Greetings everyone, This will be a “A Song of Ice and Fire” campaign. Emphasis of this campaign will be on roleplaying. This also means I will very much take into consideration player backgrounds, personalities and stories. So it very important for players to create interesting characters (more details in “Player characters” section below). This campaign will contain mature content. Following is some detailed information on the campaign I am planning to run. Setting and Campaign: All players are a member of a noble house in the Seven Kingdoms. The house will be created by the players from scratch, however, with some restrictions from the basic rules (e.g. your house will be based in the Westeros continent and be restricted from some of the major houses). The campaign will start in the 195 AC just before the First Blackfyre Rebellion. It will generally follow the lore established by GRR books but will not block players from changing or influencing the canon lore events, major or minor. Of course, I will urge everyone to abstain from metagaming considering the books and the tv series. The campaign will mostly be open ended meaning it will be a sandbox game where I will provide circumstances and let players act on them and suffer / enjoy the results of such activities or inactivities (e.g. an unhappy banner lord or bandits pillaging the trade road through the house's domain). Of course, I will also provide background plots and more straightforward plotlines for players to follow, but it is entirely upon the players whether they will follow such plotlines or not. The plotlines will be of my own devising as well as from the published resources (so I hope you haven’t read or played much of the published stuff, if you have, do let me know). These plots will not necessarily follow the GRR lore, primarily to combat metagaming. The idea is to create a creative and interesting roleplaying sandbox for the players which will enable them to increase their house's fortunes in the Seven Kingdoms. After player’s house is created, I will provide detailed background on the house, history, map of the holding and the household, info on the head of the house, friends and enemies and general relation with other neighboring houses. Timetable: The initial idea is to run a ca. 10-20 session campaign with an intent to stretch the game further into a longer lasting campaign. This will depend primarily on the player's will to continue on (the so called fun factor) and then on the time I have at my disposal to prepare. The general idea is to have 1 session / 1-2 week time but this might vary primarily dependant on my own time and the players availability to play. In other words, we could have 2 session a week or extraordinarily 1 session a month if unfortunate circumstances dictate so but I will do my best to avoid having long stretches of time without play because players tend to lose interest. But, as mentioned, intent is to have at least one session per 2 week time. Session will take place mostly during weekdays in the evening hours but could happen during weekends as well if we agree so. The timezone is CET so bear that in mind, European based players should hopefully not have problem to follow up on this. Session will mostly last for several hours (3 hours or more) but we could also agree on a longer player session hours (e.g. during weekends). The house creation session will be held quickly after all player slots, or most of the them, are filled. Time and date will be provided on the Campaign Roll20 web page. First ½ of the First session: House creation and player's selection of the role they want to occupy in the house (this can be changed before players do create their characters) Second ½ First session: Player creation session (only if there are players unfamiliar with the character creation rules) Second session: 1st gameplay session (within one week after house / character creation ends) Third session and so on: As agreed on the previous session (at least once a two week time) Between session a discussion will be created on the Roll20 game page for (role)playing by post. Such side gameplay will be incorporated into the regular session. In addition, there will be an off-topic discussion present for making off-topic discussions, organizing and a place to make general plans and strategic decisions. And finally, one discussion will be open for making short transcripts of what happened after every session. Every session one willing player will make a short chronicle of the session. Players can change in doing so if they want. The chronicle player will, in turn, receive a small character development boost (experience points) at the end of the next session. The size of the award will depend on the player’s effort. Player characters: Players are free to create their own characters using the basic the rules. If you don’t have the rules or are not familiar with them, I will hold a player character creation session as well. However, it will be very important that every character takes a role in the house. Some roles can be taken by more players, but would discourage that in favor of variety (e.g. vassal knight, commander, bard, paige, sibling to the heir). Other roles can be taken only once (e.g. heir to the house, maester, septon, master at arms of the house). Finally, some roles can also be combined (e.g. a relative to the house lord occupying the role of a house’s master at arms). All roles will be chosen during character creation session. Until that time you can think about how you see your character and what roles interest you. To this end I am providing an open ended list of possible roles in the house, if you have other suggestion feel free to suggest them during house creation session: Heir (Male) Sibling to the House Heir (Male / Female) Relative to the House Heir (Male / Female) Master at Arms Commander of a House Army Unit Vassal Knight (Hedge / Anointed) Maester Castellan Septon Master of the Hunt Master Blacksmith Master of the Horse Kennel Master Scout / Hunter Officer of the House Guards Squire Paige Bard It is very important for every player character to have a nicely done but realistic background incorporating / explaining character’s personality. Character’s backgrounds should also strive to enable me to incorporate the character’s story into a possible future plotline that might involved other players as well. This will make the campaign more interesting to that player and hopefully to other players as well. It will also provide a way for player characters to develop beyond the initial setup. Since this will be pretty much a “roleplaying” game, emphasis is on having well rounded and interesting characters. Internal character stories should be kept a secret as well as their motivations, goals, virtues and vice. A topic will be provided where it will required from players to provide a short public version of their character story to enable everyone else to get to know their fellow player's character. I also thinking about to enable everyone to make two player characters instead of one, but we can discuss and make a decision on this before character creation. This should disable splitting the group and ensure that players are always present in every storyline. Player selection: If you are interested in joining, make an application in the topic below. When applying, please use the format provided and take note of the requirements. Knowledge of the system or roleplaying is not required, also no knowledge of lore is required, although I guess this will normally not be the case. Out of all the players that applied, I will make a selection. Idea is to have at least 4 but generally no more that 6 players. Sweet spot will be 5. This will enable us to hold session even if 1 or 2 players are unable to attend. GM/NARRATOR: And finally a bit about me. I’ve been roleplaying from my high school days (some 15-20 years now). Over the years been running various campaigns in various systems, e.g. (DnD 3.5 and 5, Merp, Rifts, Vampire the Masquerade, Call of Cthulhu and SW:Edge of the Empire). With that in mind, I tend to have emphasis on roleplaying in my campaigns. This would be my first time running the ASOIF campaign and my first time running a game on Roll20. In addition, I am not a native and active english speaker so please bear with me, it might take a few session for me to get into my sweet spot with the language. The same applies to Roll20 and ASOIF game rules, where I hope some of the players will be familiar with the system and the RPG rules could help out if the need arises. ------------------------------------------ Application: Required from players: Must be 18 or older; Be willing to roleplay your characters; Be willing to use microphone, no video required; Be willing to use alternative communication methods (e.g. skype) for solo sessions during regular session (will try to keep these to a minimum but under my experience they seem inevitable); Be on time when game starts or report ahead if you will be absent or being late; Be respective to other players out of character and to the GM/Narrator; Voice your concerns to the GM/Narrator regarding the state of game and/or actions of other players; Be willing to create new character after death (accidents unfortunately happen); Be willing to make short chronicle of what happened during last game sessions on Roll20. Application form: How old are you: How familiar are you with roleplaying: How familiar are you with the Green Ronin’s ASOIF RPG system: How familiar are you with the GRR Martin’s Game of Throne setting: What kind of character would you generally like to play in this campaign: Can you create your ingame character by yourself: What timezone are you in: If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to ask.
How old are you: Edard Stark How familiar are you with roleplaying: Varys How familiar are you with the Green Ronin’s ASOIF RPG system: Jon Snow How familiar are you with the GRR Martin’s Game of Throne setting: Peter Dinklage What kind of character would you generally like to play in this campaign: Peter Dinklage Can you create your ingame character by yourself: Jon Snow What timezone are you in: same as you
How old are you: 28 How familiar are you with roleplaying: I've been playing Pen and Paper for 6 years and freeform for over 10 How familiar are you with the Green Ronin’s ASOIF RPG system: I've played in a few short lived Campaigns. How familiar are you with the GRR Martin’s Game of Throne setting: Read the first book, the Green Ronin setting book, and a few misc facts from around the internet. What kind of character would you generally like to play in this campaign: I love to play low born characters, huntsman, rising through the ranks soldiers, Bastards of house knights and the like. Mechanically I tend to go something more well rounded than specialized unless it fits a concept. Can you create your ingame character by yourself: I can, but I find in this system talking with other players during creation is vital to avoid the unfun kind of friction. What timezone are you in: EST with a flexible schedule for the most part.
How old are you: 28 How familiar are you with roleplaying: Very. I find it hard to elaborate on this question... How familiar are you with the Green Ronin’s ASOIF RPG system: I know the rules entirely How familiar are you with the GRR Martin’s Game of Throne setting: I've seen up to the fifth season of Game of Thrones. What kind of character would you generally like to play in this campaign: I have several different characters in mind. Either a son of the lord, being taught well, but unexperienced in the world (with the stats of a jack of all trades), or a wildling sort of character, who happens to be amazing at combat (He should be able to go toe to toe with jamie lannister, oberyn martell or Ned Stark at his prime) but he doesn't enjoy fighting anymore. He was trapped for years north of the wall, and has grown a trauma to the experience, afraid of anything he would percieve as supernatural. I could make other characters too. Can you create your ingame character by yourself: Yup What timezone are you in: Sweden (GMT +1 or +2, not sure)

How old are you:  I'm 23 and have yet to see my first Winter snow. How familiar are  you with roleplaying: Truthfully I only began pen and paper roleplaying in earnest over the last few years but I've become hooked since then and I like to think that what I lack in overall experience I make up for in eagerness. How familiar are you with the Green Ronin's ASOIF RPG system: Honestly, I've never had the chance to play using the system but I am eager to learn and I've listened/watched a few games being played using it so I'm not going in completely clueless. How familiar are you with GRR Martin's Game of Throne setting: Like everyone else I watch the TV series and I've seen all of it to date and I've also read the books, though admittedly it's been a while since I've actually revisited Westeros in literary form, though I do have A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and I'm quite enjoying reading the short stories. As for the backstory, I know mostly, roughly, the history of the Seven Kingdoms but I'm not an encyclopedia of knowledge, so I won't be lost but I couldn't tell you what Aegon the Conquerer had for breakfast the day before he invaded Westeros. What kind of character would you generally like to play in this campaign: I'd like to play one of the siblings to the heir, maybe either a bastard son (legitimised or not) or some other kind of relative who's second-in-line to the inheritance, possibly even the favoured heir of the current lord but not the officially recognised heir. The conflict between duty, loyalty and honour clashing with the desire for more and to better oneself and to be seen with the respect that one deserves is a powerful and driving motivation for me. I appreciate this is a very specific character idea but I want to stress that it's not the only idea I have, just the one that sprang up first in my mind. In terms of mechanics, I tend to try and match my characters and their skills, so they're built more from a roleplaying perspective rather than an optimisation perspective, so they may excel in certain areas but that will be reflected in their character. Can you create your ingame character by yourself:  Mechanically yes, although as Mark M. above me pointed out, communication between players whilst creating characters can be a powerful boon, especially in a system like this where you all already have some kind of intrinsic binding factor like your house. It's useful to know from a roleplaying and group-dynamic perspective how everyone's characters will fit together, it doesn't have to be an in-game session where we all sit down but some way to communicate before we get to the table would be useful. What timezone are you in:  I'm a Brit, so I'm one hour behind you in GMT for now.
How old are you: 27 How familiar are you with roleplaying: I've been playing for about ten years How familiar are you with the Green Ronin’s ASOIF RPG system: I've GMed a campaign and played in one How familiar are you with the GRR Martin’s Game of Throne setting: Read all the books, Dunk and Egg series, and am a big fan of the tv series What kind of character would you generally like to play in this campaign: I like playing as knights who are normally only peripherally aware of poltical aspects of the realm (The Hound, Breinne). Or younger brothers/cousins who very much into the Game without directly benefiting it (Tyrion, Varys). Not interested in playing like the Lords and stuff Can you create your ingame character by yourself: Yes, but agree with some of the players What timezone are you in: CST. I can't play Saturdays and only Sunday nights though I am very free during the week.

- How old are you: 30 years - How familiar are you with roleplaying : I’ve been playing on Roll20 for almost 2 years now. Most of the campaigns that I've been in has been role-play heavy. - How familiar are you with the Green Ronin’s ASOIF RPG system: I’ve played 2 sessions of it, but that campaign fell apart due to a flaky GM. - How familiar are you with the GRR Martin’s Game of Throne setting: I’ve watched the TV show, but haven’t read the books. If I get picked for this campaign, I’ll go over a wiki and familiarize myself with the various canon house in our region of Westeros. - What kind of character would you generally like to play in this campaign: I would prefer to play an intrigue focused character, someone who is not officially involved in the major decisions of the house, but still have a lot of influence behind the scenes, and can aid the house with information gathering or backroom deals. I was thinking either a sister or an uncle to the heir, but I'm flexible. - Can you create your ingame character by yourself: I’m familiar with the mechanics of the system and with character creation. Of course as others have mentioned this is a system where inter-character relationships are very important, so we should be talking as a group about how everyone in the house fits together. - What timezone are you in: GMT+1
How old are you: 32 How familiar are you with roleplaying: Been doing it for more than half my life in various forms. How familiar are you with the Green Ronin’s ASOIF RPG system: Fairly familiar though none of the games I was in really ended up dealing with the intrigue systems.  About a years worth of experience in all. How familiar are you with the GRR Martin’s Game of Throne setting: I can tell you want D+D=T means. So yeah I know pretty much everything major and almost all of the minor stuff no matter how batshit crazy the theories get. What kind of character would you generally like to play in this campaign:  I tends towards the more martial characters. This isn't to say I expect lots of combat tailored to me. Sometimes it can be fun to be the pawn in the game of thrones, to get in over your head and be moved in manuevers you can't understand. And sometimes, just sometimes the 'pawn' will surprise you. And if not no matter how good you are at intrigue sometimes a head just needs to get bashed in. Can you create your ingame character by yourself:   Yeah no problem, just have to make sure all the edge cases are answered (I.E. can I take a 1 in a stat for bonus xp) and any special rules?  Like every time I've played everyone has allowed one free quality.  A nice bonus that also let us differentiate our characters  Not that I expect that it was just oddly common... How old are you: 42 How familiar are you with roleplaying: I've been roleplaying in one way or another since I was 14. As for online roleplaying, I've been on Roll 20 for about 3 years now, and have also been part of a few play-by-post campaigns on various sites over the years. How familiar are you with the Green Ronin’s ASOIF RPG system: Read it and made a few characters, but didn't get to play in a campaign yet. How familiar are you with the GRR Martin’s Game of Throne setting: I've read the books up to A Storm of Swords (currently reading A Feast for Crows), and watched the entire TV series up to Season 6. What kind of character would you generally like to play in this campaign: I'd be interested in playing an old but insightful house Maester (I'm a big fan of Maester Aemon, so that might give you an idea of what he'd be like). Alternatively, I could also see myself playing the Heir, if no one else wants the job, but he'd probably turn out a bit like Oberyn Martell, so his other siblings might have their work cut out for them reigning him in so he doesn't make a mess of things. ;) Can you create your ingame character by yourself: Yes, no problem with that, but I agree that we'll probably get the best results if people coordinate their characters somewhat. What timezone are you in: GMT+1
Invitations have been sent and the slots have been filled. Unfortunately, I could not accept everyone since 8 players would be a bit too much to handle. However, all of those that applied would have made a great addition to the campaign, so the choice mostly fell on the time zone difference since it is much easier, in the long run, to coordinate people in the same or similar time zone. Those that did not receive the invitation, I greatly appreciate your interest and time and if, for some reason, some player drops, I will sent a private message to you inquiring whether you would like to join in. Only afterwards I will look to public forums for new players.

Heyo: Not sure if you started this yet, but would love to join.My application: How old are you: 34 How familiar are you with roleplaying: Very. I've done several campaigns as a player and used to build/run my own NWN2 persistent world that was basically AGOT in Dark Ages/Arthurian Britain. How familiar are you with the Green Ronin’s ASOIF RPG system: Pretty familiar. I've played 3 campaigns, though I've never seen a DM really use the intrigue system.  Still, more familiar than most, and I particularly enjoy the joint house creation dynamic. How familiar are you with the GRR Martin’s Game of Throne setting: Very. I've read all the main series books, have the two campaign books for Green Ronin and one of the modules they released, and the world of ice and fire book that came out a while back. I haven't read the Hedge Knight books though, so I'm probably not as up on the time setting for this campaign beyond what's in the world of ice and fire stuff. What kind of character would you generally like to play in this campaign:  Whatever the group needs. I tend to play either stoic knight/guard types or heirs.  No idea how much you want to get into religion etc.  I really wish they'd do an expansion with more rules for playing some kind of red priest or Warg, etc., so I'd be up for trying some kind of version of that (I'm happy to have bad things happen to my pc, no worries). Can you create your ingame character by yourself: Yes. What timezone are you in:
