Chat log too bloated to view

Without really knowing better, i've allowed my chat archive to become too large to load. I've tried accessing it from the Campaign front page, the campaign chat box and after loading the background for the page and the hide/show whispers button it simply freezes up and stops. As far as i can tell no one in my group can access it. I'd love to get this back, before i clear the archive - if there is any solution i am missing. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

While this is closing the door after the horse has bolted I regularly copy mine to an offline text document so that I can keep it trim. However that being said it can sometimes just take time to load and while it may seem like it has frozen it may just be ticking away in the background, even if the prompt to kill the window comes up just wait it out, if it doesn't load after many minutes then your original fears are true... sorry.
somehow one of my players have managed to salvage a copy, so the threshold was yet uncrossed. Thanks for the advice, i will follow it in the future. I apologize for this, i had not realized how close a player was to fixing it when i posted. This can be closed / locked now.

Not a problem at all, a happy ending is always worth sharing :) For future reference a chat log can get easily bloated if a lot of pictures or graphic based text elements (roll templates, powercards etc) are used. Also dice rolls retain their roll information too which can soon make a log sluggish. I tend to clear mine every 2-3 months in my long running weekly game. Happy rolling.
