Session 3 epilogue

At the foot of Iarno’s bed is a sturdy, unlocked wooden chest holding the best pickings of the Redbrands’ loot over the last two months. It contains 180 sp, 130 gp, and a silk pouch containing five carnelians (10 gp each), two peridots (15 gp each), and one pearl (100 gp). ---- As Naeris is leaving the cavern, the nothic calls out to her. When she responds, it offers its thanks for sparing it and for the grand meal she has delivered. It also gives her a gift: a +1 longsword in a silver-chased scabbard. The sword is inscribed with the name “Talon,” and its hilt is worked in the shape of a bird of prey with outspread wings. It once belonged to a great knight named Aldith Tresendar, known as the Black Hawk, former lord of the manor above. ---- Back in Phandalin, Mirna rubs the rope burns on her wrists as she thanks Raynor for rescuing her and her family. She has nothing to give him, but repays his kindness with a story: when she was a young girl, she and her family fled from the town of Thundertree after undead overran the place. Her family had an herb and alchemy shop in the southeast part of Thundertree, inside which a case containing an emerald necklace was hidden beneath a section of storage shelves. She never dared to return and retrieve it. ---- Naeris communes with the glass staff during a quiet moment and learns the following: This slender, hollow staff is made of glass yet is as strong as oak. It weighs 3 pounds. You must be attuned to the staff to gain its benefits and cast its spells. While holding the staff, you have a +1 bonus to your Armor Class. The staff has 10 charges, which are used to fuel the spells within it. With the staff in hand, you can use your action to cast one of the following spells from the staff if the spell is on your class’s spell list: mage armor (1 charge) or shield (2 charges). No components are required. The staff regains 1d6 + 4 expended charges each day at dawn. If you expend the staff’s last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the staff shatters and is destroyed. ----
Does the +1 on the longsword give +1 to Attack roll, Damage roll, or both?  And I'm excited to go looking for that necklace.
The +1 enchantment bonus is applied to both attack and damage rolls. :)
Mwahahaha! Naeris is going to take Talon and smugly strap it to the top of her backpack, where it shall sit and mock all the hasty warrior types until she either finds someone worthy of wielding it or she acquires her own tower with a wall she can hang it and display it on. Whichever comes first. >;3 She is also secretly wishing she could have stuck her old staff up Iarno's ass; both for having messed with her orc and having owned a much nicer staff than she, when he was clearly so inferior to her. After her communion with the glass staff, Naeris turns to Zaradur and simply says: "Alright, I'll forgive you. This time."
Woah, that staff is pretty awesome!
Shavix said: She is also secretly wishing she could have stuck her old staff up Iarno's ass...for having messed with her orc I'm really liking Naeris' characterizations here. She's not mad at Glasstaff for having manipulated her friend's mind or turned her friend against his comrades -- she's pissed because he "messed with her  orc." Totally fits with her just needing to assemble her own adventuring party; the party is hers, and any good adventuring party has to have an orc barbarian, and that impertinent wizard just took her toy without even asking. I keep forgetting about Naeris' inherent sociopathy, and it keeps creeping back in to remind me. :D
After giving you the staff I see how you are Naeris! hahaha Zaradur still loves you Should this be our faces after seeing her keep the sword Raynor? Just messing with you, I don't care if you keep it or not.:D
I think that's fairly accurate as to our faces... but still I do like being able to dual wield shortswords rather than go with a long sword.
Haha Zaradur better. He's gonna be stuck with her for a while! xD Those faces are just priceless! :'D But yeah, the long sword doesn't exactly fit any of the party's fighting styles so there's not really an obvious choice for it anyway. Most likely Naeris is just going to keep it as an ace in case they need a magic sword for an especially nasty monster or as a bargaining tool for something better. But that's not going to stop her from being smug as hell about being gifted a magic sword by a creature her friends tried to murder. :P

Provided Zaradur doesn't stick his axe where it don't belong first, then Naeris can get behind that. No one gets to mess with Zaradur's tiny brain except for her >;3
So regarding that loot we got, does anyone happen to need any of those items for any possible spells, abilities, recipes, etc.? Otherwise I was going to recommend that we sell the whole loot, and split it all evenly. (regarding the 180 sp, 130 gp, and a silk pouch containing five carnelians (10 gp each), two peridots (15 gp each), and one pearl (100 gp))
Also, does the Mirna happen to tell me where Thundertree is (or is it a common knowledge sort of place)?
RJ M. said: Also, does the Mirna happen to tell me where Thundertree is (or is it a common knowledge sort of place)? Thundertree's location is common knowledge: it's a ruined town, overrun by undead, east of Neverwinter. For your convenience, I've moved all of you to the main map of the area.

No. Just, no. You're not getting a 100 gp pearl to waste on info from one person. Even if you were planning on using it to bargain with the god of knowledge himself for the secrets of the multiverse, the answer's still no. That gold's better used for supplies and better gear for the party. You can get a couple carnelians for that if you really need it. Likely they would get you just as far as the pearl would.
I think Aviana has a point here, 100gp is pretty steep for any level of information.
Did Naeris just slap Zaradur's hand and say "NO! Bad orc!" :D
Lol I see then I'll take the two peridots If I did the math correctly then we would each get around 65 gp with a little extra
Sigrun would like 2 carnelians, if possible, and would offer her whole gold split in exchange for them.
If the carnelians are that important to Sigrun, Naeris would be just fine with letting her have them on top of the share of gold.
Actually, after thinking about it, she'd ask for three carnelians and still offer her share of gold to the others to off-set the price of the three stones. I have an idea for a specific use she'd have for them.
