day 84 -------- After a long rest the team descends from the roof and lays waste to the airskiff, knocking it off the its perch to the bloodmoss below. the troll community assembles from the ruckus so the team terriorizes them by opening fire with turrets. The shaman explodes from the wall face to defend its tribe and gets cut down by critfire. its not a troll- it's an umberhulk with its giant stunning eyes blinded and now painted in phospherous paint. the thing had a docent mounted in a religious staff. They pick that guy up for questioning later. The team figures out that the holy symbol everywhere is a drawing o fthe floodlights on the air skiffs.... so their god just killed their high-priest. The team abandons their cult of trolls and heads north along the GPS route when they make a turn and behold the expansive mushroom forest the shrooms' caps glow. and the trunks are like portabella mushrooms. yum. There's a lake fed by a river to the north and the river continues on past the lake to the west towards the GPS destination. dhrak senses monstrosities in the forest. There's hundreds of them. beyond the lake the team spots a structure it's a submarine looking warcraft of Cyre - heavy warmek design team reckons the tower jutting 40 feet is the command strcture- top has been torn off. the team skiffs over to the shroom/moss covered vessel and drop off on the tower, and the system interfaces are in tact but systems are down. An 8th level mending could restore systems. .. they'd have to work on that. There's lots of magic circles painted in te shroom paint that are surprisingly complicated. Before the team could noodle on that, shroom painted umberhulks come crashing up from the shroom forest along the back of the vessel. when they get to the tower's base, they can gouge the metal with their claws using the same handhold others befroe these had dug into th tower's base allowing them to scale the structure with ease... gouged handholds along the bottom of the ten foot lip overhang and they are on deck atop the tower with the team. there's a few at first... between Frank and Princess, they bash them down pretty good. A second wave threatens the team while dragging off wounded into the forest of glowing mushrooms below. the umberhulk's giant eyes cause a stun effect.. so they are really dangerous in groups. they take a few rounds to drop and they hit hard. Dhraksis picks up that there are a few hundred of them in the surrounding region. Elevator down to the next floor is a long 6 foot diameter metal tube leading to a reinforced bulkhead sealing the way forward cracking the barrier open, the team is introduced to another cylender corridor to another bulkhead There's a system's relay station in the segmented tunnel for a docent to interact with but Dhraksis spots a heat metal trap that Dhrak disables and the docent gets a system's read that there's an active powersource in the Ship Core further within the ship forward and down. the cylender leads to the two heavy turrets perched atop the ship. 3 docents to activate, it operates independently from the rest of the ship. another bulkhead and laser trap later, the team is at the front heavy turret but the nose is crushed in from the crash beyond this point. The team makes their way out to consider their next move, they catch sight of more umberhulks skulking about so they go back in to power up the heavy lasters and start clearing forest by force damage weapons firing at 6d20 per volley (-3 nav per hit) wityh a good swath cleared away on both sides of the ship, we can't get snuck up on so easily. oh yeah-- there was an ongoing interaction between Frank and the umberhulk community.. there's different tribes of hulks in the shroom forest that are all territorial.  Frank started figuring out simple stuff like, "leave/die" when intimidating, "yield/mercy" when hurt The heavy cannon fire into the shroom forest probably impacted the intimidate checks considerably. <<end of session>> day 84 underdark -- mushroom forest 1/3 to level 13 loot acquired ------------- 1 shaman docent
