The supporters of the Green Mage Cult have posted a fatwah 1,000 gold coins for the head of any party member. Also, the Hashishim (Assassin's Guild) has posted a reward of 5,000 gold coins for the head of Niko Niemi.

Al - how are these bounties being "advertised"?  Are there "wanted" posters?  Word of mouth?   I guess the question comes down to....  Do we know about the bounties?  

I would hope that the Hashishim is separate from the Chimney Sweeps Local #72. Can my connections get us out, and at what price?

We need to get to the Kingdom of Asturias, to the city of Santiago. Their king, Alfonso III, is Cuthlic and may grant us sanctuary.

So as I was waiting for Sandbox to come back up so I could test, I had a thought.  I'm not sure how to implement this but thought I'd throw it out there.  What if, we take Niko's head to the Hashishim and let them believe he's dead.  Obviously, not really Niko but if we somehow get or make a head look like Niko, we can collect the bounty and possibly get them off our backs.   I don't know other than magically how to do this and I'm not sure what type of magic or spell would work.  Emma can alter self so she might be able to deliver the head without being recognized.  We could also try a disguise if someone is proficient in that.  What spells do people have that could disguise or change a head to look like Niko?  Does anyone else have some idea? 

I think you're forgetting that acquiring a human head that has been detached from the rest of the body is going to be a 'evil' act under most circumstances. However the right illusion spell could create an illusion of whatever we want (in this case Niko's head) that would satisfy a casual observation that it was real, the problem here is that when the spell wears off and the head disappears the Hashishim will be even more pissed at us. Also if the deception is caught while the head is being delivered the character delivering the head is probably a right off.

Well I was thinking (metagaming) that Bruenor could carve a head.  Or we could use a head from one of the enemies we kill.  I'm not advocating killing some random dude to take his head -- that too Highlanderly.

Well yes Bruenor could carve a head but it would still need some sort of dressing up in order to appear real. As for using the head of a dead enemy, Al would have final say on this but in real life taking body parts of dead enemy soldiers is a war crime and depending on the seriousness of a case it could lead to a death penalty. That would be a very serious case but the point is if that's a war crime in real life then it would probably be evil in a heroic fantasy setting.

A reward for a Fatwah may only be paid to one of the faithful.

Hence my "Get out of Dodge" philosophy.
