaver doesn't have a sheet for Anima yet, where do you guys do your sheets at? As a text doc? I'm gonna' be playing as a non-magic healer/ aikido monk type dude (if a spot becomes available).
Here's a character sheet you can find online - http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/anima-rpg/media/anima-character-sheet.pdf It looks intimidating but I assure you, you're only going to use about half that space for your character, less if you don't rely on supernatural abilities. Me, I just use a Word file for my character sheet - it's easier to edit and you only have to include the things that matter to your character.
Hey all, I've been busy this past week with christmas and all but I'm still interested to play.A little bit about my character his name is Joji Tukimi and hes going to be playing the role of the taoist. Joji is a paicifist at heart and will only fight to protect himself and his companions. Even though he is a Taoist hes pretty bad at fighting. He travels the world in the hopes of becoming strong. Thats pretty much what I got so far what do you guys think?
I like it, Corki. My own character is a Jayan Weaponsmaster.
@C4D_Corki - That's an interesting character concept, and a cool way to approach the Tao. My advice for you is this: 1) Pick up a whole bunch of Martial Arts. Tao are the #1 best martial arts class, and it shows. The first martial art you purchase only costs you 10 DP, and all others cost you 20 DP - a huge discount from the normal 50 DP cost they entail. You can also trade in your free weapon training you get in any weapon group for a free Martial Art, so feel free to do that if you don't plan on using weapons at all. Martial arts give you bonuses to all sorts of things, like attack and damage, different methods of dealing damage in combat, defensive maneuvers, and most importantly Martial Knowledge points, which leads me to my second piece of advice... 2) Pick up a bunch of Ki abilities. Tao are the #2 best Ki users in Anima, only falling behind the Technician - he might have the advantage in raw Martial Knowledge and Ki access, but you more than make up for that with your martial arts. Every martial art gives you between 10 and 30 martial knowledge, and you get 30 free Martial Knowledge per level, so you should have about 60 MK at 1st level and receive another 5 or so per level thereafter. I cannot understate how useful Ki abilities are - from running on water to concealing your presences, from healing yourself to increasing your stamina ten-fold, even the passive Ki abilities are INCREDIBLY useful. You can also choose to take Dominion techniques, which can serve as incredible finishers and "break in case of emergency" tools when the fight is going south. 3) Don't neglect your Creation Points. You can buy some really useful advantages with them, including faster Ki recovery. For 3 CP, you can speed up your Ki recovery from 1 per hour to 1 per minute - 60 times faster. In Dominus Exxet, there's an advantage for 2 Cp that allows you to accumulate Ki at full speed while also fighting in combat - super useful if you plan on using Dominion techniques. I would advise you not spend any CP on Bonus Martial Knowledge though, because you can easily get more DP by learning more martial arts. 4) Consider where your character is from. If you're looking for guidance, my character lived in Lannet for about 5 years (Anima's version of Japan), where she learned Tai Chi). There, Ki powers are very well accepted into society and users are viewed with great honor. Your character might have grown up in Lannet and met my character there, and since he wants to travel the world to become strong, decided to travel with her to the main Western continent in order to learn more martial arts and (possibly) return to Lannet a true master. My character always enjoys having companions with her, and a pacifist would definitely fit in perfectly. My character also uses Ki to help center herself and her magic, so perhaps your Tao taught her Tai Chi to that end. It's just a suggestion. @Mythrii - A Jayan Weaponmaster? Remind me never to get on your bad side :D It's a good thing we have a healer in the group then. I don't know your character's backstory, if I knew more maybe we could figure out how our characters know each other.
Are we playing tomorrow? If so, we should all send out our Skype info if this game is happening tomorrow. I can help build characters faster on Skype, and it'll be a good test run for the actual game. Kenny, if you could respond and confirm the game status that would be really encouraging.
It'll be tomorrow, 2 PM AK/ -9gmt. (Friday, 21st) Corki, at level one you'll have at most three or four martial arts, it has to do with how high your combined Offensive an Defensive abilities are, Attack and Block rather. For every 40 points, you can buy a new Martial Art. If Clarke didn't help you build your character I still have the pre-made set up in-game, juss choose the martial arts you want and I'll apply bonuses. Another note: I'm sorry for being absent so much, I've been rather ill. I also throw freight and stock shelves at a store up here, it being the week before and of Christmas, I've been very busy and very tired, having to work whilst sick. I'll be around more from now on, or at least try to be. The game will go on, I'm on Skype now, kenny.larson671 . Go ahead and add me or however it works, or post yours here and I'll add you. I need: Clarke P. Manfred Flamsez Mythrii (kinda) Corki Kamisan If you can't show up don't worry, I might be able to get you into the next one. We only really need three players, but I'd like four, so don't feel bad if you can't come.
I'm running through some quick combat at this time with Corki and Clarke P. Anyone interested can hop in.
There is no link - how do we join
'Twas for those whom already have the link.
The short combat sequence was nice - it illustrated the basic mechanics of Anima, and it helped us get our Macros working properly. Overall, it's clearly very important to figure out how your character works and what you have to roll in advance, as well as planning your turns. Different characters also get different numbers of action depending on their sum of Agility and Dexterity, so you might have anywhere between 1 and 4 actions on your turn. Corki rolls ridiculously high - about half of his rolls were over 90 on the d100 during the game. He's a very powerful melee attacker. My character maybe had some incorrect math, but regardless she's a pretty powerful defensive mage. Seriously looking forward to tomorrow!
The game is starting in about 40 minutes so if you said you wanted to play contact Kenny on Skype. If you haven't made a character but are interested in playing, we have pregenerated characters (that are AWESOME) so you can play as one of those for now.
Shameless Bump. If you want in on the Anima game, now is the time! Join the game now and we'll set up Skype with you.
Yeah anyone willing to join the game we have pre gen characters from you to choose from for you can get use to the system.
