The Fatedancer character theme uses the fortune cards that were released by Wizards to be a game play supplement for playing 4e. I thought it would be kind of gimmicky and fun to have for a character that embodies randomness and chance. Maybe a chaos sorcerer or something. I'll go ahead and explain the rules for them (really simple): 1. You must have a multiple of 10 cards in your deck and there is no limit as to how many you can have 2. For every 10 cards, you must have 3 attack, defense, and tactic cards 3. You can only have up to 2 cards in your hand 4. You can only play 1 card a round 5. Drawing and playing a card requires no action 6. A pack contains 8 cards (1 rare, 2 uncommon, 5 common) Since I don't actually have any of the cards and I don't believe they even make them anymore, I'm trying to think of a balanced way of having this theme by simulating opening packs. If I was starting out at level 1, I would want to give myself 2 packs, since a single pack isn't enough for a legal deck. How often should a DM allow me to get a new pack? Every level seems to be a little OP, because some of the cards are pretty good and there is an encounter utility power I can pick to let me choose 1 card from my deck. I was thinking every 3 levels or so. For determining which cards I get, I can simply roll some dice and use the lists of cards as a reference. For example, in the Shadows of Nentir Vale set, there are 42 rare cards. Every time I choose a pack from this set, I could roll a d100 and when I get a 1-42, I get the rare card listed numerically from this list: http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Fortune_Cards_%284e_... Any thoughts or opinions?
