Dynamic Lighting and Darkvision (5e)

Hello, I understand how to make a token that can see out to 60ft in Dim Light if it is pure darkness, but is there a way to make the token see bright light if it is already dim light? Like, if I have a torch that produces dim light between 20ft-40ft, and my character can see dim light as if it was bright light, is there any way to edit the character token to reflect that? At the moment I can only have him see bright light. I feel like my entire underdark campaign will be a shade darker if there is no way to have my characters view bright light in dim light.

You can set their sight multiplier to be doubled so that a light source would be bright to 40, then dim to 80

I'm not sure how that fixes the problem, cause then they can see too far. Basically I want something like: IF you have darkvision and the environmental light is dim light. THEN you see it as bright light. Right now, no matter what, everything is bright or dim, it is not "dynamic" based on what the environmental light is.

Ok, so if you double a tokens sight and give it darkvision out to 30 feet, that doubles to the standard 60 feet. Then if a torch is bright out to 20, then dim out to 40, the player will see it as bright out to 40, and dim out to 80.  That's the only real work around I can personally think of. Sorry I'm not able to help further!
Ah, I see! Thanks for the help guys :)

I follow what has been suggested in the  Wiki (this links to D&D 5e).  I think by adding the -5, it makes darkness look like dim light, and if a light source is available, then it 'layers' on that light source to look like bright light from that token's perspective. I'd have to check  Franky H. 's suggestion, as I never got the handle of the Multiplier (although I just found  this in another part of the Wiki).
