[DM][Lf 1-2P][5e] Tuesday 7pm Est The Crystal Gate

Hello everyone, I have been dm'ing a campaign weekly Tuesday at 7 for a few months. I am currently looking for one or two new players to join the ranks. The game so far is a high Magic campaign set in a home-brew world. While I normally run a more sandbox game, this game will follow a set story arc that will always be followed. Side quests and other interactions may be made and will happen, but expect the main script to always come back around. The current arc of the campaign has the players traveling around trying to figure out a way to shut down a alternative plane of existence. Two generations after the great war, man and elf finally live in peace. Roaming orc tribes stay true to their barbaric ways and traditions. Monster and beasts roam the lands. The last bastions of humanity thrive and expand once again. In the kingdom of Alisterra, in a small town on the outskirts of its borders a Crystal Gate appeared. A group of strange gnomes came poring through having fled a calamity effecting the plane in which they resided. After a few years of the unusual incident, Several gates started to appear these ones however were temporary. Beasts twistedly conjoined with man came out of the gates almost like a storm of vengeance laying waste to the lands. A young wizard named Ducalian put out a call for volunteers to traverse the portal and stop whatever is behind these foul emaciation from coming to the world. You begin this journey heeding this call. The group consists of a Goliath Barbarian, A half elf bard, and an asimar warlock/sorc. The party is currently in the Dwarven Region but many races live here so I can get most races involved. Rules. #1 Don't Be a Dick. #2 Show up and if you can't let me know in advanced. #3 Please have a reasonable Mic. #4 No underdark Races. (there are reasons in world as to why) Not every Rule I do is by the books. I don't use backround Features. I don't Use alignment. I don't Use passive Perception(I am just bad at this) I don't allow the lucky feat. I nerf'd The Alert Feat. Please Post a Character bellow in the following format Character Name: Character Race: Character Class: Character Backstory:

Character Name: Kelina Character Race: Half-Elf Character Class: Life Cleric of Sarenrae (or a similar deity in your world) Character Backstory: (Urchin Background)  Kelina is someone whose parents were adventurers who were felled in battle.  When this happened, she was taken to a nearby temple and taken into the care of the priests and healers there.  There was one woman in particular, an herbalist healer named Marlina, who had never had children of her own and raised the girl as her own in the light and knowledge of Sarenrae. (the background is simple and I don't mind making tweaks or editing things if you prefer so that they better fit into your story)
Character Name: Dustin Delarue. Character Race: Human. Character Class: Rogue, Swashbuckler. Character Backstory: Dustin was born in a little port town on the coast. His father Abel was a fisherman, and a good one too. They would have lived comfortably if not for Abel's love of the drink. Every fisherman had stories to tell and Abel was no different, that and his drinking caused the rest of the town to look at him as a kind of idiot, someone to be mocked. It was this kind of reputation that got Dustin into trouble, the town in general looked upon him with disdain, the son of a drunk, would never amount to anything. Dustin loved his father, but he hated the drinking... and the stories... he would watch the big ships come into the harbor and dream of the day he could sail the seas, make a name for himself. He hated being the son of a drunken fisherman. As the years went on his father grew older and sicker, the drink not helping. His father passed when Dustin was 11. He left him nothing, anything of value had been sold off for what little medicine they could afford. Having no ties left to this place, Dustin stowed away on a particularly large ship in port. It was a couple days before he was found. The captain not wanting to lose time and head to shore put the boy to work. Dustin learned fast, having watched the sailors at port for years, waiting for the day he could become one of them himself. After their voyage complete the captain decided to take Dustin on as a member of the crew. He ate less than the rest and worked 3 times as hard. Dustin learned a lot on the seas, the captain taking a liking to the young sailor decided to teach him swordsmanship, navigation, a minor education, everything a young man needs to know to call himself a respectable seaman. Ten years passed, Dustin grown into a strapping young man. A talented swordsman, his job for the last 5-6 years had been to board enemy ships in battle. Dustin had turned the tide of many a losing fight for his crew, his swift actions and nimble movements ending fights sooner than expected. News came of the Crystal Gates, their appearance disturbing the trade routes and cities that Dustin and his shipmates profited from. Tales passed from sailor to sailor, ship to ship about the half-formed beasts that appeared. Dustin, heard word of a Wizard named Ducalian having answers and perhaps a way to stop these abominations from ravaging the lands he loved. Docked for the night, Dustin left his shipmates and captain without a word, he knew the captain would never let him leave and if he had to say goodbye to his friends he didn't know if could go through with it. Dustin slipped off the deck at night and blended into the night crowd, heading for this Wizard, daydreaming about the next step in his life, hopefully he could make name for himself on land too.
