Dynamic lighting question

I worked on setting up a map with dynamic lighting over the past couple of days, tested it a few times, unveiled the map tonight.  Of the three players present, two had no problems, the third saw only his token in a field of black. Global illumination was toggled on.  All three tokens had "Has Sight" enabled. I verified settings.  I deleted the token and re-did it from scratch.  I used an alternate token.  I tried a second map with the same dynamic lighting settings.  When I disabled dynamic lighting, he (and everyone else) saw the entire map.  When I re-enabled it, everyone else saw the room, he saw only black again.  [Edit:  Player still saw only black during all token changes and when moved to the alternate map.] What else can I do to make it work right?
Dis you make sure he had a token or character assigned to him?
