The party spent 4 days in jail, with visits from Nate to Urd, and Oron to the group. After 4 days, Hunvik, Sid, and Guildmaster Favoredarm all go to a court hearing to testify on the party’s behalf, with the bartender going with them. An hour or so later, a guard came running into the cell holding a letter and looking shaken. There was a large band of 30+ guards outside with Sid, Hunvik, Reis, Jebb, and Ruara’s Arm demanding that the party submit. However, the party was cleared of all charges. While the party discussed what to do, another guard came running into the cell block, smacking into the first guard. Apparently there was also an extremely large dragon outside. They party went upstairs to the second floor and looked out the window where the guards stood, they shouted things about the party submitting to be put to death. An adult green dragon landed next to the leader of the Claws of Tiamat who declared victory over Dead Man’s Grace and dominion over Guilds Town. The green dragon thanked them for their service and breathed gas on the group of guards, all of those caught in the blast died. The dragon then lept in the air. Urd jumped out the window and engaged the leader. Rurrick summoned 2 giant vultures, took ape form and climbed to the roof, Swell started shooting, Ailekk began hit and run tactics, and Cassius cast darkness on the prisoners who were being massively stabbed by their soldier captors. After a couple rounds, they killed the cult leader, and the green dragon returned to breathe on some soldiers on a nearby roof, and the rest of the soldiers fled. As they fled, a couple yelled “The nobles have betrayed us, FLEE!” Ruara’s Arm had escaped, and drained life two guards, and was working on Jebb when Urd tackled her and Rurrick, in spider form, webbed her. The green dragon told Ailekk to keep the party there while he went and dealt with something. Father Bigmug was running from a distance where groups of Nards and citizens were watching. He said Hunvik was dead, but he healed Sid and was working on Jebb. Cassius roused Reis who asked questions then got on a nearby roof with his spyglass to check out the situation. At some point, Reis notified them the dragon had gone into the Gryphon’s Nest, where the elders stayed, then a bunch of green gas started coming out of the inn. Then the dragon emerged from the inn. The party decided to take the released prisoners inside, with Ailekk, Cassius and Swell remaining outside to greet the dragon. The dragon landed next to Ailekk, and was quite upset that he’d let everyone go inside. He landed in the clearing and instructed Cassius that he should go inside and fetch Jebb, who was wanted as a traitor against the dragon’s father Shrave. Cassius went inside, and while he was the dragon ordered Ailekk and Swell to amuse him while he waited. Ailekk did acrobatics and Swell did card tricks. Apparently Jebb fought in the battle of Kiernard as part of the Kiernard army, so Father Bigmug explained. The party argued over what to do and how to try and get Ailekk and Swell out of danger, without giving up Jebb. After some discussion, Jebb awoke and said “Do it.” His explanation was that this would martyr himself, and would spurn the Nards to rise up against their oppressors. Bigmug vehemently disagreed with the idea, almost coming to blows with Urd over it. Rurrick and Urd both said if Jebb wanted to do it, it was his decision. Jebb got up, with Cassius help, and then made for the exit to the guild hall as the dragon was scratching at the door on the outside. Cassius moved aside to let him pass. The moment Jebb opened the door, the dragon rendered him in two, then took the party and flew up into the sky, off into the distance. Ailekk and Swell came inside, agreeing to never speak to anyone in the party about the humiliation they’d endured. After getting an earful from Bigmug, who insisted the party just started an uprising, he asked the party to help him come up with some kind of lie that wouldn’t make Jebb a martyr. The party wouldn’t agree to it, Father Bigmug stalked off. The party took Ruara’s Arm down into the sparring ring to interrogate her. They asked some questions (I don’t remember all of them). She agreed to be cooperative if they agreed to kill her. Questions they asked (Let me know if I missed some) Are you allied with Corrive? No. She doesn’t like Corrive. Are you allied with Dree? No. She hates Dree. Who was behind the attack? Our cult, the Claws of Tiamat, and 3 creatures of darkness who helped control the undead. Why are you doing this? To achieve unending life by serving my lord Ruara. Why did you help do this? Ruara told us to. Why are you being so truthful? I have nothing left to lose, my life and unlife are now forfeit. How did you forfeit your life? We failed, we didn’t beat the Claws of Tiamat and we have lost our footing in Guilds Town. Who are these creatures? In Vinarr in an ancient tower. Where is the Prince of Goblins? Somewhere in the underworld, beneath Bonehammer. Where is Namfoodle? Somewhere in Dravens or nearby. After talking amongst themselves she looked at Urd and said “How’s Nate?” Urd said “I’m not sure, he left.” “Tell your brother I said hello, give him a kiss for me.” Urd was getting disturbed. Then she said “We know each other well.” Urd responded with that “How do you know him?” “He serves Ruara, just like me. When he was a youth and he went into Green Beauty’s Slumber and came back with powers, that’s who gave him his powers, Ruara. He has sworn allegiance to Ruara in exchange for unending life.” Urd was speechless. She said to Urd “Your pain is delicious.” Urd walked over and cut her throat. /End heavy moment The Guilds Town Story arch has ended for the moment, everyone receives 2000 gold for bounties, etc. Swell, Urd, and Rurrick will go off to help clean out the undead in the infested tunnels. The Nards have taken over as temporary guards of Guilds Town. The elders of Guilds Town appear to be dead except for Elissa Bunce who resurfaces. Ailekk is considering whether or not to meet Kaaska alone or with his allies to back him up. By asking around they will discover the dragon’s name is Lord Nivicras, The Scary One.
