Inspiration, in case you guys don't know (and why would you? I haven't been using it! :P ), is a mechanic meant to encourage above-and-beyond character efforts. The idea is that Inspiration is something you have or you don't -- you can't collect and save Inspirations, you can have one, and you can cash it in whenever you want to grant yourself advantage on a roll. Then you don't have it anymore...till you do something awesome to get it again. I am granting everyone Inspiration retroactively, so you all currently have it. You may use it to give yourself advantage on a roll, or may use it to give one of your party members advantage (or an enemy disadvantage). Or.... I was just messaging with Raynor about one of his ranger skills and whether he could use his two attacks to use the skill twice. According to the RAW, he cannot...but I think that's just the kind of thing it would be cool to use Inspiration for. So I'm not restricting Inspiration to mere advantage/disadvantage, oh no. You can use Inspiration to bend rules, create new ones, maybe even break them if the situation calls for it -- momentarily, of course, but the point of Inspiration is to use awesome moments to fuel later awesome moments, and my favorite part about D&D is that it transcends numbers with narrative. So if you've got Inspiration, do something inspiring! I can't allow it to be all-powerful, of course, but I'm hoping you guys are pleasantly surprised with how far I let you take things when you fuel them with Inspiration.
