Characters present: - Elevyn, Halfling Paladin Sailor - Borgin Lahgfeld, Dwarf Barbarian Charlatan - Adarik Ulkin, Human Warlock Sage The party passed through a large, mysterious entrance into a large room partly choked with rubble. They saw doors in the east, north, and west walls. Approaching the door to the north, they had surmounted the rubble when they saw a strange sight: a female orc dressed in only a coarse cloth tunic and coarse burlap slacks, with an 18-inch knife at her belt, berating a tied-up gnome while the bodies of a dead goblin and a dead 60-pound pig lay beside them. The party attacked immediately. Borgin charged the orc with his greataxe, while Elevyn threw a javelin at the pig, and Adarik unleashed an eldritch blast of magic at the orc. The dwarf had not yet reached the orc when the javelin clanked off the wall and fell to the floor, evoking a shriek from the gnome and an attempt to wriggle away while still bound hand and foot. The eldritch blast sooted the wall beside the orc. The orc turned and reached for the door. Elevyn and Borgin continued to advance. Adarik unleashed another blast that caused the orc to fall to the floor by the door, motionless. The gnome flopped on his belly and began to try to wriggle away through the rubble. While Borgin inspected the door, Elevyn and Adarik reached the gnome. Adaric slit the gnome's bonds. The startled gnome, feeling his bonds drop off, stood and turned to face them. He proved to be dull-witted and foolish, but managed to explain that he had accidentally wandered into this place with "my Betsy" (the pig) and been captured by the orc and goblin. The orc had been questioning him mercilessly when she and the goblin had gotten into a quarrel and the orc had slain the goblin. They had been planning to take him to some kind of "Boss." The party advised the gnome to leave rapidly, as the place is not safe for such as him. The gnome begged for help to get "his Betsy" out of the place before she fell into the clutches of this "Boss." They declined and advised the gnome to get help in town. After a brief misunderstanding in which the dwarf grew suspicious and questioned the gnome further, he was allowed to go, and went out the east door to safety and help. The party opened the door and saw a longish hallway with a door in its left side some ways up. Approaching the door, they found that it was stout iron with reinforcing bands across the front, and would not open. Up ahead the hallway made a turn to the left, so they decided to see whether there was another entrance to what lay beyond that iron door around the corner. They had just reached the corner when coming the other way into sight were another orc, this one male, accompanied by a strange-looking 80-pound dog. The dwarf charged the orc with his greataxe while the paladin advanced on the dog with her shield up. The wizard just advanced slowly. The dog looked at the charging dwarf and coughed. The dwarf suddenly found his footing very slippery, and barely kept his feet, losing his charge and slewing into the left wall. The orc calmly stepped back. Elevyn reached the dog and thrust a dagger into it. The dog squealed and collapsed, its eyes stil open. The orc fled back the way it had come, with the dwarf in pursuit. Elevyn realized that she had forgotten her javelin in the room with the dead pig, so she made sure she did not foget her dagger. Pulling it out of the dog caused the dog emit a sigh and its eyes to glaze over in stillness. Elevyn saw that the dog seemed otherworldly. When she looked up again, the dwarf and wizard were nowhere to be seen.
