[LFP][D&D5e] Curse of Strahd Campaign (New Players Welcome!)

Hey all, I am a relatively new DM (about 40-50 hours of experience in a different system) looking to run Curse of Strahd as my first 5e campaign.  While I do not have any DM experience in 5e, I have watched/listened to hundreds of hours of 5e podcasts and YouTube shows, so am fairly well-versed with the rules.  I am planning on running 2-3 hour sessions, weekly, after I get home from work.  Right now, the potential time slots are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, between 6 and 11 PM, MST.  After a few months, the sessions may need to go bi-weekly as my schedule allows, but would probably be increased to 4 hours at a time.  We will be playing the game in Roll20, with voice chat through Skype, most likely.  Microphones will be required.  Regular sessions are important to me, and my biggest pet peeve is unannounced absences.  Real life has a habit of getting in the way, but please let the group know if you are unable to make a session, as far in advance as possible.  The quickest (and probably only, unless you're an asshole) way to get kicked from my game will be not showing up, and not telling us about it in advance. For those of you unfamiliar with the Curse of Strahd adventure by Wizards, it is a horror-themed campaign that typically takes characters from levels 1 through 10 or so.  The abstract reads as follows: Under raging storm clouds, the vampire Count Strahd von Zarovich stands silhouetted against the ancient walls of Castle Ravenloft.  Rumbling thunder pounds the castle spires.  The wind's howling increases as he turns his gaze down toward the village of Barovia.  A lightning flash rips through the darkness, but Strahd is gone.  Only the howling of the wind fills the midnight air.  The master of Castle Ravenloft is having guests for dinner--and you are invited. I plan on running the campaign very closely to the source material, since this is my first time DM'ing 5e, let alone Curse of Strahd.  All players are welcome, although I think this would be a good campaign for newer players since I am newer myself.  Experienced role players, looking for a veteran experience, may be disappointed. If this sounds appealing to you, feel free to post here with a character idea and your schedule availability.
Hi! I'm interested in this - but since i'm on EST I'd prefer if the time slot were kept on the earlier side of like 6-8 MST.  I've played some 5e before, and have previous RPG experience in the old days - we can muddle through together, I don't mind pausing for rule checks :D Fiala Tealeaf Lightfoot Halfling, Rogue Formerly: Charlatan and general nuisance Fiala Tealeaf comes from as normal a halfling family as you’ll find: lots of siblings and cousins, all ruddy faced and brunette, running harmlessly amok. Fiala, although she doesn’t look it, was always the black sheep - getting caught cheating at card games and fleecing little ones out of their snacks. Her tendency towards trickery only grew worse as a teenager, and although she was loyal to her family duties, her wanderlust grew stronger too. Once Fiala’s parents found her telling fortunes to gullible humans, they sent her out to explore the world, or at least bother other halfling towns. Without much coin and no connections on whom to call, Fiala quickly resorted to the same wits & tricks that perturbed her kin to ‘make’ her way. She never tells a stranger her real surname - adopting “Tealeaf” as part of her fortune-teller persona. Fiala is fiercely loyal to her family and hometown, despite their frustration with her.
Hello, I am also interested in this- I am free on WEDNESDAYS in the timeslots you listed but I'd prefer the earlier start of 6-8 MST.  I've played a few hours of 5e but cant find a consistent group.  I've played quite a bit of pathfinder, but I would be fine bumbling through.   Wilbur Gnome, Monk I don't have a concrete backstory for you but Wilbur would be a self-exiled monk who survived in the wilderness for most of his youth because of his strong spirit and martial prowess.  More details to come.

Hello there, i am interested. i'm an Australian but 6pm to 11pm MST wednesday is actually 10am onwards on tuesdays, a day that i am free in my schedule. I'm a new player and would love to join. I can't play on the tuesday (MST) timeslot so if you go with that one, no hard feelings.  my character idea would be a currently unnamed human wizard. i'll make him a character sheet for you (i'm quite new to it all) and send it to you if you like.  as a rough backstory, he's going to be a lawful evil necromancer who simply wants to further his knowledge of undeath. he has a strong moral code (keeps his word staunchly too) and cares more about his research and furthering his knowledge than any random acts of evil. He's absolutely fine with siding with 'good guys' because as long as he achieves his aims (more knowledge, power, respect etc) he's content.  if you feel like the character idea is bad or simply bad for the campaign please contact me, i'm new and completely willing to work with you. Got nothing fixed in my mind that's just my first inclination.
I would like to join this game! I've been playing 5e (and D&D in general) since September and I think I have a have good grasp on the system. I am in EST, so this time slot fits perfectly into the end of my day. Rhogar Turnuroth Blue Dragonborn, Druid At a young age, Rhogar was forced away from his home as a group of cultists destroyed his entire clan. He escaped. He ran and ran, until he collapsed in the forest. When he awoke he found he was being cared for by fey spirits. He knew how powerful beings from the fey were, so he asked if they could give him the power he needed to get revenge. They taught him the ways of nature, and they way to peace. They taught him that revenge would solve nothing, and that the power that was taught to him was meant to be used to protect beings of nature who could not protect themselves. The fey spirits took him on a pilgrimage around the land to study creatures that he would have never seen otherwise. Eventually, the fey spirits felt he was ready, and left for the fey wilds, know there was a protector of nature. Rhogar now roams the lands.
I'd be interested in a game if it started closer to 7:30 MST. For my character, I would be interested in playing a hill dwarf monk or a drow swashbuckler.
Hey fellas, I would be interested in joining as well. I haven't played any D&D in about 12 years, however I would like to learn the 5 edition rules. I just got brand new books today and pulled out my 3rd edition books. I do not have a character made up at this time, but could create a Ranger, Fighter or Cleric if you are interested. Mike
Hello, I am interested in trying out this campaign, I have a bit of experience with 5e and also have DM'd for a bit in it (out of the abyss campaign). I am willing to try really any class so, though i was thinking maybe a Fighter/Wizard. I also would like to inquire if this is vanilla classes/races, as in no unearthed arcana stuff? I'm fine either way and actually would like to try one of the races in Volo's guide if that is a option.
Hi, i'm available on the earlier side of the time slot on tuesdays since i'm EST.  I've played 5e a bit but haven't really played much on Roll 20.   I'd really like to try out a Human or Half Elf Warlock (not sure what patron yet but probably arch-fey).  Would be on the Chaotic good side, definitely unhinged though loyal.  Would like to hear more about the base story to fully plan out a character.  Not familiar with any of the Ravenloft stuff, but i'd really like to give this a shot.  Hope to hear from you let me know!
I am interested i trying out D&D. and this sounds intersting. I Have played several other rpg's over the years but never any D&D. So i am completley new to it. But i have read about it so i do know a bit I live in sweden so i am at GMT+1 but i can usually adapt to any times and i am free for most weekdays I will probably need help or guidance to mae me a character but i do have some ideas. For me its more important to have a fun character than having the best one. of coruse i dont really want a useless character but i care more about havign a fun interesting character than performance so to say For character ideas i would like to try a Half-orc barbarian (possibly human or dwarf fighter) that dips into the bard class to as i do like the idea of multiclass Or a half-orc barbarian combined with some other magic using class besides bard. necromancer, warlock or something. or a more simple one like a pure fighter, probably dwarf for this
Sounds like you already have a lot of replies, but I'll add mine anyway. I've played D&D back in the eighties and just got back into it last year playing 5e, so I'm pretty familiar with it. Trouble is I've never played as a player, only as a DM. It would be nice to actually play for once, and figure out Roll20 for my own purposes. I'm in the Atlantic Canada Time Zone, and earlier on Tuesdays works for me. If player slots are already filled though, don't worry about it.
