Link Looking for one more. Already ran one session. The Solar Empire stretches from corner to corner of all the known realms of Lawful men (or, at least, all the ones worth knowing). They worship Sol Invictus, the Indomitable Sun, and name almost everything after him in their fanaticism. They believe their empire should touch all corners of the world, just as the sun itself does. Alba is referred to in Solarian writing as the Isle of Forests. Once completely covered in black and dark forests, the only true settlements of man on the island were of Alban stock cowering in small walled villages The rest was the woods belonging to the beastmen and their foul Pictish kine. The Solar Empire liberated them, freeing them from the foul oppression of these chaotic monstrosities. They cut down the trees that hid them and slaughtered them in their dens where they found them. Eventually they drove them far north, into the Pictlands. The wall known as Carcer's Triump was built to keep them from invading en masse as they undoubtedly would. The entirety of the south of Alba was transformed into a breadbasket for the growing empire, a place of tranquility and peace in hectic times. It fed the empire and allowed it to grow beyond it's limits. It wasn't long before the empire began to strain and struggle and the Empire started to fracture. The plans to settle the north of Alba were abandoned, leaving it to the few tribes still dwelling there. It didn't take long for Carcer's Triumph to be breached, soon enough being renamed Carcer's Folly. The beastmen now inhabit everything except for the far south, the area between the south and Pictland becoming known as the Wilder Deep, filled with the last few remnants of the Alban tribes living there and a panoply of monstrosities. The Solar Empire struggles as it faces an incursion the likes of which it has never seen, even as civil war sets brother against brohter. The Twilight Kingdoms chant cruel songs as they perform sacrifice far to the south. The Geats raid the coasts of the Empire once more, their ancient treatise abandoned in favour of plunder. Whilst there was a time of peace, there is a new time coming. It is a time of adventure and of conquest, a chance for those strong of arm and will to be able to make their mark and carve out their own empire. This is your time. Setting The setting is, at the start, an island in the style of ancient Celtic Britain on the very edge of a world spanning (as far as you know the world) empire called the Solari Empire. The Empire is crumbling, Alban is a mess filled with chaotic monstrosities and everything is horribly, horribly wrong. Alban itself has four distinct human ethnic groups. There are the Solari themselves who are essentially fantasy Romans, there are the Alba-Solari who are Albans who have taken on Solari affections or Solari who have mixed with the Alban population, there are the Albans who are native worshippers of Lawful gods of fields, of home and the like (essentially fantasy Celts) and there are the Picts. The Picts are the evil men of the woods. Commonly more beast than man, they prove that by rutting with the beastmen themselves. Think of it as a mash up between Robert E Howard's Hyperborea and the standard ACKS Auran Empire. It's swords and sorcery. Magic is a BAD thing on a metaphysical level etc etc. Characters Your characters can be from any corner of the world. Alban is partly also a penal colony so they may be thieves, murderers and worse sent here rightfully or wrongly to exist as a dagger of the frontlines of the war of Law vs Chaos. Character generation will be handled with 4d6 drop the lowest down the line. System We'll be running using Adventurer Conqueror King System. It is a Basic Dungeons & Dragon clone kind of thing. This means it's open ended, freeform and (for the player, at least) relatively simple. Gameplay It will be a sandbox style open game. Explore the island, kill monsters, engage in some roleplay. Don't be expecting a particularly directed game. If you're not ready for something like this, don't bother. What You Need A keyboard, since this is a text based campaign. A reasonable typing speed. A grasp of the English language. A willingness to let characters die. It is likely they will. You are not destined heroes, you are adventurers chipping away the gems from the eyes of statues in the halls of long forgotten demon-gods.
